Conrad: Vintage Gem or suddenly everywhere?

I know [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] has been getting more popular lately, but I am curious what the real life playground stats are. How many [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] have you actual met IRL?

We have a little boy named [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m], and if we ever have another boy, [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is currently my favorite. I like that it feels vintage and established with our feeling overly common.

For middle names, we usually use family names, so some possibilities are [name_f]Clifton[/name_f], [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I am leaning toward [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f]Clifton[/name_f]. [name_f]Clifton[/name_f] is a family name that comes from a less obvious part of the family members name that hasn’t been used before as a middle name. I like that it gives us the family connection while still being distinctive and personal.

So what do you think?

How often are you actually encountering little Conrads?

Is it getting too popular?

what do you think of [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f]Clifton[/name_f], too clunky?

How does [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] sound with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]?

I’m in my early twenties and I know two Conrads - a friend’s older brother who’s probably around 30 now, and one of my former classmates who always went by his middle name, so didn’t actually go by [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]. I don’t know any little Conrads, but to be fair, I’m not around young kids very often in general at the moment.
.
I think [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is still a vintage gem, though yes, it is rising in popularity in the US. I don’t think it’s getting too popular, though - it’s still only in the 400s popularity-wise, and went to only 770 baby boys last year, so it’s significantly less common than [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. It’s also been hovering between the 400s-800s since the 1960s, rising and falling within that range, so I don’t think the current rise means it’s destined to be super popular (even if the popularity of [name_m]The[/name_m] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] I Turned [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] has likely put it on people’s radar).
.
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f]Clifton[/name_f] is a little clunky to me, but not a dealbreaker if you love [name_f]Clifton[/name_f]. I do love the idea of [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m], though!
.
And I think [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is perfect with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

I love [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]! I currently work in childcare, and have done volunteer work with children for eight years, and I have never met a [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]. I think it’s such a charming name! I think [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f]Clifton[/name_f] is just the right amount of clunky. Good luck!

I’ve encountered two Conrads – both adults though! I’ve yet to meet a young [name_m]Conrad[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] – solid, cool, and distinctive in sound; I like it with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] – they’ve both got an old-fashioned-yet-contemporary vibe

Conrad is gorgeous!

Personally I’ve never met a Conrad and would be pleasantly surprised to meet one. In the UK Conrad ranks at #916 which indicates that he’s a rare vintage gem in my opinion. I think Conrad is distinguished, smart and striking. I think Conrad sounds gorgeous with J@sper and I like the idea of Conrad Leo gosh that name is swoon worthy. I find Conrad Clifton a little clunky but I think with Conrad Leo is gorgeous honestly such a fabulous name.

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] seems like a great brother name for [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I’m currently raising three kids from age 3-10, plus I volunteer in our church [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] school, so pretty wide exposure to kiddos, and don’t currently know any Conrads. [name_m]Like[/name_m] you, I expect that to change eventually because the name is rising in use, but they’re definitely no saturation in my area (US Midwest).

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] goes great with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I live in a diverse area of the [name_f]North[/name_f] [name_f]East[/name_f] US, have three kids under 8 and have met zero.

I’ve only ever encountered [name_m]Conrad[/name] as a surname, never as a given name (I’m in Australia). If it helps you to imagine the popularity better, there were about four times as many babies named [name_m]Jasper[/name] than [name_m]Conrad[/name] last year. I think [name_m]Conrad[/name] and [name_m]Jasper[/name] make a really lovely set. I like the alliteration of [name_m]Conrad[/name] [name_m]Clifton[/name], and it feels clunky in a good way. [name_m]Conrad[/name] [name_m]Leo[/name] would also be lovely.

[name_f]Pretty[/name_f] much echoing everyone else here but I’ve never met a [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] of any age (and I work with kids) and I loooove the combo [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. So perfect with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] Robert!!

I’ve worked in nurseries in several countries over the last decade or so, and I have met exactly one [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] irl, who is probably now in his twenties. Tbf, sometimes names find huge success in small pockets, so you may find yourself in a [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] loving zone, but to me [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] seems like a rare but familiar name.

I also think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] are super well matched. They’d make adorable brothers.

I don’t know where you are but here in [name_m]London[/name_m] the only [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] I’ve ever met here has been a middle aged man, so I think you’ll be fine - as a pre school teacher I would feel refreshed to teach a [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] and would actually think that it’s a nice change amongst the sea of kids called [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_m]Noah[/name_m]. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] sound lovely together, and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is perfect, getting very vintage [name_m]Central[/name_m] European vibes from him!

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] back to Nameberry! Your son has a gorgeous name, and honestly, I love [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] with it! I’ve considered him for a really special connection to my childhood, but the only other time I’ve heard [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] mentioned is either on this site or in books/films/etc.! I’ve not encountered one “in the wild”, but it is a beautiful name! [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_f]Clifton[/name_f] is really cool, and I really like him as a brother to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]! He is a little more popular but is really at the sweet spot in popularity right now imo! If Pam’s new future popularity predictor tool is accurate, it will rise a bit more in the next decade but not into the top quarter of names in the top 1000. I wouldn’t be concerned about the popularity - if you get the chance to use it, I would say go for it! [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] is perfect with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]!

Good luck!
