[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there. As we consider this name for our unborn baby, we could use some help with the proper Welsh pronunciation for [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. Should [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] rhyme with “crease” or with “breeze”? Thanks for your help!
I pronounce it the same way as [name_u]Reese[/name_u] rhymes with crease
The correct way to pronounce [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is with a rolled r and to rhyme with crease, but I’ve never heard someone that doesn’t speak Welsh pronounce it like that - it’ll probably get read/pronounced the same way as [name_u]Reese[/name_u] & [name_u]Reece[/name_u].
I pronounce [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] like it rhymes with crease - like [name_u]Reece[/name_u]!
Rhymes with crease in my opinion.
[name_u]Reece[/name_u] (rhymes with crease) is the Anglicised pronunciation of [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].
The original Welsh pronunciation is a bit more difficult to explain if you’re not familiar with the Welsh language.
