[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
I’m thinking of changing my nickname and I was wondering if you thought that [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (lee-nah) could be a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? Is it too disconnected?
Thanks,
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] xx
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
I’m thinking of changing my nickname and I was wondering if you thought that [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (lee-nah) could be a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? Is it too disconnected?

I think you could use it!
I vastly prefer [name_f]Lena[/name_f] over [name_f]Leah[/name_f], which I think you were considering a few posts back. [name_f]Lena[/name_f] freshens up [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s sort of vintage-ness, and it was even used as a standalone name for the main character of the Beautiful Creatures books and film.
I think [name_f]Lena[/name_f] works really well as a nn for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I agree with the pp that it freshens up the name a bit.
I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]! If I had changed my name about a year back, that was one of my highest contenders. I agree that it livens [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] up a bit. I would love to meet an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f].
It absolutely could be a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
I like the Leh-na pronunciation better though.
In a word: yes. It’s not even much of a stretch. I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f], it’s so chic and multicultural-sounding.
It’s my favorite nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! If only I could convince hubby that [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is NOT an old lady name I would use it in a heartbeat and call our little girl [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for short
Very late reply, but just wanted to add that my daughter is named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and her nickname is [name_f]Lena[/name_f] (pronounced Leh-nuh). People think it’s odd at first, but then they just move on.
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] could definitely work!
