A passionate and driven young woman, she’s currently a medical student and hopes to one day become a cardiologist. [name_f]Laci[/name_f] shares her girlfriend’s love of tennis and they actually met through the sport, although she also enjoys collecting unusual flavors of tea and loves nothing more than relaxing in their apartment with a good book, spoiling [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] with belly rubs. When she isn’t dog walking or practicing sport, [name_f]Laci[/name_f] can be found with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and their large friend circle, being an outgoing young woman in spite of how laidback she is otherwise.

Meili [name_m]Chang[/name_m] (14) is one of [name_f]Laci[/name_f]’s younger sisters. Like [name_f]Laci[/name_f] she loves to sing and is a gifted violinist. She is unsure of what she wants to do in the future, but she loves to visit [name_f]Laci[/name_f] in [name_m]Portland[/name_m] especially to see [name_m]Rufus[/name_m].
[name_f]Michelle[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] (16) is Meili’s best friend. She loves dancing and gymnastics, along with her younger sister.
Qiaolian ‘[name_f]Pru[/name_f]’ [name_m]Chang[/name_m] (17) is a fellow gymnast who attends classes with [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] and the middle [name_m]Chang[/name_m] sister. Headstrong and opinionated, [name_f]Pru[/name_f] is co-captain of the school’s debate team, being incredibly driven, yet she’s very encouraging of her teammates. [name_f]Music[/name_f] has never been her passion, with print making being the art [name_f]Pru[/name_f]’s drawn towards, and [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] regularly features in the art she makes; alongside her best friend’s pet cat, Blueberry.
Pru hopes to study fine art or graphic design - still being caught between the two - and regularly engages in questioning herself about which one she truly wishes to pursue. She’s been with her boyfriend for just over a year now, and when she isn’t visiting [name_f]Laci[/name_f], [name_f]Pru[/name_f]’s hanging out with her friends.

An aspiring tattoo artist, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]’s set on getting an apprenticeship following graduation, instead of attending university. A member of the school’s art society, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] isn’t as outgoing as [name_f]Pru[/name_f], but is dedicated to the group and is always willing to help new members. She has two tattoos of her own, flowers on her shoulder and one of Blueberry on her wrist, with her cat having been adopted from a rescue shelter when [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] was eleven.
She lives with her two dad’s and younger sister, helping at her parents’ small cafe on weekends when not hanging out with her friends of visiting the skate park, being an avid skateboarder.

A straight-A student, [name_f]Cori[/name_f] is very studious and quiet, although her friends know she has a quick wit and can be very sarcastic. She dreams of becoming a veterinarian and often volunteers at the local animal shelter. She is also very into skincare and self-care, so she started a self care club at her school to help people relax and love themselves.
This is [name_f]Cori[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]’s Dad, since they have 2 dads they call one Dad and the other Father. His name is [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Marc[/name_m] and works at their self owned cafe. Despite being bullied his whole life for his sexual orientation he studied hard at school and is now a successful 46 year old man. He enjoys playing chess and babysitting his neighbours’ children.
Sidney ‘[name_u]Sid[/name_u]’ [name_u]James[/name_u] Ritchinson (45) is [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]’s husband and the father of [name_f]Cori[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. [name_u]Sid[/name_u] can be a little protective of his family thanks to the hardships experienced by his husband and daughter’s, but most importantly he supports them in achieving their goals and dreams. He met [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] through their mutual love of chess and primarily deals with the marketing of the family business, ensuring they’re well-known and frequented. Sometimes he accompanies [name_f]Cori[/name_f] at the animal shelter and like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], adores Blueberry the cat.
Sid’s a twin and shares a close bond with his sister still, employing his niece at the cafe and the family gather whenever possible.
Nina [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] Wickford (17) is [name_u]Sid[/name_u]’s niece, who’s also the best friend of her cousin [name_f]Cori[/name_f]. [name_f]Nina[/name_f] attends an all girl school, having gotten in on a scholarship, where she’s part of the hockey team and is particularly interested in biology, hoping to study it at university. She joins [name_f]Cori[/name_f] at the animal shelter and particularly loves the smaller animals, having been inspired to adopt a pair of rescue rabbits - [name_f]Silk[/name_f] & [name_f]Velvet[/name_f] - recently; posting numerous photos of them on her Insta.
At school, [name_f]Nina[/name_f] met her girlfriend and small, tight-knit circle of friends, who enjoy going thrifting together and collecting beanie babies. She’s the middle of three children and typically is the most level-headed one of the bunch, although more than a little sarcastic.

She has yet to come out to her family [they think she and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] are just best friends] because she’s worried about how they’ll react. Both of her parents are quite wealthy and work high powered jobs, so she and her younger brother are often home alone and are quite close because of it. In her spare time, she enjoys playing basketball on her school’s team and reading YA fiction. She has a [name_u]French[/name_u] Bulldog puppy named [name_u]Frankie[/name_u].
Sutton [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_u]Wiley[/name_u] (16) is [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]’s younger brother and the one member of the family who she’s considering telling the truth about her relationship with [name_f]Nina[/name_f] to. [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]’s very unphased by academics and definitely prefers humanities: being keen about history, with a growing interest in philosophy too - things that contradict his image as a chilled out skater with few worries. Otherwise at school (a mixed gender private, as the closest all boys school was over an hour’s drive away), he’s popular and very much the social butterfly.
Having dated around a fair bit in his first year of high school, [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] is now in a committed relationship with a girl he cares deeply about (although expressing this isn’t something he’s perfect at). He also works at a clothing shop on weekends, wanting to get some financial independence from his parents.

[name_f]Lili[/name_f] tends to feel uncertain about her identity and compares herself unfavourably to her older sister sometimes. She enjoys reading and, when not helping out with her siblings and around the house, [name_f]Lili[/name_f]'s writing poems or short stories; which she’s highly secretive about, not yet being confident in her abilities.
[name_f]Lili[/name_f]'s best friends with an only child and spends time at her house often, acting as a surrogate sister figure, while seeking out some much wanted privacy and space. She longs for a pet of some sort - with a rabbit being her ideal choice - and intends on getting one once she leaves for university, showing a somewhat rebellious streak in this sense.

As an only child of relatively wealthy bohemian parents, [name_u]Jessie[/name_u] has been allowed to explore any of her interests with pretty reckless abandon. She has tried out dozens of hobbies, but her favorite things to do are rock climbing and snowboarding.

Kirby Rhiannon Dougal is Jessie’s mother. She is a successful Americana style record producer along with her husband Grant Dougal. She prides herself on her down to Earth mentality and recognizes her affluence as a way to help others.
Kirby and her husband founded a foundation that allows children in urban areas an opportunity to go to summer camp in the country and expose them to fishing, camping, wildlife, etc. Kirby loved metal working as a kid and continues the hobby making jewelry for friends. It brings her back to her childhood in a small Appalachian Mountain town where her father ran a junkyard.
Bethan ‘[name_f]Beth[/name_f]’ Xiulan Pharring (41) is [name_u]Kirby[/name_u]’s best friend and considered an aunt by [name_u]Jessie[/name_u]. [name_f]Beth[/name_f]’s a psychotherapist who met [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] while attending university, having grown up in a large city, where her quiet nature meant she wasn’t noticed much during school - something that impacted on [name_f]Beth[/name_f]’s confidence until she was in her late teens, which influenced her desire to help others’. Outside of her work, she enjoys sewing and crochet, as well as competing in triathlons.
Beth always wears a bracelet made by [name_u]Kirby[/name_u], alongside having a small tattoo which was designed by her partner. She has two children of her own - an adopted daughter who’s preparing for university, and a six-year-old - whom she absolutely adores.

[name_m]Kiko[/name_m] was born in Ashoro and adopted by the Pharring’s when she was nine, keeping her birth name, although she chose [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] as her middle name when she was twelve. She chose to defer for a year after graduating high school - wanting to get work experience and take more time to decide on which university to attend - during which she spent time working on her textiles projects; that being the subject she intends on studying.
[name_m]Kiko[/name_m] shares a very close relationship with [name_f]Beth[/name_f] in particular, and owns multiple hats knitted by her which are worn with pride. Away from her love of fashion - including constructing clothing, some of which she sells online - [name_m]Kiko[/name_m] enjoys hiking, climbing, visiting her friends (some of whom are attending university in towns and cities nearby) and playing with her cat, a tabby named [name_f]Tawny[/name_f].
Tessa Rao (23) is a friend of Kiko. She is from New Zealand, but lives in Los Angeles. She is an actress and singer, and is a mommy to a child.
