Confession: Worst name you ever considered?

What is the worst name you ever considered?

I’ll go first. I love fairies (the winged nature sprites) (I know I’m a dork), and I imagined my future daughter with the name [name]Fairy[/name]. I thought it would be the more adorable thing ever. Until I remembered that one day, she’d be an adult woman and would have to introduce herself as “[name]Fairy[/name]”. Not to mention the alternative slang definition of the word fairy and how that would affect her. Now I can’t believe I ever considered it!

When I was a tween, I thought that kre8ive spellings were great. I thought the name [name]Jasmine[/name], spelled Jazzmyne, was awesome. Ha!

Okay, anyone else? I can’t be the only one who has considered awful names or spellings…

I had a crush on a guy named [name]Hal[/name]. So that was what I wanted to name my future son for about a year.

Oh, I can’t really think of any I seriously wanted to use that are just awful.

I remember liking [name]Gypsy[/name], [name]Sonata[/name], and Orchard for girls, and seriously crushing on [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Gypsy[/name] as a combo a while ago. I never would have used them (still won’t, since I still love them in a GPish way). [name]Sonata[/name] is probably the most likely, though–it has such a sweet sound and I have personal connections to the Moonlight [name]Sonata[/name], etc.

I can’t think of anything for a boy… Apparently I liked the idea of [name]Asher[/name] for a girl, though, which kind of makes me sick. I found it in this orphanage roster for a novel I had started back in high school, and I almost baby vomited, haha.

Oh man…I don’t think I’ve really had any ideas that were awful, or maybe I just don’t remember them cause they were so bad! lol

I guess the closest thing would be when I loved the name [name]Fawn[/name], and thought the meaning just made it so cute to use.
I still like it, but I’d use it as a middle name probably.

Thankfully, I’ve never had bad taste in names. As I reflect on it, it’s always been rather good.

I still realy like the name [name]Astrid[/name]. But hubby says it’s too hippy. And he’s probably right.

The one my family continuously makes fun of me for (I maintain that it’s still not that bad) was [name]Aubrey[/name] [name]James[/name] for a boy. I also had [name]Cayden[/name] on my list way back in like 2003, pretty far ahead of the curve for that one. I got over it pretty quickly, thank god - I can’t stand any of the -ayden names now.

For a girl… the worst ones that spring to mind are probably Beltane (pron. BALL-tah-nah) NN [name]Bella[/name] for no apparent reason, or Sabbath NN [name]Saba[/name]. I went through a weird phase in middle school.

[name]Edit[/name]: I just remembered my mom suggesting it would be cute to name a daughter Panda when I was like 15 and obsessed with pandas, so I favored that for about a week before realizing it wasn’t a good idea. Again, thank god.

When I was pregnant with my oldest boy I was teaching kindergarten and had the cutest little girl named [name]Eunice[/name] in my class…I truly considered it in the event we were to have a girl. For five minutes!

Oh boy. I’ve had some whoppers. First there was [name]Magnolia[/name], which is just way over the top for my naming style now. [name]Enid[/name], which I still like as a guilty pleasure. I flirted with [name]Wendell[/name], on a girl. (Again, still a bit of a guilty pleasure - kind of a shortened [name]Gwendolyn[/name], maybe?) Always have had better taste with boys. I loved [name]Aidan[/name] years and years ago, and hate that it’s in the Top 10 now and has spawned [name]Jayden[/name] and [name]Zayden[/name].

[name]Nava[/name] [name]Dean[/name], I really don’t think it’s awful but my mom still teases me about it

I also really loved the name [name]Gavin[/name] Book for a boy, but now I really don’t like [name]Gavin[/name] at all

When I was thirteen, I thought that name [name]Essence[/name] was perfect. I was a completely different person two years ago, he he.

I was in love with the name [name]Gray[/name] for a long time until I realized that my last name is [name]Ellis[/name] and my favorite show is [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy. Dr. [name]Ellis[/name] [name]Gray[/name] - [name]Gray[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]. Yeah, no.

[name]June[/name]. I was in [name]LOVE[/name] with the name [name]June[/name] for years. My birth month is [name]June[/name], and for the longest time, all my dolls and stuffed animals had the name [name]June[/name]. It strikes me as a bit old lady-ish now, and it’s nowhere on my favorite names list.

I guess it would be [name]Calypso[/name], for a girl. I still love love this name, since I was 15/16, but I know it’s not a good idea haha, stuck eternally on the Guilty pleasure list.

[name]Nevaeh[/name] for girl and Strider for boy. YUCK!

Any name that I ever loved turned out to be over popular 5-10 years later. I have a fear I’ll pick a “unique” name for my child and in ten years all these babies are being born with the same name!

Until I joined Nameberry last year, I was hell bent 100% sure I was going to use the name Annalynne on [name]Violet[/name]… Luckily NB educated me and V ended up with a sweet, unusual timeless name

greyer mentioned Panda as a bad name which sort of broke my heart. Not because I like it and would ever use it, but because my idol Kimya [name]Dawson[/name] (she did most of the music for [name]Juno[/name]) has a daughter named Panda, and it suits her quite well.

Anyways, I used to love [name]Ace[/name], IzekieL, Amakaze, Toxic, [name]Cinnamon[/name] (nn Cin) and [name]Rocky[/name], [name]Rocco[/name] and [name]Roxy[/name] when I was little. [name]Just[/name] a couple months ago I loved Asterisk for a boy. Maybe still a guilty pleasure… I also really wanted a kid with the mn Fking so that their name would be [name]John[/name] Fking [name]Doe[/name] like famous people often put their names xD

When I was a child, I use to say I would have some children when adult and will name them [name]Gypsy[/name], and other was [name]Serendipity[/name]. I saw that someone had the same idea about [name]Gypsy[/name]

Another was [name]Minerva[/name], a name I currently don’t care at all.

But I did named dolls with those names.

As a teen I had my heart set on [name]Thorin[/name] (a name from J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novel “The Hobbit” for a boy. These days I still don’t think it’s a bad name… and I might consider it as a middle name for my second kid who’s due in [name]May[/name]. What can I say? Once a geek, always a geek.

lol, didn’t people on PC try and talk you out of it, too? I remember those days, haha…
