A summer baby, [name_f]Merike[/name_f] loves everything about her birth season, something she shares with her Uncle [name_f]Kallan[/name_f], even if he was born in autumn. She loves few things as much as going to the beach and splashing in the water, looking in rock pools and building sandcastles, having a bit of a competitive streak at this.
[name_f]Merike[/name_f] also often wants to follow her big sister around, something that does get annoying for 4-year-old [name_f]Anneka[/name_f]. Their parents do find it very cute to witness but step in for [name_f]Anneka[/name_f] when she’s obviously wanting some space, and although [name_f]Merike[/name_f] isn’t happy about this, she’s not grumpy for long. [name_f]Anneka[/name_f] now being at nursery has also helped with her getting used to not having her sister around and following less.

She is married to Mr. [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] and is a proud mommy to their daughters. She is close with [name_f]Kallan[/name_f] and [name_f]Erinn[/name_f] and somewhat feels a sense of pain. [name_f]Karine[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] (33) is Lindsays’ sister-in-law who’s currently in hospital, thanks to a flare up of her existing health issues with chronic fatigue syndrome. Having studied in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] prior to her modelling career, [name_f]Karine[/name_f] is planning on switching to behind of the camera following she and Whitneys’ wedding, as she doesn’t want to be jet setting around constantly. She’s always been a pretty easygoing and adaptable, however believes firmly in work-life boundaries, as she’s the daughter of two workaholic parents who weren’t very present for her childhood and high school accomplishments thanks to their jobs always coming first.
Although people haven’t understood it at first glance, [name_f]Karine[/name_f] received her diagnosis when she was in her late teens, after bouts of exhaustion led to her being off school. This made her modelling work a challenge when she started working in the industry, as people weren’t tolerant of her needs in order to not be uncomfortable or put in difficult situations. Finding a company that not only respected and understood her boundaries but aided in advocacy was everything [name_f]Karine[/name_f] hoped for, even before she decided to enter the modelling world.
What’s currently going on with [name_f]Karine[/name_f] thankfully isn’t too serious, it’s actually something she’s encountered before, however she understands the fears of [name_f]Lindsay[/name_f] and has done her best to reassure her since she was admitted. [name_f]Karine[/name_f] hasn’t experienced any major health concerns since her brother and [name_f]Lindsay[/name_f] became a couple, which has led to this being more of a shock, especially as her nieces have needed more clarification as to what’s happening with her. She’s been able to assure them somewhat, as her girlfriend’s visited her daily and she’s hoping to be home sooner than later.

[name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] (31) is Karines’ brother, husband of [name_f]Lindsay[/name_f] and father of [name_f]Merike[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneka[/name_f], who he absolutely dotes upon at every given chance. Growing up, [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] was always a mini-me of sorts to his sister, following her round and serving as her little assistant in all her bold ventures. Being a more passive person isn’t something [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] lets anyone talk badly about, even now, as his more easygoing and amicable nature makes him well equipped to any conflict impacting those he loves. When his daughters are squabbling over something, Gerrit’s’ totally at ease talking to them both to resolve the issue, and he’ll always take time to listen to them even after sorries are said.

When compared to his wife, [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] has a much lower key career, but again, it suits his nature perfectly. He co-owns a garage with his close friend, serving as the business side of things. [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] manages the accounts and works to promote the business, with their profile being pretty high thanks to Lindsays’ connections. They’re very private when it comes to those who come to see them, which has led to popularity with industry names, as discretion is always promised. [And Gerrits’ co-owner also jokes that half the time he doesn’t recognise people anyways, as he’s got a terrible memory for faces.]

[name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] has a good relationship with his unofficial sister-in-law [Karines’ girlfriend), thanks to how supportive and caring she is; not just with [name_f]Karine[/name_f] but beyond to the rest of the [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] family too. He’s always happy to embrace others, having had the same attitude towards the [name_m]Brown[/name_m] family. While [name_m]Gerrit[/name_m] doesn’t overstep boundaries [as becoming too entwined with in-laws just sounds like a recipe for disaster in his mind], he’s made sure to be on good terms with Lindsay’s two siblings: one’s nonbinary and the other’s her brother.

Naeema Stacia Alshareef (34) is Karine’s girlfriend and most frequent visitor, beating even Gerrit, which she loves to tease him about. She’s also someone who often does her best to reassure Lindsay about the status of Karines’ health, as she knows how much the younger woman cares for others, and doesn’t want stress to impact her life too.
Funnily enough, just after Lindsay and Gerrit started dating, she worked with Naeema, meaning they met before Lindsay and Karine were introduced. Naeema is a professional MUA who works in the film and television industry, having worked on the show Hollywood Steps, which Lindsay starred on, being in the position of teaching young up-and-coming actors how to dance for projects they were going to be working on.
Naeemas’ naturally fun and upbeat personality meant they clicked quickly, and it’s something Karine insists is why she fell in love with Naeema so fast. They have been a couple for 9 years now though, so it’s not unfounded in the scheme of things either.
Although she isn’t legally the aunt of Merike and Anneka, this doesn’t stop the girls from calling her their ‘Auntie Eema’, something that Naeema considers one of her greatest honours. She’s biological aunt to her older brothers’ son as well, and really would like to have a family of her own some day, but it’s not something Naeema feels any need to rush into right now.

He and his fiancé are happily together raising their son, though ironically their love started in an odd way. The two men were both attracted to someone else, but decided they weren’t going to compete and fell out of love. They became good friends, then ironically found love with
one another[name_f][/name_f]! [name_m]Zikri[/name_m] is a sapiophile, meaning one who finds attraction in high intelligence. He doesn’t care where potential lovers work as a career, as long as they have a brilliant mind, he finds this very attractive. He cringes at those who want their partner to be “dumb”, mainly because very low intelligence is a major turn-off, but also he feels people who want “dumb lovers” are only in it to take advantage of them. [name_m]Zikri[/name_m] works in medical technology and he loves to talk about this, though he claims his job “isn’t his life”. He always said this even when he was working lots of hours, but being engaged and having a son settled him down and made him much less workaholic. He fully believes overwork and intelligence do not go hand-in-hand.[name_f][/name_f]
He thinks Naeema is the most entertaining person in his life, and credits her for giving him some groove. She’s the eternally cool younger sister he’s grateful to have. With Zikri’s job in medical tech, he’s alleviated Lindsey’s fears about Karine’s hospitalisation, but understands where [name_f]Lindsey[/name_f] is coming from. He’s grateful he and his future in-laws are healthy and free of chronic ailments, though he doesn’t see [name_f]Karine[/name_f] as any lesser for her chronic fatigue syndrome. [name_m]Zikri[/name_m] typically doesn’t eat meat, but “relapsed” after 2 years meat-free, and he’s not sure how to feel about that. He feels it’s a setback, but he knows there are people who eat meat all the time and it doesn’t hurt them. Zikri’s questioning if he’s a true vegetarian, mainly for his own diet, as it doesn’t bother him if others eat meat. He considers himself in the vegetarian community, but only wants his son to be one if he wants to. [name_m]Zikri[/name_m] is a fan of lots of people and media, but he never involves himself too closely, given how most fanbases end up getting toxic. He and Gerrit’s friend and garage co-owner are both fans of multiple actors and movie franchises, and he’s the most non-toxic fan [name_m]Zikri[/name_m] knows, which is a plus for him.
