[name_f]Liv[/name_f] was really scared to come out so she started going to the lgbtq meetings and started secretly dating a [name_u]River[/name_u], a femme leaning non-binary teen… [name_f]Liv[/name_f] told her best friend, a blabbermouth, and her whole friend circle knows and most, bar a few, were really supportive of [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and she made a bold descision of dying her hair last year and most people know she is pansexual.

[name_f]Jacintha[/name_f] ’ [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] ’ [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] Robinson-Asante (39, the woman behind [name_f]Liv[/name_f] in the photo) is Liv’s mother. She is asexual and a single mother, having conceived [name_f]Liv[/name_f] through IVF. People often assume she is married due to her hyphenated last name but this combined surname was from Jacie’s parents choosing to hyphenate their surnames and pass it down to her. [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] personally likes it this way because it shows her parents’ love for each other and it makes people ask her less often why she is a single mother. She has always been in support of [name_f]Liv[/name_f] both before and after she came out and has reassured [name_f]Liv[/name_f] that “her daughter is her daughter” and Jacie’s parents have been in support of her as well.
What made [name_f]Liv[/name_f] so hesitant to come out was because [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] worked at a very conservative boutique. It wasn’t openly saying that it was conservative, but the way the employees dressed and spoke gave off that vibe. [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] liked it for its vintage appeal but after knowing her co-workers had outdated bigoted views, she quit on the spot. [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] now works for a boutique with pro-LGBTQ+ views and they have their pride merchandise year-round. [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] wanted to get closer with her daughter [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and supported her through the distrust [name_f]Liv[/name_f] had in her friend inadvertently outing her. She has also done her hair rainbow to match her daughter and support her. She doesn’t get involved in her daughter’s love life but is good friends with River’s mother and would approve the relationship as she would be happy to see them date.

[name_f]Tanith[/name_f] [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] Penhelm (17) is Jacie’s niece and Liv’s cousin, born to the older daughter of the Robinson-Asante’s and her husband, who grew up in the UK: [name_u]Bristol[/name_u] to be exact. The Penhelm’s live the next town over from [name_u]Jacie[/name_u] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f], due to it being bigger in size and ideal for the community centre Tanith’s parents run, but there’s a lot of social overlap between the high schoolers, so she knows a lot about those [name_f]Liv[/name_f] sometimes interacts with. Tanith’s very accomplished at knitting and crochet, which is how she makes extra money, selling bonets, vests, bralette’s and other items on Etsy and Depop which fund her attendance of concerts, kilo sales and theme parks - not because her parents asked but because independence is something she’s determined to maintain. She’s a very organised person with a powerful stubborn streak, very much being the leader of her friend group, but this strength also filters into her loyalty and compassion - being very caring when it comes to her loved one’s (even her twelve-year-old brother who annoys her, sometimes deliberately, to no end). Her best friend jokes if the area was big enough for an official [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] would be a formidable contender.
It’s [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] who was the wariest about [name_f]Liv[/name_f] dating, as her cousin is the little sister she never got, and her concern is more about [name_f]Liv[/name_f] getting hurt by the disappointment if things don’t work out. [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] actually knows River’s older sibling - who’s also non-binary - somewhat due to them both attending the same live music events, but has no particular opinion of them either way…although they do have the reputation of a player if the gossip line can be trusted. Dating’s really not something Tanith’s interested in currently, due to balancing her business with studies and socialising, but she knows a few people consider her cute and if she developed a connection with one of them she knows something could happen… [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] knows she’s pan-demisexual, and has only had one major relationship that ended in an upsetting manner, when her ex-boyfriend told her she was too absorbed in her own world - not appreciating how much of her time he demanded, which had begun to eat away at Tanith’s time with her family and friends. Subsequently she’s firm about how much she gives now and digs her heels in the second someone asks for too much.

[name_m]Helios[/name_m] [name_m]Janus[/name_m] Penhelm (12) is Tanith’s younger brother. When he was 5 and scratched up his knees falling down, he immediately got up and dealt with it and kept playing. And since that day, his family knew he was going to grow up mighty. He loves reptiles and always wanted a snake, but his family doesn’t allow it so he says he’ll do it “the moment he’s an adult”. Unlike his cousin [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_m]Helios[/name_m] can be loud and rowdy, so he’s not necessarily the type for [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] to talk to about serious dilemmas. [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] gets along with him for the most part and knitted him a scarf that resembles a snake, which he wears all winter. Despite being borderline obnoxious, he has a way with class and will wear nice clothes to special occasions, provided he wears them in colour as black suits are not his thing. [name_m]Helios[/name_m] doesn’t need anyone to date but doesn’t care if people at his school are dating although [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] reassures him that he’s best off single and most of the other students at his school are too young and immature for dating. He knows [name_u]River[/name_u] and their family and a few of the people [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] is close to and supports them. [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] keeps her and Liv’s personal life away from [name_m]Helios[/name_m] because she believes he will blab on about the couples - and he would’ve because he can’t help it.

[name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] Penhelm (11) is [name_m]Helios[/name_m] and Tanith’s younger sister. She lives up to her namesake, [name_f]Athena[/name_f], and is considered a know-it-all by most people. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her, and will go out of her way to annoy most people, especially [name_m]Helios[/name_m]. She shares her love of reptiles, and was actually the one that wanted a snake first, but now she wants a frog. Her current side hobby is archery, and she isn’t too bad, but she loves karate. Whenever she has a question about anything, she is more likely to go to one of her Sensei’s. She loves being the youngest in the family, but sometimes wishes she had a younger sibling. [name_m]Helios[/name_m] and her have a running argument, that has been going for years. When they were little, they were extremely close, but now they just want to annoy each other all day long.

Margaret Anne Maggie Thompson (11) is in Athena’s karate class. She doesn’t like in but her mother thinks it’s important for girl’s to learn to defend themselves especially seeing as how she grew up In a family of four brothers, all of whom were dirty-minded & made her do things.
She is an only child & that was a conscious decision on her parents part. She also takes ballet (which she loves), gymnastics (which she’s good at), & tai kwon do (which she doesn’t mind as much as karate). Her other hobbies include nature walks, taking care of her pets (a cat, two dogs, a ferret, & six fish), & reading. She doesn’t go to Athena’s school but she’s one of the smartest at her school, being in AIG for most of elementary & her first year of middle (now). She is very close with her father but also gets along with her mother. She loves her paternal grandparents, aunties, & uncle. She also has contact with her maternal grandmother (who tried to stop it), her maternal aunts, & two maternal uncles (who didn’t participate).
PS. She has six maternal uncles, the two aren’t the ones who did that to her mother.

Adam Charles Thompson (39) is Maggie’s father. He is one of the Sensei’s that teach Maggie and Athena, and part of the reason Maggie is learning martial arts. He is a stay-at-home dad, and
the most important thing in the world for him is his family. His hobby is teaching himself biology online, and is considering starting university when Maggie is a little older. He has also grown up in a large family, being the youngest of ten. Every year, he is the one that organises the family reunion, but it’s normally Maggie that chooses where it is (hint: at the nearest national park).

He is a retired park ranger and loves national parks, meeting his wife while working as a park ranger. He and [name_m]Adam[/name_m] share a close bond and he loves that [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is still close and visits him. It was hard for Maggie’s mother to prove she was right for [name_m]Adam[/name_m] because [name_u]Davis[/name_u] hated the problematic people in her family but she has enlightened him to the good side of her family and [name_u]Davis[/name_u] now loves her and [name_m]Adam[/name_m] together. [name_u]Davis[/name_u] is close with his wife and children.

[name_f]Wendy[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] (Ganth) [name_m]Thompson[/name_m] (38) is Davis’s’ daughter-in-law and Maggie’s mother. Having endured so much trauma in her own home, escape was what [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] longed for more than anything, and she ran away numerous times growing up given the awful things she faced. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a surprise when [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] learned one of her sisters’ and her brother were also subjected to the same treatment, the only two siblings being spared were the oldest who it was harder to exert the same control over. When the truth came out, Wendy’s older sister called the police and even got into an argument with their mother about her trying to handle the situation by herself - however lack of physical evidence and the survivors not wanting to go through legal proceedings mean no convictions ever happened; something that plays on Wendy’s mind a lot. One of her brothers’ recently passed away after sustaining fatal injuries a car accident and wanted to see [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] to apologise and earn forgiveness before he died, but she refused to see him, as she knew she couldn’t wholeheartedly offer that, nor did she want to given the years of torment she experienced thanks to his actions. While some people would call this cruel, Wendy’s past caring, thanks to having faced a lot of judgment for how her PTSD manifests: usually in depressive spells or disassociation.
A quiet, mild-mannered and polite woman, [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] worked as a model once she moved out the family home following things being revealed and runs her own agency that’s dedicated to keeping it’s staff safe, respected and treated right. She chose to have only one child with [name_m]Adam[/name_m] thanks to the severe post-partum depression Maggie’s birth was followed by, and her doctor warned it could escalate further if the couple tried again, something [name_m]Adam[/name_m] was unwilling to ask of his wife, in spite of their initial dreams of having a big family to match his own. Thanks to having to prove not all of her family are bad people, Wendy’s relationship with [name_u]Davis[/name_u] is strained on her end, as the reception she received made her feel she was being held accountable for abuse she was subjected to (never mind that her siblings, who did nothing wrong and faced their own pain in some cases, also had to justify they weren’t inherently bad people). Her older sister’s her main confident, alongside her best friend - Maggie’s godmother - who she met at an assault based group therapy session, when she was only 21 and very much still suffering the worst of things. While she’d never prohibit [name_m]Adam[/name_m] from seeing him or talk badly about him to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] - who she wants to grow up safe, loved and protected from the horrors she and her siblings went through more than anything - [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] prefers keeping her distance, especially as she knows her older sister has a lot of anger regarding this and doesn’t want to see everyone unhappy. Most of all, [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] wants to avoid the assumption she’s relentlessly paranoid or a helicopter parent: a task that isn’t easy given how abuse survivor’s find themselves scrutinised so relentlessly.

[name_m]Percey[/name_m] [name_u]June[/name_u] Ganth (8) is Xavier’s youngest daughter, and is fun-loving, funny, and cheerful all the time. She is currently attending the same school as [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. She is attending dance classes (ballet) and gymnastics. She loves spending time with her younger brother, who she is extremely close to, as well as her oldest brother. Her and her sister are currently pretending each other don’t exist.

[name_f]Ffion[/name_f] likes drama and [name_m]Percey[/name_m] and her go to same performing academy, which does gymnastics, singing, drama and dance. [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] is close too the family cat Magpie (pie) and is the only welsh speaker out of the 5 siblings, learning from her welsh Mom, or Mam, Mom in welsh. [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] is headstrong and independent and refuses to ask for help.

Evan Floyd Ganth (6) is the youngest child of Xavier. He already has a talent for acting, and has recently been diagnosed with dyspraxia. He has also recently started attending dance and drama classes at Ffion and Percey’s performing academy, and absolutely loves them, especially drama. He is extremely close to Percey, and really wants a dog.

Tyrone “ Ty “ Brody Ganth (14) is the second-oldest child of Xavier, who as he’s realising, is truly not the nice father that he says he is. He’s about to surprise Evan with a rescue dog, Knight [left] for Evan’s amazing talents and how he works through his dyspraxia. Ty and Evan used to not get along and argue a lot but now Ty is trying to rebuild his brotherly relationship and has made significant progress this year. Ty used to be more standoffish but is becoming a nicer and better person, which is making him happier. He gets along with his mother and older brother because they’ve been the most understanding of how the extended family drama has affected him, but he truly believes it was Evan who has made him the happiest in the end. He believes Percey and Ffion have the potential to get along better in the end as well. Ty loves electric slide dancing at the academy.
He feels bad that his paternal aunts and uncle never associate with Xavier anymore but he’s coming close to the idea why. He doesn’t realise that his father was a past abuser and although he insists it’s in the past, it’s not forgivable, especially for his survivors. Ty focuses on the good in life but he and his siblings are farther away from Xavier now and they may end up living with their mother later on, since she’s very concerned herself about her husband’s actions. Ty and his siblings always grew up closer to their mother but he’s been more suspicious of Xavier now, to the point where seeing eye-to-eye with him is next to impossible. Ty could never imagine abusing his siblings and in his future, he may be completely distanced from his father, not even wanting to mention the X-word…

[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] " Ero " [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] Ganth (31) is the estranged aunt of [name_m]Ty[/name_m] and youngest of her siblings, as well as another victim of the abuse that occurred within the family. In the family divide, Ero firmly falls into the circle consisting of the two eldest siblings - her brother and sister - [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and her brother closest in age, and if some call [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] cold for how she handles those who mistreated her, Ero’s hostility is much more open. The pain, shame and guilt of what she was subjected to proved so powerful for Ero that she ended up heavily using prescription medication in her early twenties as a means of blocking out memories of what happened to her, running away from college on several occasions in her first two years and dropping out in her third after her addiction completely began controlling her life. She went to live with her oldest brother - the one who didn’t abuse anyone and helped his three siblings who were targeted - but the road to recovery was a difficult one, and her pattern of running when she was confronted by the past reached its worst when [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] attempted to reach out and apologise. Ero has never responded to this as she can’t face him - something she’s frustrated about still, even though her loved one’s and therapist insist she shouldn’t rush this process - and truthfully doesn’t known if she ever can.
While living with her brother and his then-boyfriend (now husband), Ero abandoned her prior academic pursuits - in spite of her talent for maths - and re-engaged with music: something she’s always loved, but went through phases of dropping thanks to her moodswings. She picked up playing guitar and saxophone once more while working as a waitress to contribute to the household and subsequently found her true passion in music teaching. Ero now runs her own mini school with two of her closest friends, acting as the main accountant and financial planner, which specialises in different instruments for a range of students. Her mental health is considerably better too, now she’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and takes medication to regulate her emotional state; talking on the phone frequently with [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and their brother who was also abused, as the three find understanding and empathy in one another that’s irreplaceable. Her nieces and nephews are a mixed bag of emotions for Ero, as in spite of wanting nothing to do with [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], she knows his children shouldn’t suffer. Recently, her nephew (Xavier’s oldest son) reached out to Ero’s brother - the one she used to live with - and it’s caused some ripples within the family dynamics as no-one knows how to respond given the natural hostility the past has caused.
Ero doesn’t have a partner, being demisexual but disinterested in dating while she’s still in a shakey place herself, but does have a three-year-old son who was born following a one night stand: a very friendly child who’s obsessed with krakens right now and insists squids and octopuses are just too small for his liking. He lives with her during weekdays and stays with his dad on weekends, who she’s become close friends with in spite of their incompatibility romantically. Her son is very close with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] due to them both being only children, but deep down, Ero knows she’d like to have another at some point with how much joy and light her son brings to everyone he meets.

[name_m]Avraam[/name_m] [name_m]Saleh[/name_m] [left] and [name_u]Arman[/name_u] [name_m]Sash[/name_m] [right] [name_m]Deniskov[/name_m] (44) are twin brothers of Kazakh descent, with [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] being the brother-in-law of Ero. [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] knows Ero since he and his husband, Ero’s brother, once lived together. [name_u]Arman[/name_u] was the one who warned [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] about the dangers of the abuse in Ero’s family and doesn’t get along with [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] but is staying civil. [name_u]Arman[/name_u] has become more tolerant and accepting of the non-abusive members of their family but none of the abusers, not even the one who recently died, especially due to circumstances with his own family. The twins are close with their late paternal grandfather since he was the one who first emigrated and was the first-generation immigrant. Unfortunately for him, he passed away in the same car accident that took [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], and Ero’s brother. At the time [name_u]Arman[/name_u] was driving the other car in the crash and their grandfather was a front-seat passenger when the car slammed into the side of the vehicle their grandfather was on, killing him on impact. [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] was not involved in the crash and feels terrible that this had happened but it is nothing compared to [name_u]Arman[/name_u], who suffers PTSD and always feels shame on himself as he was the only survivor on either car in the crash. [name_u]Arman[/name_u] struggles with mental health and bonds with Ero due to her own past personal battles. They’ve become great friends and [name_u]Arman[/name_u] is also a teacher at the mini-school with Ero.
[name_m]Avraam[/name_m] has been a good guide to [name_u]Arman[/name_u], even if [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] is technically the younger twin by 15 minutes. He’s also very close with his husband and constantly praises him for being there for his siblings despite the tremendous abuse. He agrees that people shouldn’t fall into the vicious cycle and has always supported that his husband is a good-hearted individual. [name_m]Avraam[/name_m] and his husband have co-founded a care centre for senior citizens given Avraam’s mutual love for his late grandfather and respect for the elder generation. Still, he’s a super fan of the young generations as well and their impact on the future and is close with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and with Ero’s son.

[name_u]Toby[/name_u] [name_m]Kwan[/name_m] [name_u]Sun[/name_u] Yoo Ganth is Ero’s son. He is extremely close to her, but still loves his Dad. At the moment, he’s obsessed with Krakens, and all things ocean in general, convincing Ero to let him learn to swim in the hopes of finding a Kraken when they go to the beach. He loves being social, and will tell anyone who will listen a gazillion facts about the sea (his words). He is becoming much closer to [name_m]Avraam[/name_m], and absolutely adores [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], and looks up to her, saying he wants to be just like her when he grows up.

Do-hyeon " [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] " Yoo (31) is Toby’s father and the former brief love interest of Ero. A tattoo artist who runs a body art shop set up by himself and three friends - two tattooists and two piercers - [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is a firm believer in promoting self-expression and absolutely adores his son, even having a kraken tattoo on his ribs to symbolise Toby’s greatest interest. Unlike Ero, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] grew up in a safe family home, having been adopted from Goyang when he was two years old by his parents: both of whom are Korean-American and adopted all three of their children from his fathers’ birth country (as his mom’s a second generation immigrant). Culture is highly important to [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], equal to artistry and his thinly veiled passion for cookery; and he’s already teaching [name_u]Toby[/name_u] how to read and speak Korean, with him and Ero having agreed writing will come once their son’s more confident. In a way, the Yoo’s are a much appreciated balance for Ero and her family, as they provide stability and calm in ways the Ganth’s past can’t - although [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] has nothing but respect for the family members his ex still has relationships and contact with; having formed a strong friendship with Ero’s brother closest in age, and he also gets along well with [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and [name_m]Adam[/name_m] due to Maggie’s bond with [name_u]Toby[/name_u].
In spite of coming across as completely confident and self-assured, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] has experienced a lot of anxiety throughout life. While art has always been his greatest source of pride and his true calling, the uncertainty of the industry and constant warnings about failure intimidated him greatly when he was preparing to leave school and look for an apprenticeship - to the point he almost gave up on pursuing this until he sat down to talk with his mom. Part of what exacerbated this is Atticus’s’ sister is a plant biologist who obtained a university scholarship just a year before he began making these plans, and he tends to compare himself unfairly to her, as she’s always been the effortlessly mature one of the siblings. While they’re closest in age it did create distance until they were in their mid-twenties, and both were able to understand one another better; as Atticus’s sister tended to give him advice that fell into a little too harsh for what he needed to hear in his teens. Like Ero, [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] would like to have more children, and they’re considering having another together as it’ll not only be mutually beneficial but make understanding things easier for [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. Some people might consider this a bizarre choice on their behalf’s, but as far as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is concerned, whatever’s best for their family is their decision to make.

Cedrica [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] Hogarth (33) works with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] at his tattoo parlor and has been friends with him for years. She goes by either Cedrica or [name_f]Blossom[/name_f] since A) she resonates with both names and B) she’s very easy-going. Her favorite thing to do is help people relax and trust their bodies as they get the tattoo of their dreams, and to educate people about tattoos for people of color, since there are so many misconceptions and stereotypes.
She babysits [name_u]Toby[/name_u] regularly, joking that it’s a part of her job description and that [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] should pay her overtime, but she honestly does it because she longs to be a mother. Unbeknownst to anyone–even [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] who is one of her favorite people on Earth–she had an abortion when she was 17. It was the right thing for her to do because not only was she a child with little to no resources, the father of the baby was toxic and abusive, and she barely got out of that situation with her life. So she doesn’t regret her choice. It’s more like she’s finally reached a point in her life where she can make a different decision. She thinks that it’s beautiful that [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and Ero are willing to have another child together, even when there’s no longer romance between them, and she’s their biggest supporter. If they decide not to, she’s considering offering herself as a surrogate. Of course, they might not be interested or comfortable with that, so she’s looking into other options for herself, since she doesn’t want to wait for “the right” relationship to come around. She prefers casual dating anyway, or just being single. Although, to be completely honest, she’s starting to wonder if she has feelings for [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
