Common questions you get about your name

For me

What as in like [name_f]Ferne[/name_f] Mccann?

I’m often asked if [name_f]Shelley[/name_f] is short for [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] (it isn’t)

[name_m]Can[/name_m] I call you Em?

Is [name_f]Julie[/name_f] short for something / short for [name_f]Julia[/name_f]? No lol

“Did your parents like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland?” (no, it’s a family name)

“Is that with/without an h?”

“With a K?” “No” “Oh”

“Is it short for anything?”

When going by my nickname professionally, someone was wondering why I used the nickname.

When I tell people my name is [name_f]Bella[/name_f] they almost always ask if my full name is [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] - No! Its Bella-Angel.

I don’t share my real name here for personal reasons but people always tease me about a certain ad

[name_m]Abt[/name_m] my dead name:

“Oh like Eminem’s daughter”

[name_m]Abt[/name_m] my current name

“Why is [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] so long?”

I don’t share my real name here, but it reminds many people of a commercial.

oh, like the princess ? no…

I still occasionally get the “like the drug?” questions :face_with_bags_under_eyes: don’t really bother me, but get a new joke lol.

A couple times I’ve been asked if it’s short for something, which is interesting because while it does have a nickname-y feel I’ve never actually heard of someone named [name_f]Molly[/name_f] as just a nickname- but I do know originally it was a nickname, but that’s just not really heard of anymore!

[name_m]Not[/name_m] necessarily a question, but I’ve had my name pronounced a lot of different ways by a lot of different people. It’s [name_f]Alysha[/name_f], pronounced ah-lee-shuh. Ah-lish-uh and ah-liss-uh are the most common mispronunciations (for my name, not for the name as a whole), but I’ve also had it be pronounced similar to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (ah-lye-zuh). I used to really dislike how confusing it was for people, but I’ve grown to appreciate it (especially when paired with my middle name, Ann).

Anyway, I guess the most common question I get is variations of “How is it pronounced?”
