Create a Family With a Twist 5/1

[name_m]Frey[/name_m] [name_u]Andersen[/name_u] [name_m]Byron[/name_m] [34] is a cousin of [name_m]Aodh[/name_m] and [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f], older brother to [name_u]Alvah[/name_u]. Like his father he’s also met his sister’s dog and agrees that the pooch is a great partner-in-crime for his sister and her journeys. Unlike her, [name_m]Frey[/name_m] prefers to put down roots and has a carpentry business in his hometown nearby his father’s yoga studio, having built a few of the birdhouses his father and uncle adore so much. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] has a few of his own that he has around his home and his place of work. In addition to keeping in one place with his job, he also feels similarly about his relationships. [name_m]Frey[/name_m] has been with his partner since high school and it seems that they’re intent on staying together for the rest of their lives. They’re very compatible and see eye to eye on many of lives little divides. Except for one…

[name_m]Frey[/name_m] is keen on marrying them, but his partner isn’t so sure. Being a child of divorce the idea of marriage has been a little sullied in their eyes. Always saying “Why ruin what we have going on?” in response to Frey’s insistence on tying the knot. For the most part, it hasn’t been an issue in their relationship, other than getting under his skin. But there might be a little more strain in their relationship soon as Frey’s patience begins to run thin as he feels like those around him are beginning to move on, with [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f] and her husband’s baby on the way and most of his high school friends having married or welcomed a few kids of their own by now, [name_m]Frey[/name_m] is beginning to see the cons that staying in one place has.

[name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] Hoffman (33) is Frey’s partner. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_m]Frey[/name_m] were acquainted since she moved to the school in 8th grade but didn’t get close until the 11th grade when [name_f]Millie[/name_f] was assigned to [name_m]Frey[/name_m] as his chemistry partner for a project. The two hit it off based on their mutual interests and have been together since [name_m]Frey[/name_m] asked her to homecoming in the 11th grade. They are still very much in love, but they have a source of conflict because [name_m]Frey[/name_m] wans to get married, but [name_f]Millie[/name_f] doesn’t want to go through the hassle of planning an entire wedding.

[name_f]Millie[/name_f] grew up in a house with her mom and dad, but they often fought and they ended up getting divorced when [name_f]Millie[/name_f] was 8 years old. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] took this very hard, and it faltered her belief in marriage because she feels that marriage is just another modern tradition that wastes a lot of money and usually ends in couples coming to their downfall anyway. To [name_f]Millie[/name_f], it doesn’t mater if they get married as long as they are happy. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] does want to have children though, she just never had the desire to get married to someone to be in love with them.

[name_f]Millie[/name_f] has two younger sisters and a older younger brother, but she is closest to her youngest sister. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is a staff in a teenage psychiatric hospital, a job which she loves. She hates treatment people give to people with mental illnesses and wants to help them. She is loved by a majority of her patients and even the rebellious and at risk teens don’t mess with her because of her no-nonsense attitude and refusal to let the kids walk over her, while also being a fun and innovative person who designs different activities for them as well as advocated for the kids to be able to go outside more as the facility she works at often doesn’t have much outside time.

[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Camille[/name_u] Fenhough (32) is Millie’s best friend and future single mother by choice, having gone through IVF to conceive her first child, and she’s very much been private about her journey through pregnancy: no dangerous gender reveals; no cryptic insta posts; no needless mentioning of things to her friends who aren’t planning on starting a family. [name_u]Harper[/name_u] wants this to be a positive time for everyone, and she’s not ignorant to the fact that - for some people - it means not turning pregnancy into her whole personality.

[name_f]Millie[/name_f] jokes this would be tricky though: Harper’s a very humorous person, even if she’s more dry and self-deprecating than a traditionally boisterous class clown. It actually fits into her profession well: she’s in entertainment and artistry management, specifically focusing on the world of writing, which is preferable to her stint in music [Harper only has horror stories from then].

She’s pretty private about who she’s met through her job too, only keeping her closest loved one’s up to date on connections, however no-one can deny [name_u]Harper[/name_u] isn’t appreciative and committed to her clients. In particular, she’s dedicated to uplifting young women who might be overlooked, as it’s something [name_u]Harper[/name_u] faced when she began her career, and feeding into toxic cycles is the last outcome she wants. Her older sister’s actually involved in this world too, being a fashion magazine editor and co-president, while her younger brother’s part of the FX scene in movies: the siblings having not shared their parents academic sensibilities, as they love to joke.

The Fenhough and Hoffman families have long been connected with one another, thanks to a friendship between [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and Millie’s grandparents, who ensured subsequent generations remained acquainted. It’s a surprise that the two have only recently joined in a more official capacity: Harper’s sister and Millie’s brother have a 4-year-old daughter together, although they’re currently remaining as partners, not wanting to have a grand wedding with their sights set on purchasing a comfortable home close to good schools for their family looking forwards.

[name_u]Jagger[/name_u] [name_m]Florimond[/name_m] Fenhough (29) is the youngest Fenhough, who works in FX in movies. One of his weird hobbies is watching old movies with bad effects, it makes him cringe but it motivates him in a sense! He knows [name_u]Harper[/name_u] is pregnant but he won’t tell anyone without getting her approval first, not even his best friends! He has a (not so) secret too — he has pictures of himself at the bottom of Mount [name_u]Everest[/name_u] looking like he’s about to climb up. He says he climbed Mount [name_u]Everest[/name_u]. While he wasn’t lying about that, he never said he reached the top of Mount [name_u]Everest[/name_u]! In fact, he only took a few steps, took photos, and then got back down. He had no intent to actually climb it at all, he just wanted to visit it. Most people don’t believe him anyway, which he jokingly doesn’t mind, especially disbelieving the part where he claims he didn’t plan the climb at all. The Hoffmans laugh in disbelief and ask, “You didn’t plan at all? You just spawned in the Himalayas somehow at the bottom of Mount [name_u]Everest[/name_u] and so your next move was to just climb the highest mountain in the world?” But that part is technically true, he did not plan it!

While he can be quite silly and a loophole-lover, he can be serious when he needs to be. He dated someone in university before he got his career doing FX for a studio. They split amicably shortly after getting their career at the same studio. Another co-worker of [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] dated her in the workplace and [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] warned his co-worker not to get too involved with a co-worker since it won’t work out. He didn’t listen to [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] and they did break up, but [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] didn’t go “I told you so” since he did really enjoy all his co-workers. His two co-workers are actually back together now, and he’s avoided interference and is alright with being wrong on this one. [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] enjoys the single life, feeling a good sense of that from his sister [name_u]Harper[/name_u], and is excited about her baby-to-be. He has no idea what gender Harper’s baby is, or even whether she knows the gender of her own child. Not that it matters, he supports his sister’s matter on the pregnancy.

He’s super excited whenever he sees the Hoffmans, he loves the families bond and gets along with his 4-year-old niece. His maternal grandparents liked to look after other kids a lot like a babysitter so his mother was used to having “surrogate siblings” while his paternal grandparents have their bond with the Hoffmans, starting this family bond within the generations. [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] was surprised, although happy, when the news of the now 4-year-old daughter came around, especially since it was his first niece, and he’s gotten along well with her. [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] loves looking at small sea life but also supports them out in the ocean, alongside supporting this with larger sea life. Jagger’s fave sea animal is the starfish, although he loves oceans where he can swim with all the fish. He has actually encountered a shark before, something he doesn’t mention much since most people won’t believe it, but he evaded it and let the shark be, so he didn’t get harmed. The experience opened him up on the fact sharks are so overhated and while he was scared to see the shark, he feels it helped him in a sense.

[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f] Hoffman (4) is [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] and Harper’s niece, born to their older sister and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] Hoffman’s older brother. Both [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] have told [name_f]Julia[/name_f] that her parents made [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] sisters, and she’s special because now they share a blood relative. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is very proud of this and works hard to make her aunties proud. She loves her curly hair and mixed skin color; her mother makes sure to make her understand that every skin color is beautiful and you can love who you want, even if they look different or are the same gender as you. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] likes seeing this in her mom and dad, as well as [name_f]Millie[/name_f] & [name_m]Frey[/name_m], who she calls “Uncle Frey” despite them not being married. She also knows that [name_u]Harper[/name_u] has chosen to have children on her own, and her parents have reassured her that as long as a child is loved, it doesn’t matter who is taking care of them.

[name_f]Julia[/name_f] loves bows and headbands and frilly clothes, and being the only child in the family (until Harper’s baby is born), she gets a lot of those from all her relatives. She has a great relationship with her grandparents and aunts and uncles, particularly [name_u]Jagger[/name_u]. They both share a love of sea animals, in fact, [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] has taken her to the beach and aquariums many times, and the two of them discuss and learn about the fish or just sit and watch in silence. She also loves learning about his job, it’s just so interesting to her! She has asked him many times if he “made” some of her favorite movies; [name_u]Snow[/name_u] White, Finding [name_m]Nemo[/name_m], & [name_u]Rio[/name_u], and [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] doesn’t exactly know how to say no, seeing the tiny, sweet face. His sisters laugh about him being kind of a push-over, but [name_u]Jagger[/name_u] doesn’t think it’s funny at all! He’s terrified of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] not liking him. This has rubbed off a bit on Julia…she’s terrified that Harper’s baby will hate her, but the siblings are confident that the cousins will be very close and very loved by each other.

Warning for aforementioned mental illness mentions.

[name_f]Attie[/name_f] [name_f]Ivara[/name_f] Hoffman (29) is Julia’s aunt and Millie’s younger sister. She shares Millie’s views that the youngest Hoffman sibling really does have a great way of bonding with people and she feels the closest telling her personal stuff with her younger sister. She bonds a lot with [name_f]Julia[/name_f], whom she states is the “centrepiece of the clan” and is grateful for such accepting people raising her. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] seems to catch on that [name_f]Attie[/name_f] is bi, and [name_f]Attie[/name_f] is willing to discuss this if [name_f]Julia[/name_f] asks. She knows that Julia’s parents prefer a life partnership than marriage and [name_f]Attie[/name_f] is supportive of that, but she’s never thought much about whether she’d have children before or after marriage. She’s single but unlike [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_u]Jagger[/name_u], she wouldn’t mind a relationship one day. She’s bisexual but no, she isn’t dating a Fenhough and she jokes that the Fenhough/Hoffman clan is already tight-knit and she doesn’t want her “awkwardness” to affect that. She’s close with [name_f]Millie[/name_f] in the fact that they’re co-workers at the same hospital, with [name_f]Attie[/name_f] being a nurse. They relate to all the stories on their workplace and have a bond, although they sometimes can have friendly coworker/sibling rivalries. They’re still on stellar terms and [name_f]Attie[/name_f] couldn’t ask for a cooler family - although she also jests that the Fenhoughs are a cooler family.

[name_f]Attie[/name_f] enjoys that some of the teenagers checking into the psychiatrics hospital are doing better, such as [name_u]Keeley[/name_u], who checked in after her own anxiety that her sister [name_f]Sofi[/name_f] temporarily went missing. It’s been a long year for [name_f]Sofi[/name_f] since then and they’ve made sure the sisters have felt better around one another while. [name_f]Sofi[/name_f] is also taking therapy and doesn’t quite remember the reasons for her disappearance, but she’s improving a little more daily. [name_m]Yusuf[/name_m] and [name_f]Haidee[/name_f] have been a huge help as well, especially given their bonds and the ways they’ve worked together. Since the year, they’ve ventured on a nice little vacation and now have a 2-month old baby in their family. [name_f]Attie[/name_f] shares the sentiment to take mental health seriously but also to enjoy the great moments in life, which is something she feels a lot from [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and her parents’ bond with them. [name_f]Attie[/name_f] knows her brother changed since being a father, but he changed in a good way and she sees his nice personality no matter what. [name_f]Attie[/name_f] is currently in the process of writing some book, but it’s just drafts and excerpts for now, having no idea when it will really finish. She is considering trying calligraphy and seeing it as an art form, which her brother and sister-in-law know most. Regardless of whether they have more children or not, they’re always happy about [name_f]Julia[/name_f], and [name_f]Attie[/name_f] finds [name_f]Julia[/name_f] a hilarious toddler and always wishes her greatness.

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] " [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] " [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Featherly (29) is Attie’s close friend, who does their best to provide support where work matters are concerned - respecting and admiring her for what she provides through her job. Things have become a bit more complicated since [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] fell pregnant with their first child, a semi-planned decision by them and their partner, as they’ve been together for nine years and are in a position where they’re ready to raise a family, it just wasn’t explicitly discussed. Both of them are gender fluid, so parental terms have been questioned by their families, however [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] wasn’t phased by this.

Their parents are both from conservative backgrounds, so when both of their children came out - [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] as non-binary, their sister as pansexual - there was a lot of educating required, but the support was unwavering, something that means the most to their children. Dottie’s partner is they/he and comfortable with dad being used for them, whereas for [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] it was a bit more of a complex process, as they were concerned about feeling dysphoria. Ultimately they’ve decided to use ‘mib’ for themselves, a term they figured out with their sister, as that was what she’d call [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] when she was little and its got a lot of sentimental meaning attached subsequently.

In spite of being hitched themselves, Dottie’s also a staunch supporter of [name_f]Attie[/name_f] remaining single, and never feeling pressured about dating. The pair have been friends since college, when they were in a randomly assigned house share, and bonded as the two voices of reason whenever arguments broke out, which was frequent as they lived with a very hot/cold couple who were performing a non-televised reality show for everyone. [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] majored in environmental sciences and is currently involved in local work identifying sources of pollution with the goal being formulating plans to combat this. They joke their eco warrior side is only reflected in their garden, which they tend to with devotion, even more so now they’re on leave in anticipation of giving birth.

[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u] “ [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] “ Featherly (23) is the little sister of [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] Featherly, and her biggest supporter. In spite of their rather large age gap, [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] grew up best of friends and [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is doing everything she can to take care of the baby. While [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is not currently interested in a relationship, having just got out of art school and gotten out of a terrible breakup, she is very happy for [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and their partner and wishes the best for them.

A free spirit by nature, [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] doesn’t like being tied down too often and is a little commitment-phobic most of the time, but not with her ex- the two were inseparable, but the decision to split was amicable and despite it absolutely crushing [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], she’s glad the two ended it on good terms. She’s currently juggling her job as a first grade art teacher and her part-time barista work, which is extremely emotionally taxing for her, and if [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] had more money she would quit being a barista right away. However, she loves kids and really enjoys her work at the local elementary school.

[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] doesn’t want to work as an art teacher forever, though- she isn’t really sure what she wants to do and isn’t really tied down to one plan at the moment, mainly because there are so many career paths and opportunities she could go down and the thought of being stuck in one for the rest of her life terrifies her. Luckily, she has her family support network to help, and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] has told her time and time again that if everything doesn’t work out, she can move in with them.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Denise[/name_f] Featherly (née [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] ) (53) is [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and Minnie’s mom. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] comes from a prominent conservative family in [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and moved north when her husband had the opportunity to start his own dental practice when her eldest was two . She always accepted her kids for who they were and is working on understanding more about being Pan-sexual and non-binary and what it means. She hasn’t told her family in the south yet as she hasn’t had a real relationship with them for years. She is scared of their reaction and doesn’t want her daughters to feel her families feelings. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and her husband’s friends have been super helpful and understanding. Her closest friend also had a bisexual son and has really helped [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is very excited for her grandchild and has already taken time of her busy job as a college lecturer to help her family out. She has decided that depending on how the run of work feels for her [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] might consider retiring. Her husband has been saving up for years to go “live out their years” somewhere exotic. They both wanted to travel but were busy with their jobs and careers. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and her husbands love each other deeply, they have both gone through a lot together and we’re all each other had when they first moved up. He helped [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] when she was just starting out her career and was always a present father with the girls.

[name_m]Oswald[/name_m] [name_m]Lyam[/name_m] Featherly (53) is Scarlett’s husband and father to [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. He’s glad he started his dental business, doing so with the help of his sister, and the two are co-owners. They’ve worked very equally and both are very close in age, although they were not always like this growing up. They never went to the same school at any time despite the small age gap because [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] only attended an all-boys school and his sister only attended an all-girls school. The siblings are grateful for one another or [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] wouldn’t have understood women and girls and she wouldn’t have understood men and boys. Working together strengthened their bond and helped that they both went to the same dentistry school so they could experience school together for once. [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] both went to public schools for all genders. Although the gap was too big for most of their school days, it helped [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] know what what to expect at Dottie’s schools when she would grow up enough to attend them. [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] is glad for this and is completely supportive of [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] being non-binary and having a genderfluid partner. He almost wanted to have both his children attend all-girls schools growing up since neither were male and the age gap would already separate them. But he decided against it, and he’s grateful because it would have otherwise limited Dottie’s identity to “just being female due to not being male” when they’re really non-binary and more than 2 genders exist. In fact, this led him to find himself in a new way, realising he’s not just a he but also he/they.

They also really support [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] after her own break-up with an ex, telling her it’s ok to feel hurt even if it’s amicable. They’re glad it’s amicable because they really trusted Minnie’s ex and family of said ex. Likewise, [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] trusts the genderfluid partner of [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and has asked if there’s any consideration this partner would use on parental names. [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] themself was always comfortable with “dad” but respects if this parent-to-be wants a different term for the kid to use. [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] and their sister lived in a household where children called their parents by “Sir/Lady” followed by their first name and they feel this took away some of the bond. It did pronounce their importance but it didn’t work in terms of a familiated connection. [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] is very committed as a dad and a spouse, being very comforting to [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] when she too has the same worries about her conservative family possibly coming back into her life. One thing that both value a lot are their friends as well, with [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] having many friends they see as family and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] still being very close with her best friend with the bisexual son…who also happens to be on good terms with Oswald’s sister as well!

[name_m]Crew[/name_m] [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] Ashwell (29) is Oswald’s unofficial-in-law, being Dottie’s partner and expectant parent. A metalworker who specialises in re and upcycling for an independent gallery, the Ashwell family are the diametrical opposites of the Featherly’s, always being alternative in their pursuits, and opting to homeschool their three children: [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and xeir two siblings. When it comes to parenting themselves, [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_m]Crew[/name_m] are wanting to meet in the middle. While xey loved being taught by xeir mom and dad, going to college really spiked Crews’ anxiety, as xey knew it would stand out and receive a lot of questions, not all of which would be from a place of good faith.

After some back and forth, [name_m]Crew[/name_m] has decided to go by ‘xef’ for parental term. Xey joke with xeir brother and sister about being let down - not having a childhood nickname to gain inspiration from - but Crew’s big sister is someone xey’ve particularly bonded with since [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] discovered they were expecting. She’s a mother to two daughters: a three-year-old and eighteen month old, who [name_m]Crew[/name_m] loves being xuncle too [another term that xey picked for xemself], and has been giving the expectant parents a lot of useful advice. Crew’s sister and her wife decided to adopt their youngest, which has led to xem and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] discussing this as a potential step for their family in the future: but for now one baby’s more than enough for them.

Recently Crew’s best friend - [name_m]Jesper[/name_m] - has come to xem with some joyous news: his sister, [name_f]Genie[/name_f], is expecting her first child through IVF! It’s not been an easy journey for her, plagued by concerns about not being able to conceive a child, and [name_m]Crew[/name_m] was sensitive to telling her when [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] became pregnant. [name_m]Jesper[/name_m] and [name_m]Crew[/name_m] met thanks to their mom’s being friends prior to their births, telling people they’ve bonded over their unusual names…and the fact they’ve both been involved in peaceful protesting since their younger years. [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] are also considered the ‘fun alternative adults’ by Jesper’s daughter, [name_f]Vespera[/name_f], which had led to him declaring the same will happen with the couple’s child when they grow up.

Talfryn ’ [name_m]Tal[/name_m] ’ [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] Featherly-Ashwell is [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and Dottie’s son, born on [name_f]Easter[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]. Dottie’s labour lasted approximately 7 hours, something they described as ‘the most intense workout of their life’, but one absolutely worthwhile. They went into hospital a day before delivery, and were kept company by [name_m]Crew[/name_m], their parents and sister, as well as Crews’ brother, as xeir parents were working at the family shop and xeir sister was with her family.

Of course, Mr and Mrs Ashwell were there in time for the delivery of their grandson, although everyone joked about the emotion for the Featherlys’, as this is their first grandchild. Tal’s stuffed animal was a gift from his maternal aunt [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], and he’s already proven to be incredibly attached to it, always wanting it close or else he becomes restless.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] jokes this wasn’t anywhere near easy, it’s evident how much [name_m]Tal[/name_m] already means to his mib and xef, being the absolute centre of their mutual world. His name was a bit of a last minute decision, as although they had settled on Talfryn for his first name, a middle honouring both of their dad’s was a bit trickier. Ultimately, [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] settled on phonetics - a strong H and O - to ensure both men were celebrated with Tal’s arrival.

[name_m]Cobalt[/name_m] [name_m]Tyrone[/name_m] Ashwell (27) is Tal’s paternal uncle and brother of [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and their sister. He is also an uncle to the kiddos of his sister and her wife as well, and supports both couples. [name_m]Cobalt[/name_m] can be petty but he’s not harsh, but he’ll step on toes when he has to. He’s had that personality before [name_f]Genie[/name_f] became part of the school board since he truly believed the school board wasn’t doing the right thing for the students. While he’s glad his homeschooling helped him in education and in mentality, he’s very supportive of everyone having a safe space to learn. Admittedly he loves his and his siblings’ unusual names alongside [name_m]Jesper[/name_m] and Genie’s names, and feels [name_m]Jesper[/name_m] and [name_f]Genie[/name_f] really enjoyed never sharing a name with someone else in a classroom. He’s also petty when people plagiarise stuff or completely copy someone else’s ideas, mainly since he runs a program to detect plagiarism. Though he’s also hugely supportive of humans having jobs and not letting technology take over that workforce. Especially in the cases of greed, when bosses use technology in replacement of human work so they don’t have to spend money paying people. He doesn’t like to villainise people, but he’s got pettiness coated with a layer of nice.

[name_m]Cobalt[/name_m] loves seeing [name_m]Tal[/name_m] grow but also the innocence especially since he’s not even a month old. He jokes he’s jealous that every day of Tal’s is celebrated when he’s this young whereas everyone else only gets one day a year to be celebrated. [name_m]Cobalt[/name_m] isn’t complaining since he had an awesome birthday and he likes celebrating birthdays as an adult. The kiddie celebrations were cute but now he feels he gets to be more low-key, which is how he’d want to spend that day. He loves silent discos because he enjoys the nightlife of clubbing without the chaos of regular clubs and likes listening to what he wants rather than basic pop at loud volumes. Admittedly [name_m]Cobalt[/name_m] isn’t as good with understanding how to stop crying babies, and when they don’t stop, he mumbles, “Ok keep crying. You just cry when you feel like it.” He’s used to this though thanks to his sister’s kids as well and he’s always enjoyed the kids anyway. He agrees the bunny is a good addition for [name_m]Tal[/name_m] by [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], given a cute and lovable vibe but doesn’t let [name_f]Easter[/name_f] overshadow his big arrival. He loves being there to meet [name_m]Tal[/name_m] and bonded more with the Featherly side, especially now that [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is a new aunt and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] are new grandparents.

It’s my birthday and I felt like it :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_f]Claudette[/name_f] " Detta " [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] Ashwell (34) is [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and Cobalt’s big sister, the eldest child of their parents and mother herself, specifically to two children, aged five and two. Working as one half of a home repair company, Detta specifically partners with charitable organisations making adjustments to the homes of people with mobility issues and/or disabilities, inspired by how she and her siblings’ maternal aunt is in a wheelchair. Of course, she’s experienced some disbelief when talking about her business, given sexism surrounding the construction industry, but Detta’s always had thick skin, very much encouraged by her parents and siblings.

Being raised with a unique name is something Detta’s always loved and it’s inspired the names of her own children: they’re unusual but within the realms of fairness, meaning there won’t be bullying or harassment facing either one of them - thankfully proven true now her eldest’s started school. The fact [name_m]Crew[/name_m] and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] chose a similar path for [name_m]Tal[/name_m] is something Detta wholly approves of, partly as she feels it furthers the bonds between her children and her nephew. Her kids have been a little uncertain about another grandchild entering the sphere of the Ashwell family - it was nice ruling the roost for them - however Detta’s wife is an only child, which has soothed their worries considerably.

She and her wife met thanks to a mutual friend when they were in their early 20s, specifically at a concert they were both invited to. The spark between them was pretty much instantaneous, something Detta was surprised by, as she’s not an inherent romantic. It’s not that she was ever disinterested in it or overly cynical, but having a partner was something Detta felt would happen if it happened, not a necessity for happiness - not that it diminishes her love for her wife in the slightest!

[name_m]Austen[/name_m] [name_f]Raine[/name_f] [name_m]Travis[/name_m] (34) is Detta’s business partner and close friend. [name_m]Austen[/name_m] met Detta in their early 20s at a trade school where they both pursued training in home construction. The two quickly bonded over their shared passion for making a difference in people’s lives through accessible housing. Together, they started a home repair company that focuses on working with charitable organizations and creating accessible spaces for people with mobility issues and disabilities.

While [name_m]Austen[/name_m] doesn’t have any personal experience with disability in their family, they have always been inspired by Detta’s commitment to accessibility, stemming from her aunt’s experiences. [name_m]Austen[/name_m] shares Detta’s strong work ethic and commitment to making a difference in their community. They are also deeply committed to challenging the sexist attitudes that persist in the construction industry.

In their personal life, [name_m]Austen[/name_m] is happily married to their high school sweetheart, who is a kindergarten teacher. They are also a proud parent to a beautiful two-year-old child, who is the light of their life. [name_m]Austen[/name_m] and Detta’s friendship extends to their families, who often come together for weekend barbecues and playdates with their children.

[name_m]Austen[/name_m] [name_f]Raine[/name_f] [name_m]Travis[/name_m] represents a deep and meaningful friendship in Detta’s life. The two share an incredible partnership that transcends their business pursuits and embodies the transformative power of genuine camaraderie.

Warning for misogyny.

[name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] Kimura [name_m]Travis[/name_m] (34) is Austen’s spouse, who uses she/they pronouns, and is their child’s ‘ [name_m]Pom[/name_m] ‘. She loves teaching kindergarten and is close with her older sister [name_f]Asayu[/name_f] Kimura and her wife and daughter as well. She’s glad [name_f]Nara[/name_f] is the sweetest little niece for her and is glad [name_f]Asayu[/name_f] put a stop to her bully’s actions. Nara’s been really happy lately though naturally back-to-school isn’t something she cares to talk about, but thankfully her classmates are super nice. [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] is a karate lover and is inspired by the moves, though she’s been assumed that women “aren’t really into that stuff” unless it’s self defence against some guy. [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] feels these sexist assumptions are really toxic, as that couldn’t be farther from the truth, and doesn’t even do anything to help those (of any gender) who are doing this for self defence. So she’s understood how that is for Detta to have misogynistic assumptions made. She’s glad that Detta and [name_m]Austen[/name_m] accommodate for the disabled without thinking they “can’t do anything”, much like she and Detta want to be seen as independent women who don’t need a man to always assist them.

While [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] relates a lot to the female community, they’re genderfluid and they have a lot of mutual love and bonding with [name_m]Austen[/name_m]. They enjoy being a couple that refuses to stay silent, who doesn’t hold back in a society that doesn’t always recognise they exist. [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] sometimes feels the sense of rebellion some people feel, though they’re still very nice about it, since they do teach kindergarten. To [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f], they’d go as far as saying that if you respect your children, you wouldn’t even raise them in a hateful place. [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] likes the environment more in the school however, now with their new bonding friend [name_f]Genie[/name_f] having a place on the school board to make it better. Another great friend of Chiyuki’s is Detta’s wife, whom they bond over music together. And yes, [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] was the one who got Detta and her now-wife together! She’s really supportive with both and she’s glad [name_m]Austen[/name_m] found their own path to being on such good terms with Detta as well. [name_f]Chiyuki[/name_f] still listens to that music all the years later, and while she’s closest with the old material, she’s head-over-heels by the new album just released.
