Travis Leaf Demarest (43) is the husband of Ruby’s aunt. He is the second-youngest of four siblings and his older sister and the oldest overall is 50-year-old Lori Daisy Demarest, who runs the Demarest farm which was passed down to her by their retired parents. He doesn’t mind that she has the main farm since she’s very smart and responsible and the farm is thriving because of her. Travis and his wife are more of the “ranch type” of people and they love their horses more than anything, opting not to have children because the horses “are their children”. Sometimes on the ranch, the family has get-togethers and parties and Ruby loves to liven them up with dancing.

Edit: Just realised I mistook his bio for another character bio in my drafts, fixing the error.

Kirk Basil Demarest (49) is Belle’s brother-in-law, Lori and Travis’s brother, Jasper and Isla’s father, and Mandy’s grandfather. He and his wife own the organic food store. His older son Jasper is now 24 and is engaged to a woman named Kiera, soon to be married and they have a 3-year-old daughter Mandy and another expectant child. His younger daughter is 22-year-old Isla who lives with her girlfriend. Unlike the farm or ranch, Kirk is more of a mountain lover and loves to climb mountains and explore. He still enjoys the rustic lifestyle and he was more than grateful when Belle redid his home, making a good juxtaposition of modern and rustic appeal.

[name_u]Stacey[/name_u] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [Fowler] Demarest (47) is Kirk’s wife, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and Isla’s father and Mandy’s grandmother. Somewhat ironically, Stacey’s from a farming background, having met her husband due to their families coming to exist in similar circles over time; being the older of two children, having chosen to let her younger brother take over the family business thanks to her disinterest in management - her real passion being working with animals, something that developed when she was a young girl always found at the side of the family pets. Stacey’s own mother worked as a vet who specialises in farm animals and is staunchly supportive of good care for them, giving her siblings advice on those she considers unrepeatable given how they treat the creatures in their care. [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] absolutely loves this about her great-granny and is forever asking for stories which Stacey’s more than happy to provide. Once her granddaughter’s a little older, she intends on taking her to meet the newborns her own mother worked with, but feels Mandy’s a little too excitable right now to not stress them out: so instead she’s made her a scrapbook depicting these encounters and adventures, which is proving to be the perfect substitute.
Although some people consider [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] somewhat frivolous and over emotional - as she cries if an animal has to be put down - her strong empathy means she’s excellent at her job and shares close bonds with her children. Against the stereotype, [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] loves her daughter-in-law and greatly supports her relationship with [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], feeling what’s most important is encouraging her son to find his own happiness; not passing any judgment about him having his first child young. She’s been helping [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] set up the nursery for her expected grandson, although it doesn’t amuse her hearing her brother’s continuous jokes about four leaf clovers and Irish pride - although it’s all very good natured, and [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] jokes about her serious side coming out given she’s the older sibling in the pair. Going for long mountain walks with her husband is something [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] absolutely loves, finding peace in nature and seeing [name_m]Kirk[/name_m] so happy always cheers her as she doesn’t want him to feel pressured into assimilating her cultural background of farming - although she’s got herself quite the vegetable garden.

Kiera Una O’Malley (24) is Stacey’s soon-to-be daughter-in-law. She is Bitsy Walden’s niece and the older cousin of Dara, Cal, and Beth O’Connor. She has light red hair, which Bitsy loves about her and Kiera loves Bitsy’s fun-loving energy. While two of the O’Connor sisters are juveniles and the only adult is one who prefers a single and child-free life, they’re all super excited to see Kiera get married to Jasper. While Kiera knows Bitsy isn’t married, she doesn’t care if Kiera gets married before she finds love because supporting and rooting for her family is what Bitsy loves best. Kiera’s family is all from Irish or British descent but her parents are the most heavily active in their Irish heritage and are happy Kiera is bringing that to her children. She is also happy with meeting Stacey’s younger brother and knowing more about the new side of the family she is going to integrate with.

Malibu and Kiera are like chalk and cheese. Sometimes Kiera jokingly calls them the beauty and the beast but Malibu never notices any of her insecurities because ever since Malibu realised she was bisexual, she has had the tiniest crush on Kiera but it disappeared when she got engaged and Malibu got a girlfriend which was only a year ago. Malibu gets along with Kiera’s fiance but she doesn’t like him that much and it will take a lot of getting used too.

tw: mentions of a stroke
Maisy Vivianne DeLory (22) is Mal’s girlfriend and fellow wedding guest, who works as a personal trainer and semi-competitive triathlete, although she stepped back from going too hard on her training after her dad suffered a stroke that left him wheelchair bound and she didn’t want to be traveling too far from her parents in case they required her support. Maisy’s the middle of three siblings and met Mal thanks to her older brother being good friends with her sister, who actually was a guest at his wedding to his now-husband. She doesn’t always appreciate his meddling in her life - as he insisted on looking out for her at high school, even when Maisy was determined to stand up for herself solo - but admits he made a good call this time.
Headstrong, fiercely independent and outspoken, Maisy’s a queer activist who openly confronts the erasure of gay women and is very supportive of others’ - including her uncle, who only came out as trans a couple years ago after years of hiding his dysphoria. Maisy’s aware of Mal’s former crush on Kiera but never felt intimidated by this as she’s someone who believes if you’re meant to be together, it’ll work out, and jealousy isn’t something to hold back a relationship strong like their’s. What she does hope is that Jasper and Mal’s relationship will improve, as she doesn’t want to find herself and Kiera in the middle of any awkwardness or tension, given she knows she won’t hold back to defend her girlfriend.

Troy Foster DeLory (16) is Maisy’s younger brother and youngest of the three. Like Maisy, he also wants Jasper and Mal’s relationship to improve. He doesn’t like to show his emotions but his dad’s stroke has made him very uncomfortable and uncertain in life. Unlike their older brother, Troy doesn’t get involved in other people’s lives and sometimes the family says he’s barely involved in his own life. Troy has done his best carrying on but after so much worry going on for him, he did something he highly regrets. He is unpopular in high school due to walking out of the Design Club without explaining, leaving President Rishi without a Vice President since he was the Vice President at the time. Rishi had planned to ask his sister Maisy if she could be VP but realised Maisy wasn’t a high school student anymore and couldn’t take the position. Rishi has asked a few others but was turned down for various reasons, although these reasons were justified. Rishi has been doing the Vice Presidential duties herself until she can find a VP. Troy felt bad that he had left the club like that and told Rishi the truth. Rishi understood but knew that she didn’t want Troy back as VP and Troy didn’t want to take back the position, so the club remains without a Vice President. Troy’s older brother tells him that he should have talked to him first before leaving Design Club and Troy knows his brother is right. Troy is close with his uncle and the LGBTQUIAP+ community and has came out of the closet as bisexual but hasn’t come out to his school because he fears they will assume he’s just saying it so people stop bagging on him.

Update: York is their cousin and son of their uncle. The original bio was made before Ellie’s edit.
York Darius DeLory (26) is the oldest DeLory cousin and son of their transgender uncle. York thinks Ellie could be in the community in some way but won’t bring it up unless she does so first. His dad was the same way and he picked up from this, knowing his dad was proudly transgender but was still a person outside his gender and still had conversations about other topics despite gender. York takes on a leading role within the cousins like Ellie but is learning to listen to them as well and see them as people with real voices. He hopes Troy can get through the predicament he had gotten himself into and has tried to stop blaming him and instead being more empathetic. York’s empathy was inspired by his husband, who is the brother of Ellie’s non-binary roommate. York and Mal are still close and he and his husband are close with her family.

Maturity warning: Underage drinking and jail time, but no injuries or deaths.
[name_m]Gerald[/name_m] [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] (22, left) is Dave’s brother and Maisy’s friend/classmate. [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] is a tech fan but is a theatre geek and loves acting and improv. He also enjoys classic theatre and did plays for most of his life. He is bisexual but has found many straight people in theatre and knows it’s not “a gay activity”. Still he feels “a theatre without gays” takes away the fun and he’s just as much friends with the gay theatre buddies as the straight ones. Their parents are divorced and live in different houses on different cities but both he and [name_m]Dave[/name_m] were legal adults and moved out for college at the time of the divorce, but they had a teenage brother who was still a juvenile at the time and still is. Their brother was involved in a family controversy which as [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] says, “left a plague on both their houses”.
Six months earlier [name_m]Dave[/name_m] and Gerald’s younger 17-year-old brother hosted a high school party at his mother’s house. He told his mother that he and 2 friends were just having a small gathering at her house for the evening to celebrate his acceptance into a college he dreamed of. His mother trusted him and the friends he was inviting over, as she liked his friends and found them to be great buddies with her son. What she didn’t know was that her son had invited much more than those two friends and that it was going to be a mega hit party. After his mother went to bed, the other guests the boy invited came in and they all partied hard. Some of these new guests brought alcohol and the teens didn’t hesitate to take shots. They also played beer pong and other drinking games. A neighbor overheard the big party and called the police. When the cops came, they escorted everyone out of the party. The mother woke up and went over to the party and yelled at her son for being dishonest to her, demanding what was going on. The cops told her that about 30 people were at the house and alcohol was being served even though everyone was underage. They then asked her if she owned the house which she said yes. To her surprise, the police handcuffed her for supplying alcohol to underage drinkers since it was at her house, even though she didn’t know about the party and didn’t give them alcohol. Her son tried to tell the police that she never knew about the party and it wasn’t her fault, but the police still took her away to jail. In the aftermath, the boy now lives with just his father who resents him and tells him every day all the terrible things that the alcohol could have done to him or other guests. He also tells the boy how doing stuff like this also affects parents, as seen by what happened to his mother. [name_m]Dave[/name_m] and [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] have also called their brother “selfish” and says he is lucky he isn’t an adult or he would have faced the consequences of his actions rather than the law forcing it on their mother. What the older brothers don’t know is that their brother didn’t supply the alcohol, since some guests at his party brought it in. However these guests weren’t any of the people his mother knew were coming nor did their brother do enough to stop these guests so they likely wouldn’t have accepted the excuse. Some of Gerald’s theatre buddies don’t really like him as much for his reckless younger brother but most of them still treat [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] the same. [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] and [name_m]Dave[/name_m] know if their brother’s party caused anyone serious harm that the reaction would be much different. Neither of them are reckless and both are nice men who look serious on the outside, making them less of a target for gossip. [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] is happy for Dave’s success and the two of them may one day forgive their brother but are resenting him for now over what he did to his mother, even if he didn’t want it to happen to her. Both of them ask their brother why he couldn’t just have the small gathering he promised his mother he would have. Their mother will be released in a few months and their father has punished him by not paying for the tuition for the college he was excited to attend.

[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] (50) is the twins’ father and legal guardian of their younger brother following his ex-wife’s imprisonment. In spite of the divorce - which wasn’t entirely clean and simple due to [name_m]Victor[/name_m] struggling with his then-wife becoming disenfranchised and emotionally withdrawn in the marriage - he has a lot of unhappiness given her predicament, feeling the investigation was unfairly biased against her and could have been influenced by some of his youngest son’s friends having influential parents who wouldn’t want their kids taking the share of the blame.
Victor’s encouraged [name_m]Gerald[/name_m] and [name_m]Dave[/name_m] to maintain contact with their mother during these difficult times, and while they once might’ve believed this was due to him having feelings for her still, this is no longer the case as Victor’s been in a relationship for the past 2 years with the vet who treated the family’s older dog, [name_m]Frodo[/name_m] - a [name_u]Jack[/name_u] [name_m]Russell[/name_m] named for his stature - and loves her dearly. He knows he’s harsh on their brother but feels he needs to understand consequences, as [name_m]Victor[/name_m] doesn’t want his son to grow up into someone who doesn’t care about the impact of his behaviour and allows others to suffer because of this.
Working as a physiotherapist, [name_m]Victor[/name_m] has personally witnessed how people obtain injuries or suffer due to the actions of others’ who don’t accept responsibility, and this prompted his reaction to his ex-wife’s predicament. Sometimes he wonders if he came down too harsh on his son and doesn’t want to see things fall apart between them, so [name_m]Victor[/name_m] has ensured he’s stepped back from the lectures and instead is working on helping him apply for a new school where he won’t be wrapped up in the ongoing social politics of the situation. In particular he doesn’t want his son having to endure any snideness from those who supplied the alcohol, who’ve effectively seen no consequences.

Nicole Evenne Flannigan (née Bordeaux) (48) is the best friend of Victor and sister of Victor’s girlfriend, the vet. She is in the Flannigan family as the mother of Ozzy, Eliana, and Kira and is married to Kent. She speaks both English and French and has taught her husband how to speak it as well. She is a very nice person who has tried to make the best of her situations after losing her 74-year-old father-in-law Walter to cancer and then losing her 18-year-old son Ozzy two years after to Angelyn‘s fatal hit-and-run. Nicole knows Ozzy didn’t cross the street illegally and raised her kids to be smart and can’t fathom how somebody could just run him over in the road and leave him for dead. She hopes Kira grows up with a passion she loves and supports Ozzy’s love for ocean life and Eliana’s role in the LGBTQIA+ community and promotes them both, She and her husband are very close and often entertain each other.
She is a proud supporter of her sister as a vet and takes their retired guide dog Jazzy to her care whenever he needs it. Nicole has always wanted a family pet having grown up without pets due to her parent’s allergies and being low-key jealous that her sister has a job working with pets all day. However Nicole and her sister are very close and she knows her sister‘s job isn’t always easy and Nicole herself doesn’t think she could handle seeing pets in terrible health. On her stance with Victor’s youngest son, she believes Victor and his ex-wife also raised their children to be smart and that their teenage son was peer-pressured. She agrees that the parents of the teenagers who brought the alcohol should have came forward and that they are dodging responsibility. However she doesn’t talk too deeply into this because it gives her reminders of Angelyn killing her son and not going to prison until 4 years later. Since Angelyn wasn’t caught at the fatal accident, her BAC was never recorded at the time so there was no proof whether she had alcohol in her system even though she was confirmed to be texting. Nicole believes Angelyn may have had traces of alcohol since she was partying the weekend before, even though the accident was the following Monday. She thinks the 30 people partying at Victor’s ex-wife’s house are insanely lucky not to have harmed anyone and hates rowdy high school and college parties, thinking partiers who drink are “partying now, throwing their futures away later”. For that reason, Nicole tends to not get too deeply into the matters not just for her but also to Victor’s family because she is against spreading her own bias on other people. However she is open to looking for evidence to convict the other parents involved in the alcohol supplying teens who have stayed back from responsibilities while Victor’s ex-wife has taken the blame. Nicole supports her sister’s relationship with Victor and believes he is right for her. Nicole also supports Victor and believes he is a clever individual and is very thoughtful. She admires Victor’s ways of getting people to accept responsibility for their actions and believes everyone should acknowledge themselves. While Nicole can be biased, she truly supports Victor’s teenage son and believes he has potential to change his life around. She knows he tried to tell the police that day that his mother didn’t know about the party and that he would always feel terrible about getting his mother in jail and how that affects his relationship with his older brothers. Nicole is hoping Victor and her sister stay together and maintain their relationship despite the family drama, but keeps out as it is ultimately their relationship.

[name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] Forwell (22) is the daughter of Victor’s girlfriend and Nicole’s niece, being the only child born to her sister. In the midst of preparing to apply for a bachelor’s degree in criminal law, Sara’s genderfluid and uses she/they pronouns, more commonly she/her, but let’s others know when they/them is preferable, and is particularly close to her cousin [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] on account of this. She’s always been a high achiever who set ambitious goals and targets for herself, something arguably inherited from both of her parents - her dad’s the head accountant for a very successful business - but attributes her empathy to her mother, and shares her love of animals. Sara’s the proud owner of two rescue cats: Shiba, a Sphinx, and [name_f]Monet[/name_f], who’s a one-eyed black cat she affectionately calls a good luck charm; who share the house with her and her mom - as she can’t afford to live away from home right now while pursuing her education, something Sara’s used to be embarrassed by until her mother reassured her.
The relationship between [name_f]Sara[/name_f] and her father has always been more complicated. While she knows he loves her and they have lots of interesting discussions as well as common love for horror films and swimming; he’s never been particularly warm or encouraging, unintentionally often seeming disinterested in her accomplishments. She knows this comes from his own hectic job and generally reserved nature, having never been that affectionate with anyone, but it still stings how he has little time and is often preoccupied by other things. This is why [name_f]Sara[/name_f] doesn’t see much of him, as she knows it’s usually encompassed by his time being sparse and his reception never the most welcoming - although she sometimes feels guilty for complaining about this when she hears about her friends lives.
When she learned about Victor’s ex-wife and the infamous party, [name_f]Sara[/name_f] was pretty shocked as she’d never encountered something like this before. She tries to not get involved in the politics of his family, as while he and her mom have been together for two years and are clearly happy, [name_f]Sara[/name_f] hasn’t gotten to know his son’s that well as she’s been very busy with university. Meeting and spending time with them actually intimidates her, as she’s the definitive outsider and has no siblings to talk to about her perspective on things, feeling a little uncertain how she’ll feel once they’re properly spending time together as a family. In particular, she wonders about Victor’s youngest son, as the actions of his friends tie implicitly to the career she’s pursuing and she knows this might be a sore spot for him - especially if he assumes she thinks poorly of him or his mom (not exactly inconceivable given the stepsister aspect and Sara’s mother being someone she loves and respects dearly).

She wants Victor’s youngest son to be successful one day like her daughter but knows his life won’t be the same. Like [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], she believes Victor’s youngest son was extremely lucky not to have a worse outcome. However [name_u]Jeanne[/name_u] doesn’t get too involved in the life of the youngest son, instead focusing on [name_m]Victor[/name_m] himself and how much of an amazing father he is. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Aura[/name_f] ’ [name_u]Dove[/name_u] Newliss (24) is someone [name_u]Jeanne[/name_u] only met recently, as she’s only just officially met [name_m]Victor[/name_m], and is the girlfriend of his son [name_m]Dave[/name_m]. The two met when [name_f]Aura[/name_f] was hired by the tech company to help with a new marketing campaign, being the main graphic designer of a small team that does freelance work, and she was tasked with speaking to employees - including [name_u]York[/name_u] DeLory - about their goals and objectives, to figure out how to incorporate this into her artistry. [name_f]Aura[/name_f] was actually closer with [name_u]York[/name_u] first as she’s a trans woman and upon hearing of his father, found someone who understood her well, although there were no romantic feelings between the pair (which [name_u]York[/name_u] and Dave’s boss was secretly very relieved about).
Expressing her gender wasn’t easy in Aura’s family, as she’s the granddaughter of a popular charismatic preacher, and (pardon the pun) all Hell broke loose when she decided to openly transition after years of debating what to do. The reaction of her grandfather was expected but painful in spite of this. He refused to accept [name_f]Aura[/name_f] for who she is - repeatedly using her deadname just to incite a reaction - and went as far as to blame her mother (his daughter) for ‘failing’ her daughter by supporting Aura’s transition. Ultimately, [name_f]Aura[/name_f] and her family - parents and younger sister - have left the church community and only a few people remained contact, with many of them having left themselves or been excommunicated.
This has led to [name_f]Aura[/name_f] being quite averse to Christianity and she prefers her own form of spiritualism opposed to committing to anything. As religion played such a huge role in her upbringing, she knows it’s not something to just vanish from her identity, but can’t look at the one she was raised in the same way given how her grandfather attempted to use it to justify his awful behaviour. Something only her closest friends, as well as [name_m]Dave[/name_m] and [name_u]York[/name_u], know right now is another one of Aura’s cousins has realised he’s queer and she’s trying to help him move out to come stay with her, as they both know coming out will end in disaster; as his father’s way less willing to listen, empathise, and side with his children than Aura’s mom.

Evelyn Nora Steed “Evie” (14) lived in the same neighborhood and went to the same church as Aura growing up. She was raised to believe Aura’s grandfather’s pastoral teachings without question, but the more people she met/heard about who were LGBTQ+, the more she looked into and realized she didn’t think any of it was wrong. In fact, she resonated with them. On her 13th birthday, she came out as gay, and a few months later, she began dating her girlfriend. They kept it on the down low at first, but this year, they don’t care what any close-minded people say in this town. They’re going to their first dance together, and they’re going to rock it.

Kiera isn’t a bad person and Síomha doesn’t hate her, she just envies that’s the family attention is always on her. Kiera is a decade older than Síomha, has a daughter and a baby on the way, and is engaged to be married to Jasper. Síomha wishes she could have more attention on she and her girlfriend attending the dance as dates but feel her news will never live up to Kiera’s news. Her parents are very focused on Kiera’s wedding planning so Síomha is closer with her cousins, specifically Beth, since they are the same age, even though Beth is straight. Deep down, Síomha would love to rock this town and paint it rainbow with Evie no matter what people say — she knows she won’t be overshadowed this time.
