Complete name anxiety

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] due in less than two weeks!
I really like the name [name_f]Atlee[/name_f].
What are your thoughts on it? Too out there? Too masculine?
I can’t stand the thought of her being called [name_f]Addie[/name_f] as there are so many Addies in our area.
Two other names on our list are [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] might be too popular for me and maybe too cutsie?
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] could be too nicknamey. My husband likes Sylviane.
Would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m going crazy!

[name_f]Atlee[/name_f] is perfectly wearable in my opinion, though I don’t personally like it as much as the other two names on your list. I just find the -ee ending a little bit trendy right now, but it’s a perfectly fine name and I don’t think you’d have too much problem with people calling her [name_f]Addie[/name_f], as long as you both pronounce it clearly!

My personal favourite is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I think it’s really sweet, pretty and chic. It’s very unusual at the moment, though starting to come onto more people’s radars now, but it’s easy to say and spell and not at all weird. Sylviane is also very beautiful, but I think I prefer just [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] is too much like the [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], Ailey, [name_f]Tenley[/name_f], etc. etc. ad infinitum trend. [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] itself isn’t common, but because it’s so similar to the two-syllable ends in -ley trend for girls, it seems very generic.

I don’t think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is too nicknamey on its own, but I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving a longer name so she can eventually choose which name to go by. [name_f]Sylvana[/name_f], Sylviane, [name_f]Sylvaine[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]…they’re all lovely, and you’d give your child a little more choice in her own identity. If you prefer just [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], you don’t have to call her by her full name. But like I said earlier, [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] works just fine on its own if you choose to do that.

I don’t think [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] will be called [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] gets my vote.

The only Atlee (in this case, Atley) I know is a man, but the name fits right in with girl name trends right now, especially with the -ee ending. So I wouldn’t worry about it being seen as masculine.

Still, I prefer Ivy or Sylvie. I find both to be less cutesy than Atlee.

ETA: You could also use Atlee as a nickname for something distinctly feminine, if you’re worried about that. Alethea, Althea, Atlanta, Athalia, Atalia… But if you love the name as is, go for it!

Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Atlee[/name_f], sorry! In addition to all of @ceryle’s brilliant suggestions, I think [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] would work really well, too. It just sort of seems like a nn or femininization of [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], which seems uber-masculine to me in the first place. For some reason, I don’t find the “At” sound to be very feminine, but that doesn’t mean a ton, obviously.

I do love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], though–both gorgeous names! I don’t find [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] nicknamey at all–it’s the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Adela[/name_f], and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is cute-as-a-button, and so sleek, stylish, and chic. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]! I would probably rank them [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and then [name_f]Atlee[/name_f].

Good luck!

I personally am not a fan of [name_f]Atlee[/name_f], but I don’t think it’s too masculine, or that it’ll be confused with [name_f]Addie[/name_f].

I do prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] though.

Is Atley a viable spelling?

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are great picks!
As for [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] I also thought of [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] first. I think [name_f]Atlee[/name_f] should be saved for a nickname.
