[name_u]Andrea[/name_u] Yellowbird (35) runs the shelter where [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] adopted her cat, Sherbert. She is a member of the Atikamekw community of the [name_u]Cree[/name_u] First Nations but she moved to the UK when she was teen when her mom remarried. She developed a love of animals when she volunteered at a shelter after school and soon was rescuing all sort of animals in her neighborhood. Connecting with her heritage is also important to her so she is part of several online groups to develop her language skills beyond the basics she learned from her mom. She has visited [name_f]Canada[/name_f] several times and has been considering applying for a position at a National animal rescue organization there but it would mean moving away from her mother and stepfather with whom she is close.
