[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] " [name_f]Thea[/name_f] " [name_f]Annie[/name_f] Hillenburg-Ralston (27) is Harriet’s youngest child, named after her grandmother [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. She knows [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] well. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] isn’t married but has been dating her boyfriend for three years. Her dad was wary of him at first because he has a criminal record but realized he’s changed his ways and welcomed him into the family. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] was terrified when she introduced her boyfriend, wondering how her dad would act. This business with the affair is revolting to [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. She couldn’t imagine ever doing something that could break up her family.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] always loved hearing how her parents met, and it’s still a source of mirth. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is very close to her grandmother [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and loves stopping by to chat with her. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] has given her a recipe book that [name_f]Thea[/name_f] loves, and she’s determined to make everything in it. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] works at a bakery, and you can always smell pastries at her house. Thea’s sibling was the other person who knew about the affair. They helped [name_f]Mira[/name_f] tell [name_u]Walter[/name_u] a couple of weeks ago, which is why [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Levia[/name_f] are now attending couples therapy. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] inherited her mom’s calm and kind personality, but unlike her mom, she never allows herself to be walked over. Her dad’s boldness that she picked up certainly helps with this. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] doesn’t lose her temper often, but when she learned of the affair, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] practically went ballistic. Not only was [name_u]Walter[/name_u] an amazing older cousin to her, but she was close to his stepbrother as well.

[name_f]Umbrielle[/name_f] " [name_f]Una[/name_f] " [name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] (4) is one of four sources to stop [name_f]Thea[/name_f] confronting her stepcousin when the affair was revealed: the other three being her siblings. The younger daughter of [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Levia[/name_f], Una’s the most openly upset by the change in her parents’ relationship, amplified by how little insight she has. On multiple occasions she’s asked about why there’s a distance betwen her mom and dad, to which she’s told they disagreed about something, but no-one’s willing or comfortable to tell [name_f]Una[/name_f] what exactly caused this disagreement.

As feared, Margo’s obviously clued in - and has been distinctly awkward around her mom: not cold but clearly upset - however she’s promised to protect her little sister from this matter and is sticking by this fiercely. The girls’ have always had a strong bond - admiration and protection being mutual themes from sister to sister - and Thea’s relieved to see this standing.

For all the anger Levia’s understandably facing, there is grace being granted by her family, who haven’t actually signalled her as the person to betray Walter; at least not around their children, given how much more turmoil it could unleash. In a sad sense of irony, [name_f]Una[/name_f] never warmed to her stepuncle, who considered her a crybaby and insisted [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Levia[/name_f] needed to stop ‘pandering’ to her overactive imagination, so at the very least she isn’t bothered by his fading from family life. Last year she even barred him from her first ballet and tap recital, which was for the best in more ways than one…

Warning for bullying.

[name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] (25) is Una’s stepaunt, who unlike her brother, actually loves Una’s dreams and passions. She loves girly things and lives in a pretty little cottage. [name_f]Una[/name_f] really likes her and how she’s maintained her lifestyle during adulthood and not worrying what others, particularly her brother, thinks. She works at the local mall like [name_f]Cherie[/name_f], but [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] works at a dress shop. The [name_u]Perry[/name_u] family really wants [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] to be a role model during this difficult time because the kids are semi-aware of the actions of Elouisa’s brother yet they know [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] has the sweet childish charm to make them feel alright. The problem is that her brother has been very rude to [name_f]Una[/name_f] and [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] herself had been bullied as a child by her brother. So while the children do want to stop [name_f]Thea[/name_f] from confronting Elouisa’s brother…Elouisa secretly wants [name_f]Thea[/name_f] to go for it. She keeps this secret for now because she knows that the kids don’t want to see their family ripped apart and she gets it – their family isn’t as happy and perfect as the kids once thought and the kids’ thoughts have drastically shifted. [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] herself didn’t want the kids involved either, or really any of the extended family to know. It was between her brother, [name_f]Levia[/name_f], and [name_u]Walter[/name_u]. But at the same time, she’s not surprised more family members know and she can’t trust it between just those three anyway.

As a child, [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] felt she couldn’t relate to her older brother because he was about a decade older, but also because he was rude to her. He constantly belittled her and said she’d never be respected. After [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] was bullied in school and asked him for help, he simply replied, “Being the way you are, you should expect that.” [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] actually enjoyed things much more after he moved out because at that point, her then-8-year-old self felt she could be whatever she wanted. Some say she was a little later than average to enjoy childhood; seeing that many little girls like princesses at age 5 but she didn’t really feel that until age 8. She loved the idea of magic and imagining it was real to escape how she was treated by her brother as a child. She didn’t have a lot of people who were there for her, because she feared telling her parents about her brother’s bullying would hurt the family. They knew about past school bullies and had her back because those bullies were outside family but never really understood bullying within the family. This is why [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] now is so kind to the children because she doesn’t want to see them get hurt, but why she doesn’t feel bad if her brother gets the comeuppance he deserves because despite relation, he doesn’t feel like family to her.

While she and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] are much different, [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] loves [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and Dorothy’s delicious cooking. Despite Elouisa’s aesthetic, she cannot cook for the life of her, but she’s excellent with preparing tea. While she’s not blood-related to the Hillenburgs, she constantly wishes she was one of them and not a [name_m]Crowley[/name_m]. When she had a new stepfamily, she was happy to have new people to enjoy but was angered that her brother had to go and ruin that too. She gets along so well with the youngest [name_u]Perry[/name_u] sibling and is the closest, having no desire to ruin such a great bond. [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] is glad that [name_f]Levia[/name_f] and [name_u]Walter[/name_u] took couples’ counsel but was initially shocked by the decision – they will divorce and [name_f]Levia[/name_f] is staying away from the majority of the family. She doesn’t know how this will work with the children yet, but believes it will take a very long time before an answer is given. [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] has overheard the term Lexit being passed around, referring to Levia’s exit from the extended family, but she wants the kids to stay away from that term because there is still a chance she’s not gone forever and will get to see her kids. [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] worries so much that [name_u]Addyson[/name_u], who has been such a great influence and has been a fun aunt, may have some issues with the [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] family regarding her son and stepson. [name_u]Addyson[/name_u] was so excited about the party for her and her husband and things have gotten less and less exciting since the affair drama. While Elouisa’s main focus is being a fun positive role model and someone the children can look up to on avoiding drama, she also wants to protect [name_u]Addyson[/name_u] as well because she really loves her stepmother but doesn’t want her to know that he hates her brother.

[name_m]Montague[/name_m] " [name_u]Monty[/name_u] " [name_u]Robert[/name_u] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] (28) is Elouisa’s stepbrother, Una’s uncle, and younger brother to [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Cherie[/name_f]. He wasn’t the happiest upon learning his mom started dating and was even more upset when she remarried. [name_u]Monty[/name_u] has since developed a good relationship with his stepdad. He and [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f], being the two youngest kids, got along splendidly from the get-go. Despite the awful things going on, it hasn’t changed the bond they share. It took [name_u]Monty[/name_u] some time to get used to the middle [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] sibling, but he never warmed up to the oldest, who had the affair with [name_f]Levia[/name_f]. The divorce proceedings are in full swing now. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and her siblings are now aware of what’s happening, though [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and the second-oldest are the only ones who really grasp the situation. [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and his wife have Walter’s kids staying with them now. He’s been doing his best to keep them cheered up and hopes the divorce is quick.

[name_u]Walter[/name_u] is letting [name_f]Levia[/name_f] keep the house, so all the family members with an extra room are making it available to him, including [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and his wife. It’s common knowledge in the family now that [name_f]Levia[/name_f] is trying to get full custody of the kids. No one is very pleased about that development, and they hope [name_u]Walter[/name_u] can at least get joint custody. One person noticeably absent from everything is Elouisa’s stepbrother. He hasn’t been in contact with the other Crowleys or anyone else. [name_u]Monty[/name_u] works with [name_f]Thea[/name_f] at the bakery and would gladly join her confrontation if they knew where to find him. [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and his wife are child-free, which is why they were glad to take in Walter’s kids after [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and her husband had them. They’ve been married for two years now and are stronger than ever. [name_u]Monty[/name_u] hates that his mom’s party has been shrouded by this mess. He’s determined to do everything he can to make it as fun as possible for all the attendees.

cw: cheating + generally awful person!

[name_u]Jericho[/name_u] " JP " [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] (37) is Monty’s stepbrother and Elouisa’s’ full blooded brother, as well as the man [name_f]Levia[/name_f] had her affair with. To say JP’s a self-serving individual would be charitable - he’s never had much consideration for other people. When his dad remarried, JP wasn’t enthused, mostly because it meant readjusting to more siblings and sharing time, attention and space, the absolute antithesis of what his selfish nature thrives in. He and [name_u]Walter[/name_u] had a quiet rivalry as the two eldest children, however JP took it much more seriously than his outward demeanour indicated, and in reality, he often felt he came up second best in comparison to his stepbrother - at least where popularity and forming meaningful relationships are concerned [no surprise why JP fails miserably in this area].

Engaging in the affair with [name_f]Levia[/name_f] was a complex situation beyond his relation to [name_u]Walter[/name_u]. JP was truthful when confessing his attraction to his sister-in-law, having had a longstanding interest in her. As [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] noticed during their upbringing, when someone else has something, JP wants it, and he despises losing or being made to feel or appear weak. His callousness mixed into this, leading to him approaching her to instigate their illicit relationship, not that anything beyond his own ego came into JP’s head as things intensified and became consistent.

In between his involvement with her, JP dated other women - telling [name_f]Levia[/name_f] it was to divert suspicion - as his need for attention and validation is ever present. His lack of interest in her children - his stepnieces and nephews - was a point of contention when [name_f]Levia[/name_f] had inclinations to leave [name_u]Walter[/name_u] for JP, usually prompted by the charm and attentiveness her brother-in-law can summon when he feels like it. JP’s a financial lawyer, working in fraud of all ironic things, and his time in school let him study people’s wants with even greater precision. The moment [name_f]Levia[/name_f] wanted to pull away and reconcile with [name_u]Walter[/name_u] properly, he’d say and do exactly what was necessary to pull her back to him [and if it meant badmouthing his stepbrother, that was just a perk of the predicament, as far as JP was concerned].

Unbeknownst to [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and other family members, the custody prompting is JP once more surfacing to make Walter’s life unpleasant. His already poor relationships with his step and blood family soured completely when the truth came out, and JP is both no stranger and a friend to spiteful behaviour, especially when he feels he has nothing to lose. With [name_f]Levia[/name_f] distanced from her in-laws, he once more got in her ear about how [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and [name_f]Cherie[/name_f] would soon convince [name_u]Walter[/name_u] to deny her any access to the children, speculating they’d soon poison [name_f]Margo[/name_f] against her, and Levia’s panic easily led to her believing him. It confuses even JP as to why he’s continuously infatuated with her - now Walter’s gone, the lure should’ve faded - but perhaps he’s more afraid of being alone than his exterior suggests…

Please let me know if I got anything wrong! I only read through the last 10 or so.

[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] " [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] " [name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] (4) is the sibling closest in age to [name_f]Una[/name_f], and although they are the same age, they are not twins. [name_f]Doris[/name_f] loves to tell everyone that he is older than her by 10 months. Recently [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] has discovered a love for gymnastics, and basic math. Unlike his sisters, [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] hasn’t noticed anything different in the family. [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f] love creating their own fantasy worlds for all their toys together, as their imaginations are very evenly matched.

This doesn’t affect any of the story, just filling in a character.

[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] " [name_m]Hank[/name_m] " [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] (8) is the second to oldest child of [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Levia[/name_f]. He and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] have been going through a lot in the past few weeks. Trying to keep [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f] occupied so they don’t miss their mom too much has been a mission he gratefully accepted. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] wants to be busy, has to be busy, especially now. Nighttime is the worst for him because when there’s nothing to do, he starts thinking of all the worst-case scenarios. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] is having a tough time regulating his feelings. He tries not to yell at anyone when they upset him, but it’s hard. He’s mad at his mom for messing everything up but misses her a lot, just the same. He’s furious with JP and even upset at his dad, though he doesn’t know why. Uncle Monty’s wife has realized that [name_m]Hank[/name_m] isn’t coping well at all. She’s talked to both [name_u]Walter[/name_u] and [name_f]Levia[/name_f] about therapy for him. They’ve agreed, and he starts next week. This has slightly weakened Levia’s belief that Walter’s family wants to keep her away from the kids. Only one parent is required to consent to a child’s therapy, so there was no need for [name_f]Levia[/name_f] to be asked for an opinion.

Before all of this drama, [name_m]Hank[/name_m] was probably the happiest and most outgoing of all his siblings. He enjoyed being outside, getting dirty, and playing all day, or at least until he was called inside for dinner. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] loves to read, and when [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is busy ‘observing’ (she hates the word spying), he reads to [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f]. He wishes his mom was here to do that as she always did the best voices. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] is very grateful to [name_u]Monty[/name_u] and his wife for letting them stay at their house. He knew there were other family members with more room who could’ve taken them in, but they were farther away from home. [name_m]Hank[/name_m] likes being close to his home; it makes things feel a little less awful. Through Margo’s observations, she found out that their mom is trying to get full custody. After looking that up to see what it was, she told [name_m]Hank[/name_m]. They’re both worried about not seeing their dad or their large extended family, but even though they’re upset with their mom, they want to see her too.

[name_f]Bingxue[/name_f] “ [name_u]Xue[/name_u] “ [name_f]Lua[/name_f] [Shang] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] (28) is Monty’s wife, who helped get [name_m]Hank[/name_m] into therapy. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] originates from Macau and is proud of her origins, telling anyone who’s curious. She’s tried to see Levia’s point of view in terms of her confidence-related problems but is disgusted by her secretive mistreatment of [name_u]Walter[/name_u], who has been nothing but kind to her about her post-baby body insecurities. “And this is how she treats him?!” [name_u]Xue[/name_u] first asked when finding out about the scandal. Something [name_u]Xue[/name_u] isn’t super open about but doesn’t hide is that she’s had plastic surgery. She’s had both a reconstructive and a cosmetic procedure. Reconstructive rhinoplasty, to fix the bridge of her nose after breaking her nose in an accident; and had cosmetic eyelid surgery, to give her eyes a more feminine feel. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] doesn’t suggest anyone get it unless they truly feel it is for them and doesn’t believe anyone particularly “needs” it, especially cosmetic procedures. Still she’s against shaming people who have gotten plastic surgery, regardless of how much they “look like they’ve had it”. Most of the family knows she’s had it but don’t make a big deal of it, since she doesn’t do so, and she feels awkward when people do. [name_f]Levia[/name_f] unintentionally made her feel uncomfortable when she kept asking [name_u]Xue[/name_u], “Should I get plastic surgery?” [name_u]Xue[/name_u] answered, “It’s your choice, not mine. [name_f]Do[/name_f] it if you feel comfortable with it, but remember that some insecurities are temporary and plastic surgery is something you’ll have with you for you for life.” [name_f]Levia[/name_f] didn’t actually get plastic surgery but she was miffed at [name_u]Xue[/name_u] for having plastic surgery yet “not giving her a straight answer”. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] was no help according to Levia’s insecurities.

[name_u]Xue[/name_u] was absolutely shocked when [name_f]Levia[/name_f] had an affair with JP while married to her brother-in-law [name_u]Walter[/name_u]. [name_u]Walter[/name_u] had been so kind and patient on [name_f]Levia[/name_f] having insecurities. Plus four children were in the picture! [name_u]Xue[/name_u] and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] had no children and they would never go on a date with someone else, let alone sleep with someone close to the family while married with kids. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] sided strongly with [name_u]Walter[/name_u] although [name_u]Xue[/name_u] has understood Monty’s decisions to still support [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f] and the middle [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] sibling. After all, [name_u]Xue[/name_u] knows [name_u]Monty[/name_u] wanted the best for his family and while he didn’t want to be in a blended family at first, he’s been very kind to his stepfamily. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] stands up for [name_u]Monty[/name_u] against JP and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] has stood up for himself as well. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] are actually co-workers at the bakery together and love talking about pastries and other goodies. She likes the dynamic of Thea’s outspoken nature and her boyfriend’s soft side despite his past criminal record. She enjoys people who can show they’re great people despite their pasts and can prove people wrong. She has yet to see [name_f]Levia[/name_f] prove anyone wrong, especially when [name_f]Levia[/name_f] was saying she wanted full custody of her children. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] questions why [name_f]Levia[/name_f] thinks she deserves the right to that and what [name_u]Walter[/name_u] has done to get every horrible mistreatment she’s given him. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] had a deep and private conversation with Levia’s younger sister, who states she and [name_f]Levia[/name_f] were once a close bond. However it waned, eventually deteriorating when [name_f]Levia[/name_f] spent so much time with JP, whom her sister insisted was “bad for her to hang out with”. Her sister comforted [name_f]Levia[/name_f] during her insecurities but stopped sympathising with her when [name_f]Levia[/name_f] kept blowing off plans with her to spend time with JP, and completely cut her off when the cheating scandal occurred. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] have been very kind to Levia’s sister following this because they know she is good at heart.

[name_u]Xue[/name_u] has been responsible and sweet to the children following their temporary moving-in to she and Monty’s home. She still tells bedtime stories when they ask, even if they feel a little “too old”, just to give them positive thoughts before they sleep. She often tells them funny stories about her life and also sings some soothing Macau songs to get them to know a little more about her while also calming them down. She’s let [name_m]Hank[/name_m] have a night-light but also is aware her comforting tactics are no substitute for actual therapy and has been supportive of [name_m]Hank[/name_m] finding himself again. She knows this is not a quick and easy process, especially with all the new crazes going around with their parents, but she focuses on motivation and trying to give them a reason to smile everyday, even just for a moment. She and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] also help the children with homework, just to prevent school from being an added stressor to their lives. She’s currently making the garden a more fun place for the kids to run around in the backyard and while these child-free people aren’t getting a playground, that doesn’t mean they won’t make things fun. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] rented an inflatable jumpy castle and feels good seeing [name_f]Dorie[/name_f] bouncing in it and smiled a lot when [name_m]Hank[/name_m] bounced in it. She enjoys [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and Una’s presence and she’s aware that the girls and [name_m]Hank[/name_m] know about the relationship issues of their parents. This is the hardest part for [name_u]Xue[/name_u] because she doesn’t want to lie about anything and she doesn’t want to over-censor anything they already know. She and [name_u]Monty[/name_u] have given them open and frank conversations to them, avoiding saying bad things about [name_f]Levia[/name_f], but allowing them to say whatever they want without holding them back. The couple supports real emotions and feels it would be wrong to block this away from them when they need to express it the most. They were very responsible when choosing therapy, reading reviews, and looking up the people helping before ultimately deciding with the help of [name_u]Walter[/name_u]. [name_u]Xue[/name_u] knows [name_f]Levia[/name_f] has less of a presence lately for her children and encourages them to be as honest as they feel about this, even if the kids’ opinions differ from one another’s. She hasn’t yet discussed Levia’s desire for full custody and isn’t comfortable addressing the matter with them, believing this should stay the decision of [name_u]Walter[/name_u] or Levia’s sister.

warning: toxic sibling behaviour

[name_f]Keziah[/name_f] " [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] " [name_f]Shirin[/name_f] [name_m]Crowley[/name_m] (30) is the other step-in-law of [name_u]Xue[/name_u] and the middle sibling between the morally bankrupt JP and sincerely helpful [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f]. Growing up, [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] wasn’t so much the peacemaker as she was the combatant JP faced off against. He was less prone to undermining and criticising [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] on a frequent level, instead waiting for an optimum moment to upset her. A prime example of this was when he waited for her to win at a track competition in middle school, only to then immediately set a new personal best at running himself, so praise had to be divided between the two of them, something [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] was incredibly upset over [and of course JP blamed her ‘hormones’ for this, instead of showing any real remorse or regretting what he’d put his sister through].

When he refocused his rivalry with their stepbrother, [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] wasn’t at all surprised, but she does feel guilty that it relieved her a little in the early days, as it meant JP wasn’t trying to outshine what she did. As she once told [name_f]Elouisa[/name_f], JP would’ve switched his college major to marketing and business if they were closer in age, solely so he could get better grades than [name_f]Kiza[/name_f]. It might have been the fact she’d fight with him pretty openly and refused to pretend she tolerated him that made their relationship so poor, [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] couldn’t say, however even she was shocked when the affair news broke: that was low, even for JP (and the fact it involved children was so much worse).

Having just learned she was pregnant at the time, [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] waited 3 more weeks before breaking her own news. She didn’t want to force people to pretend it could all be happy and normal with so much pain unleashed, then there was the uncertainty about the paternity also plaguing Walter’s mind. Kiza’s now 4 months pregnant and is going to be a single mother. Her ex made it plainly clear he only wanted to financially provide for their unborn daughter - no contact, just money - and she hasn’t forced the issue, as a cycle of disappointment isn’t what she wants for her child. Things were never that serious between the couple (they didn’t have any kind of dating labels for each other), and [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] is a glass half empty type anyways most of the time, so she handled the news as well as could be expected. At least he isn’t a JP…

[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] [name_u]Denim[/name_u] (17) is Kiza’s intern, who met her through a high school work placement scheme, and the two have formed a very positive relationship. There’s a lot of similarities in their respective natures, and through her work at the ethical cosmetics brand - Root of Content - where [name_f]Kiza[/name_f] is a marketing supervisor, Nikita’s only become more certain of her dream to become an MUA. Of course, not everyone in Nikitas’ life fully supports this [her brother, [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], has helpfully described this as both ‘weird’ and ‘boring’ at varying intervals, insisting that ‘drawing on people’ isn’t the kind of job anyone should want], but she’s never been the sort to take this sort of reaction or dismissal to heart. In fact, her mom - and namesake - insists this sort of response just urged [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] onwards in pursuing her dreams.

Blunt and even more no nonsense since losing her dad, Nikitas’ tried on several occasions to convince her younger brother that ‘Crotch’ is a nickname doomed for misery in high school, but he’s even more stubborn than she can manage to be. If she can have her makeup, he wants his nickname. So for now she’s just hoping he’ll see sense before he hits 14 [and even that feels like a stretch given the way some kids catch onto mockery quicker]. This is something of a contrast with how her other younger sibling - Anglica, aka [name_u]Ange[/name_u] - views [name_u]Nikita[/name_u], having a much more reverent perspective, seeing her as an oracle into the matters of teenhood. The fact they’re both heavily invested in physical expression [makeup for [name_u]Nikita[/name_u], fashion for Ange] has only furthered their closeness, and it does make the eldest of the trio consider whether this furthers Crotchs’ antics, as he’s not got any real interest in these things [although [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] finds this abundantly obvious, given the jacket mutilation - as she refers to his ‘bad boy’ trial].

Since the death of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] " Cut " [name_u]Denim[/name_u] - the siblings’ father and diligent thrillseeker - Nikita’s done all she can to protect and guide her brother and sister, however there’s been a lot of grieving she herself has had to process. It’s not gone unnoticed by her that their mom - [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] - has upped her protectiveness, and while she tries to appreciate it, [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] faces her own frustrations. She knows college might become an issue between them, as even though [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] plans on staying close to her family, the newfound independence will undeniably spark anxiety in their mom, which she fears [name_u]Ange[/name_u] will weather [especially if the road trip is still something on the cards for her friends]. The main person [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] seeks advice from is her therapist, whom she was referred to by her school, however she knows her own fire-inclined temperament means an honest conversation might not be smooth sailing.

[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] [name_m]Thornton[/name_m] (40) is Nikita’s therapist, who actually knew the affair conflict caused by [name_f]Levia[/name_f], seeing her sister [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] was one of the first people [name_f]Levia[/name_f] told. Secretly, [name_f]Margery[/name_f] is glad [name_u]Walter[/name_u] is going to legally be the primary parent after all. She’s also glad she’s not the therapist in this, since she has her personal bias even if it’s different from her sister. She actually first learned about the [name_u]Denim[/name_u] family through a paternal [name_u]Denim[/name_u] relative although this was years before the trauma and referral by Nikita’s school. [name_f]Margery[/name_f] naturally understands [name_u]Nikita[/name_u], and will be as patient as long as possible. She knows Nikita’s troubles are within multiple emotions. [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] seems angry at her father for the way he died, but it’s all because she cares about him. Likewise, [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] is bothered by her brother Christopher’s insistence to go by “Crotch” but mainly out of trying to protect him. [name_f]Margery[/name_f] is only one year younger than Nikita’s mother [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] [name_u]Denim[/name_u], and relates to her on deep levels. Having [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] and [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] share such similar personalities is why it’s easier for [name_f]Margery[/name_f] to talk to both of them.

[name_f]Margery[/name_f] is known (well mostly by Olivia) to dislike [name_u]Twilight[/name_u] and 50 Shades of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] in both book and movie forms and that [name_f]Margery[/name_f] is a stickler against bad writing and the cringey ways these authors try to grab reader attention. She’s not against the YA genre as a whole, especially since she’s a diehard fan of [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]! She doesn’t consider 50 Shades of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] to be YA or really much of a literary genre other than smut. From what Margery’s been told about [name_m]Juan[/name_m] [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] Hernandez’s barbecue incident, she believes that [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] [name_u]Denim[/name_u] did a good job handling the conflict that Crotch set on [name_u]Cielo[/name_u]. [name_f]Margery[/name_f] also thinks the [name_m]Rodriguez[/name_m] family handled it well after the party, from what she’s heard from [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] later. [name_m]Juan[/name_m] [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] also felt bad, since he’s a much more smiley and happy person when things go well.

[name_f]Margery[/name_f] thinks that [name_m]Juan[/name_m] [name_m]Carlos[/name_m] was good as a kind-hearted and gentle host but his wife [name_f]María[/name_f] was lacking however and could have done a better job with the ordeal, especially since the fight was a puppy-love thing over the [name_m]Hernandez[/name_m] daughter [name_f]Macie[/name_f]. [name_f]María[/name_f] seemed to have not played a role to help things. So as a result of this lacking job; it was up to Crotch to do the one thing he would do in the scenario – fight with [name_u]Cielo[/name_u] to prove himself tough and bold for [name_f]Macie[/name_f], as if this was something he was born to do and [name_u]Cielo[/name_u] was inferior, only to end up at the cost of losing and having to apologise at [name_u]Nikki[/name_u] and [name_m]Juan[/name_m] Carlos’ request. Good job, Crotch. Good job, [name_f]María[/name_f]. By no means does [name_f]Margery[/name_f] hate [name_f]María[/name_f] or lessen Crotch’s actions. She also feels no glorification to the late [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] Denim’s actions that led to his passing, but she never insults him (even if a [name_u]Denim[/name_u] family member does) and understands his family has every right to grieve him. Part of [name_f]Margery[/name_f] wishes to see it through the paternal side of the [name_u]Denim[/name_u] family; whether they’re reckless or protective or in between, but she’s not going to make them take therapy, even if she does see them around.

tw: death; drunk driving; depression; unhealthy coping mechanisms

[name_f]Sharon[/name_f] " [name_u]Shay[/name_u] " [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] (22) is another one of Margery’s bereavement clients, who’s complexities are arguably able to rival the state of affairs surrounding [name_f]Levia[/name_f]. Shay’s entire world was broken apart when she lost her high school sweetheart mere weeks after graduation, when he was involved in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. Although he survived the initial impact of the crash, the efforts of doctors proved tragically fruitless thanks to the injuries caused by the collision, and he passed away in hospital three days after the initial incident. The woman responsible was a [name_f]Karen[/name_f] esq. PTA mom who had hidden her alcoholism from her family for almost a decade, and it was that fateful night when everything was exposed in the most horrific of manners.

In spite of the sentence handed down and backlash she received in the local community were worthless to [name_u]Shay[/name_u] though: the love of her life was gone and everything seemed pointless without him. They were the golden couple of their school, known for their happiness, and everyone was convinced marriage would follow college graduations. [name_u]Shay[/name_u] did manage to pursue higher education, believing she owed it to her boyfriend, however she’s only just scraped by getting her degree in history and has no intention of pursuing a masters as she once planned - instead working a pretty listless retail job at a clothing outlet owned by her aunt, where she’s primarily responsible for stock checks and accounting of weekly sales.

With her depression peaking in the aftermath of a documentary airing about the accident, [name_u]Shay[/name_u] has embarked on a relationship with the younger brother of her deceased boyfriend, a decision she knows deep down isn’t the right choice, but she’s desperate to keep closeness with the happiest time of her life in whatever way she can find it. There are many things she appreciates and values about him, however part of her knows there will be a tendency to compare her to the man she loved so dearly and lost. Shay’s been honest with [name_f]Margery[/name_f] that she feels very listless and stuck, lacking a vision about where to head and how to truly overcome her grief. This isn’t helped by the fact her parents are people who prescribe to the belief disengaging from outward displays of emotion, and privacy is absolutely what they prioritise, meaning [name_u]Shay[/name_u] doesn’t really feel comfortable opening up to even her friends.

[name_f]Tonisha[/name_f] “ [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] “ [name_f]Everlie[/name_f] [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] (51) is Shay’s aunt who works in the shop with [name_u]Shay[/name_u], who is very anti-Karen. She’s willing to be there for her niece and make sure she has enough money for living, even when [name_u]Shay[/name_u] says she doesn’t have to. She’s even offered to let [name_u]Shay[/name_u] live with her. Mainly because [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] knows [name_u]Shay[/name_u] really needs people there for her, but [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] never acts like the type to simply give [name_u]Shay[/name_u] money but never any emotional support. She’s hoping [name_u]Shay[/name_u] doesn’t lose sight of her dreams but isn’t pushing anything on [name_u]Shay[/name_u] and supports her unconditionally. After all, Tonie’s husband passed away 10 years ago and she remembers how kind and sweet [name_u]Shay[/name_u] was to her, especially seeing [name_u]Shay[/name_u] was just 12 years old at the time. In a bitter feeling of fate, Tonie’s late husband was a widower himself before he married her 14 years after his previous wife passed away. By no means did [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] imagine being widowed herself, and felt wrong being on that side of life for the past decade. She’s been very kind to her husband and never felt like competing with his first wife, and she feels the same vibe about Shay’s new boyfriend. [name_u]Shay[/name_u] had never met her husband’s first wife so she has no memories of the late woman, but she feels a sense of connection having both loved the same man and if there’s an afterlife where the two are together again, she hopes they’re both happy in it. She won’t forget her own love with him however, seeing he was still a person despite all of this. Despite a decade, [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] still refers to him in present tense at times such as, “I have a husband,” and “I love my husband,” rather than “had” or “loved”. She’s gone to accept when others refer to her relationship with him as “had” but isn’t that way when she hears someone say “loved”.

[name_u]Tonie[/name_u] knew about Shay’s boyfriend and the brother of said boyfriend, supportive of both. She has no children of her own but always felt that of her nieces and nephews that Shay’s relationship with her boyfriend was the strongest. It was a clear and concise match, not like two random young people pairing off with anyone and calling it “love”. [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] is a stickler on love and doesn’t approve when people say it without meaning it, no matter who they are, so she doesn’t underestimate Shay’s feelings. She’s on rocky terms with her brother and sister-in-law, knowing firsthand that they’re not the best with grief support. She stays in contact with them and isn’t trying to leave but she doesn’t want to devote herself to people who aren’t going to share that mutual love for her. Still, if something bad happened to either of them, she’d be rushing over to support them the first minute she hears it…despite believing wholeheartedly that they wouldn’t do the same for her. She secretly didn’t know whether [name_u]Shay[/name_u] should introduce her new date to them but wasn’t sure what to say because she feels [name_u]Shay[/name_u] doesn’t have many options for who to turn to. [name_u]Shay[/name_u] herself hasn’t decided to do so at the moment because she feels she already knows what will happen anyway. After a game of cricket, something [name_u]Tonie[/name_u] loves to do every weekend, she was finally told by [name_u]Shay[/name_u] about her new boyfriend, and saw them together for the first time as a new couple. Without a doubt, [name_u]Shay[/name_u] supported him and told him about her bond with [name_u]Shay[/name_u] and her liking towards playing cricket, but also that she genuinely wishes him the best.

[name_f]Harmonia[/name_f] " [name_m]Harry[/name_m] " [name_f]Lina[/name_f] Auldwalk, nee [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] (33) is Tonie’s niece and Shay’s cousin, being the second eldest on the [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] side of the family. Expecting her first child - a little girl, although this knowledge has only been shared with a select, trusted few (including Tonie) - Harry’s been facing her own pressure. Her older sister has 2 children already and always makes parenting seeing effortless for her, so Harry’s anticipating feeling inadequate by comparison, as she honestly feels quite intimidated at the thought of raising her daughter.

It’s partly also because Harry’s husband’s job often takes him abroad, so she knows she’ll be adjusting to these changes too. Being apart has never phased [name_m]Harry[/name_m] before, but she doesn’t want their child being impacted while her husband negotiates his contract further, to ensure he isn’t being called out of the country as frequently. The couple want to honour both of their heritages in their daughters’ name, and they’ve already picked out a Welsh first name for her, something [name_m]Harry[/name_m] admits she’s pleased about, given her love of mythology from her husbands’ homeland.

Although she’s on maternity leave officially, [name_m]Harry[/name_m] tries to get prints continually designed when she has a moment. She makes designs for bags, mugs, coasters, pretty much anything that can be easily developed using lino prints, having a joint business with her close friend, who’s a graphic designer, and already a mother to twin boys. [name_m]Harry[/name_m] used to babysit often and loved it, so of course the pair are grumbling about losing her to her own baby.

Warning for aforementioned grief and dishonest dating.

[name_m]Chadwick[/name_m] “ [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] “ [name_m]Valerian[/name_m] [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] (58) is Harry’s father, Tonie’s brother, and Shay’s uncle. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] is working as a cook, which he is anlways happy to do every day, and loves making food with mouthwatering aromas. He’s always been a cool and fun father to his two daughters and tries not to add pressure to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] – both his daughters deserve to feel happy and secure. He had a high feeling that Harry’s unborn child was a girl before the information was told to him, simply because, “As a father of two amazing women, I know when it’s going to be girl.” He still doesn’t tell others though in respect of Harry’s privacy even if he thought in his head, “I knew it!” He is supportive of Harry’s sister and her two children but never made it a competition between the two women in any way. His lifestyle rubs off on [name_m]Tonie[/name_m], in making sure she never made her grief of her late husband into a competition between her mourning and Shay’s mourning of her boyfriend. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] has been very supportive of his daughters’ relationships and didn’t know Shay’s romantic connection with her deceased boyfriend as well as [name_m]Tonie[/name_m] did, but he always has nice things to say about their love. He always likes to remember nice things about everyone and keeps those memories fresh, rather than relegating Shay’s late boyfriend as “that niece’s dead boyfriend”. Admittedly, he wasn’t too strongly influenced at the time of meeting Harry’s then-boyfriend-now-husband when they first met. Although he trusted the man well enough to not believe he’d do something reckless – like randomly get up and leave [name_m]Harry[/name_m] to stay in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] – he wasn’t sure how the man would balance his life with the travels. But he’s pleasantly surprised and honestly glad to be proven wrong.

[name_m]Chuck[/name_m] didn’t have a remarkable story with his own wife at first, it just started as a normal date. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] isn’t the type to take a date too seriously as more than a date, but he’s always open and excited for how things go on. Both he and his wife are proudly [name_m]Black[/name_m] and are support of good [name_m]Black[/name_m] maternal health. His wife has African ancestors while his are Afro-Caribbean but thanks to one another, alongside the help of Harry’s husband, [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] is more fascinated by the world and cultures. Talking about culture on their first date was also something they did a lot which made it more interesting to go forward. He knows he and Tonie’s youngest brother also felt the same way about dates but he was even less serious than [name_m]Chuck[/name_m]. In fact, he usually left dates before they finish not out of worry for his safety, but simply because he was bored. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] and Tonie’s brother once went on a date with a woman and was decent enough to let the date finish. They even exchanged phone numbers! However, he immediately decided to ask someone else on a date the next day before giving the woman he just dated a chance to plan out a second date. In his mind, it wasn’t really cheating because they weren’t a serious relationship and their one date already ended. Oddly enough, they did end up staying together and even marrying and having [name_f]Shay[/name_f], but neither of them were that emotional or had true love. They just stuck together because they rarely argued, were okay with living among one another, and simply because “they’re adults and marriage is what adults do”. This is why they didn’t comfort [name_f]Shay[/name_f] as well as the others during Shay’s grief and depression because they couldn’t relate to Shay’s feelings whereas [name_m]Tonie[/name_m] could. [name_m]Tonie[/name_m] had also felt the same way from the couple firsthand, which drifted them apart. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] has been the most patient and feels as the eldest [name_m]Thorp[/name_m] sibling that he needs to help everything work out together. But he really doesn’t support them and is trying to make sure that doesn’t hurt how much he respects and cares about [name_f]Shay[/name_f]. [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] stays a happy person thanks to his own family and he and [name_m]Harry[/name_m] have been talking a lot more. He admires being a grandfather, making him feel even more of a dad vibe than before, and the fact that both his daughters wanted children is why it’s even more of a gift that they have them.

Currently [name_f]Lux[/name_f] doesn’t mind being babied much by [name_m]Kapri[/name_m], although their mom jokingly warns her firstborn often that this may change as time passes, especially as [name_f]Lux[/name_f] can be assertive in her own ways. She’s very protective of her lego sets and loves working with playdough as well, usually crafting little animals she plays with should [name_m]Kapri[/name_m] not be around for them to indulge in games together.

Being the apple of her granddad’s eye is something else [name_f]Lux[/name_f] won’t take kindly to the idea of sharing, as she absolutely adores him, and will fight for his attention should the moment call upon this. The sisters’ have their mom’s surname because their dad found his didn’t compliment [name_m]Kapri[/name_m] as a first name, and when [name_f]Lux[/name_f] came along they wanted consistency so there wasn’t confusion for their children going forwards. It does stand out to some people but [name_f]Lux[/name_f] isn’t phased by questions currently, even if she’s happier letting her mom answer.

The eldest of the cousins, [name_f]Bella[/name_f] sometimes feels pressure to set a good example, as she doesn’t want to put poor notions in the heads of her loved one’s. Being a naturally carefree person though is why she had more anxiety about it, as [name_f]Bella[/name_f] admits she’s not always that focused on planning, and instead just goes with the flow. Her parents and husband never bemoan this though, as Bella’s breezy way of living helps to keep more calm at home, which really helps settle down her daughters’.

Working as a librarian, people don’t always believe [name_f]Bella[/name_f] could keep order in her working environment, but she handles it just fine. Really her very approachable nature means people don’t rebel as frankly they’d feel bad seeing her disrupted! [name_f]Bella[/name_f] does joke that she’s ‘boring’ next to [name_m]Harry[/name_m], a ‘total girlboss’, as she loves to teasingly call her younger sister.

[name_m]Kapri[/name_m] actually has semi-regular playdates with the twin sons of Harrys’ best friend, and it makes the women laugh that Bellas’ oldest is the leader, in spite of the boys having an advantage as a duo. Seeing her daughter’s confidence blossom is something [name_f]Bella[/name_f] loves though, with the same applying to [name_f]Lux[/name_f], the ‘forewoman’ as her husband affectionately calls their youngest.

Bella’s also been doing her best to provide support to her cousin [name_f]Shay[/name_f], who’s been in a state of turmoil since her boyfriend died. About a month ago, [name_f]Shay[/name_f] finally ended her current relationship, with the brother of the love she lost, and it’s been a huge relief for the whole family this happened, as everyone knew disaster would end up happening if things continued. It doesn’t mean everything is perfect though, and Bella’s been trying to see if something could inspire [name_f]Shay[/name_f] once more to pursue what makes her happy.
