Conway? Too out there?

I am really struggling to find a name for our little guy. I like last names for first names. [name_m]Conway[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is at the top of the list, but is [name_m]Conway[/name_m] too out there? We are Irish but do not have any Conways in our family history. Older brother and sister’s names are [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u].

Personally I think it’s too much.

Are you actually Irish or do you just have Irish ancestry?

I’d prefer to see [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m] or [name_m]Conrad[/name_m].

I Immediately think of [name_m]Conway[/name_m] Twitty, Country [name_f]Music[/name_f] [name_m]Hall[/name_m] of Famer - and I love the association. To me, it seems more of a ‘cowboy’ name than an Irish name because of the Twitty association, and fits pretty well with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u]!

I personally do not think its “too out there”, and actually really like it in the sibset.

I really like [name_m]Conway[/name_m]! It is a bit different from the more traditional names like [name_m]Connor[/name_m], but it spells the way it sounds, and won’t be mispronounced. Also, if you are pairing it with [name_u]James[/name_u], that keeps it grounded.

FWIW, the only [name_m]Conway[/name_m] I know is from South [name_f]Africa[/name_f], so I think it can be a global name.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Conlan[/name_m]?

I think [name_m]Conway[/name_m] is actually really cute. This is the first time I’ve heard it though.

I immediately thought of [name_m]Conway[/name_m] Twitty. [name_m]Conway[/name_m] isn’t Irish either. What about [name_m]Conall[/name_m]?

I think of the town, [name_m]Conway[/name_m], Arkansas. Not necessarily a good connotation, not necessarily bad.

Indeed, I immediately think of Conwy (pronounced the same) in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_m]Wales[/name_m].

It’s a store to me. I prefer [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] or [name_m]Conor[/name_m].

I wouldn’t do it. I can’t imagine siblings [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_m]Conway[/name_m]. It just seems very mismatched to me. In my area it is a very common surname, though.

My cousin is named [name_m]Conway[/name_m]! His mom is so thankful she chose it. I love it.

I have really bad connotations with the name [name_m]Conway[/name_m] (nasty guy in junior school), but otherwise it’s okay I guess x

[name_m]Conway[/name_m] Twitty unfortunately.

[name_m]Calhoun[/name_m] is a great Irish surname.

This is my first thought as well. I grew up in a house where music was always playing and my grandfather, an Italian man from [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] had some kind of idealized view of cowboy/country culture. I think of [name_m]Conway[/name_m] Twitty and the song [name_f]Linda[/name_f]. I would love to meet a little [name_m]Conway[/name_m]! I also love [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]. Maybe this one interests you?

[name_m]Conway[/name_m] is cool, imo. If [name_m]Calloway[/name_m] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m] and [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] can work, why not [name_m]Conway[/name_m]? I like it. And [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], and [name_m]Conway[/name_m] work well, I think.

This has been on my name list for years. I love it.

My cousin is named [name_m]Conway[/name_m] and was born in [name_m]Dublin[/name_m]
Personally I think its new, fresh and very cute. His mom gets compliments on the name all the time. Go for it!
