Maturity warning (kind of): drugs, sex
Cyrus Rafferty Temple (50) is Collin’s dad. He and Bo grew up with the same taste in movies, and they were banned from quoting them at the dinner table because they used to do it all the time, more than they held regular conversations. Now, he watches his older sons quote things with each other, and it warms his heart. It makes him sad to see Collin try and fail to connect with them on that level, so Cyrus does everything he can to support Collin in his interests. He’s there at every basketball game, he listens to Collin talk for hours about his favorite players and the coolest moves, and he hosts parties and hang-outs for the team so that they always feel like they have a home where they can unwind and be themselves. He knows some of the kids are experimenting with substances and romantic partners, and he has an unconventional belief that teens are going to do what they want to do, and they might as well get a safe space to do it with someone responsible and non-judgemental close by. Plus, he has the training and tools to help with addiction and overdose because of his job, so if anything happens, he is literally the safest person for kids to be around.
Speaking of romantic partners, Cyrus has noticed Collin’s crush on a certain girl, and he’s trying to figure out how to talk to him about it. Normally, Cyrus feels pretty confident in how to address vulnerable or awkward topics, or at least how to create an environment where kids feel comfortable approaching him about it, but this situation is a little more complicated…
