Kane Stellan Heng-McClure (24) is Ellie’s boyfriend, currently working for a tech company. He’s related to bonds despite age gaps, especially with his sister who is 5 years younger than him although he could never imagine his sister living Josie’s life despite her love for babies. He’s an older brother of Cherry but not the eldest. Kane has heard a bit about Josie from Ellie and wishes the Minnie/Cici/Josie friendship could reform again but knows it’s not his place. Kane can’t help but want to adopt or foster the baby of Josie and her fiancé. He’s a bit worried about how Josie’s fiancé would play as a father: either Josie’s fiancé would be all over having the baby for himself or he’d be the type to never want to raise the baby, Kane doesn’t know which type he is. Although Kane doesn’t want to jump to conclusions, Josie’s fiancé may be a good guy after all who simply doesn’t have the preparation of growing up so fast, much like Josie feels. But if that’s the case, why did he propose to her?
Josie and Ellie have been great people and he is grateful to have Ellie as a girlfriend. He and Ellie love to enjoy the outdoors and they’ve just had a glamping trip, basically luxury camping. While he doesn’t want to pry into Josie’s personal life, he can see himself being friends with her, after all he does have potential to be her friend and he isn’t friends with her fiancé. For a long time Kane’s been pro-adoption ever since he grew up but he can’t help but be upset when he realised he couldn’t biologically father children of his own. He liked adoption as a choice, not as an “only option”. He’s gotten more open again thanks to his belief on fulfilling lifelong dreams alongside the fact of how much unadopted children need a home and family. He and Eloise’s cat Nellie is also adopted, she was from a rescue animal shelter.
