I am LOVING this name for a girl, my new favorite. I am a little worried about pronunciation issues. I personally would want it pronounced (edit) KUH-VEE. I am wondering with [name_u]Cove[/name_u] becoming more popular if more people would pronounce it Ko-vee and she would constantly be correcting people. However with our son (some have had pronunciation issues even though it is pretty straight forward), it takes people once and they know it.
I would pronounce it Ku-vee because that was the last name of the main character in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I’m not sure how strong that association is. If it’s strong, I’d recommend keeping Covey in the middle no matter how you pronounce it.
My MIL’s name is [name_f]Carol[/name_f]. I was thinking Covey [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] or Covey [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though the response overwhelmingly says Ko-vee there are Ku-vees out there after some research. What’s one more child to correct the pronunciation.
Covey [name_f]Lovey[/name_f] or Cov [name_u]Love[/name_u] are cute family pet names. Thank you for your feedback!
I did think of the COVID reference but maybe less with Kuh-vee. This will be a 2022 baby hopefully! Those make me say coo-vey, not quite what I am going for. Like I said, I don’t mind reminding people, we do it with my son Icem the first time they see it. I was just interested to see responses.
Definitely, if I heard KUH-vee I wouldn’t think of it, but reading Covey that’s just where my brain went.
And apologies, I misunderstood your explanation of the pronunciation I thought you wanted COO-vee, but it’s more like CUV-ee, rhymes with lovey? Got it!
First pronunciation that come up on a google search and multiple last names including [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] Covey - 7 habits of highly effective people. Kuh-vee doesn’t make me think of COVID which is good
