[name_f]Maral[/name_f] [name_u]Erdene[/name_u] (16) is the older sibling of [name_f]Arban[/name_f], who is genderfluid and uses they/she pronouns. [name_f]Maral[/name_f] used plenty of names in the past, such as [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Marlene[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] (because her name means deer in Mongolian), but eventually came to appreciate their name and it’s cultural heritage and significance, as it belonged to her paternal grandmother who they never met. They were very close with [name_u]Gary[/name_u] and were very saddened when he died, but they wish the best for [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and her kids, though they don’t often see their cousins from [name_u]Gary[/name_u]. They love [name_f]Arban[/name_f], but detest some of her behavior and wish she would clean up her act already. [name_f]Maral[/name_f] believes that life is too short to get caught up in gossip or rumors, and they aren’t very popular in school, but they’re fine with that as she’s wise beyond her years and recognizes that popularity is stupid anyway.

[name_f]Maral[/name_f] is currently rocking high school, they are in lacrosse and band. They play percussion, and are very proud of it. They also have a boyfriend, who they’ve been going steady with for a month. [name_f]Maral[/name_f] wants to take things slow with him as he started out as her friend, and she doesn’t want to mess that up if it doesn’t work out, but nevertheless she’s very grateful for him being in her life. The two are very cute together, and all their friends say this. [name_f]Maral[/name_f] and her boyfriend are also both pan, something they bond over- [name_f]Maral[/name_f] came out at 13 and was met with utmost respect and support from her parents, which she’s still very relieved about.

[name_f]Maral[/name_f] is looking at colleges right now and right now she wants to be a lawyer, and is hoping she can get into her dream school of [name_f]Columbia[/name_f]. They get amazing grades and are prided for that, and with the way their lacrosse career is going right now, it looks like they might be receiving some full rides soon. [name_f]Maral[/name_f] is very perfectionistic, and while they know that there’s lots of time to plan, they want to be very informed and prepared for college. Still, they’re trying not to put all her eggs in one basket with college preparations.

[name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] [name_u]Erdene[/name_u] (42) is [name_f]Maral[/name_f] and Arban’s mother and a teacher for the art school that [name_u]Aria[/name_u] is hoping to attend. She enjoys audiobooks and quick workouts. She knows the [name_u]Kim[/name_u] family from Maral’s friendship to [name_u]Aria[/name_u] and she would love to have [name_u]Aria[/name_u] study at her school, but ultimately she doesn’t make the final decision on who gets accepted. She knows about her daughter [name_f]Arban[/name_f] being controversial given her disdain on Apple’s mother and her grief on her uncle. After all, [name_u]Gary[/name_u] was her own younger brother and [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] stayed positive for her children, especially to help them emotionally, but she is very much in grief herself. When she sees [name_f]Paige[/name_f], she is very kind and warm to her and the two are often comforting one another. [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] is grateful for art and turns to it a lot, alongside teaching other art school students.

[name_u]Aria[/name_u] knows [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] and her nice teachings and that has heard success stories from alumni of the art school. [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] has even stated, “Maybe you’ll be the next one!” while admiring Aria’s photos. [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f] enjoys photography as well and has large photos in her house and workplace of photography, both by her and by local artists. The school has art shows every year when visitors can buy art from artists at the school, where [name_u]Aria[/name_u] had an enjoyable time and conversation with [name_f]Sarnai[/name_f]. [name_u]Aria[/name_u] is even more pumped to get accepted and has a desire now to sell photos at the art show if she were to be a student.

[name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] Batbold (44) is Enkhbat’s sister who is also a teacher, although she’s teaching primary schoolers. She loves art too but prefers it more as a hobby but enjoys doing art with Enkhbat. She loves her teaching job and has a lot of respect by her students. That being said, she’s still a person and doesn’t let her leadership position get ahead of her. She tells her students that she’s still just another human, and that teachers have first names and don’t live in their classrooms. There was even one year where she had the cringey task of trying to explain to 8-year-olds that teachers fart too after two students were having a heated debate whether they did or not (she doesn’t like to talk about it).

This year she’s happy to be teaching older students although she will miss them - they’re graduating this year! Well, technically they’re leaving elementary school and being promoted to middle school next year but [name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] still uses “graduation”. Especially since there will be a ceremony for them and the students in her class and the other classes in the same grade are practicing for graduation. She knows some of them are very nervous for middle school. [name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] feels bad that she and the other teachers can’t help them when they’re at middle school but reassures them that they will have lots of teachers to support them. Moving from one teacher to multiples in class will be a challenge but she’s reassured her students how to prepare. She also knows as proven before, that middle schoolers do have quite some drama and she’s told her students to be good people, don’t give into peer pressure, and don’t be a bully. Despite the graduation planning and adjusting her students to looking forward to middle school, she wants her students to have fun! They’ve made it all this way so she’s given the kids a pizza and cupcake party to celebrate. Not to mention, after school ending, it’s summer and they deserve the summer break!

[name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] Batbold (11) is a daughter of Tsetseg’s, and hopeful student of Amara’s although [name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] chose not to have her daughter enrolled in her class, because this could create bias and have her the designated “teacher’s pet” although they are part of the same school. [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] was happy for this because she once procrastinated too much and was unprepared for her book report. She claimed it was because she had a lot of stuff going on in her life and didn’t have time to do a better job. Had [name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] been her teacher, she would have completely called her out because [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] was procrastinating by binge-watching a TV show instead. But on a genuine note, [name_f]Amara[/name_f] is a wonderful teacher and [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] loves her taste in music. She is always engaged by the ways [name_f]Amara[/name_f] gets the class motivated. She really wants to be in Amara’s class when she moves up and this has made her look forward to transitioning schools a little more.

[name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] has picked up music, playing piano for years and would love to do it in the middle school talent show. The event was so fun and she’s seen some middle schoolers in great acts as well. Some of the things [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] is shocked by is that there’s no playground in middle school because they don’t have playtime or recess, although they still get time for lunch and to chat with friends. She and her friends are debating whether they’re going to like middle school next year but [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] believes it will be alright, especially if she gets [name_f]Amara[/name_f] as a teacher. She’s overheard from other students the middle school drama with [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Apple[/name_f], and [name_f]Arban[/name_f] and really hopes her middle school experience won’t be like that although [name_f]Tsetseg[/name_f] tells her that middle schoolers are still people, regardless of the drama they get into and she hopes the girls will use their time to learn and succeed as well. As for graduation, [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] is excited. She’s even getting a cap and gown, although these are rentals so she can’t decorate them or even take them home, but she and the other students enjoying trying and wearing them at school.

Much like many kids, he wants [name_f]Amara[/name_f] as a teacher too. He’s practiced with the classes on graduation rehearsal and he’s hoping for the best. He will really miss his classmates but he knows [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] and [name_f]Ariuna[/name_f] are attending the same middle school next year that he’s attending. He’s very positive about the idea of multiple classes and isn’t nervous about that, to him, it just increases his chances of being in at least one class with them especially since he wasn’t in their class last year. Unfortunately, a friend of [name_m]Woojin[/name_m] won’t be going to the same middle school but [name_m]Woojin[/name_m] will definitely keep in touch. He thinks a lot about being a teenager next year especially being the younger brother of a teenager but he’s happy to enjoy his last year of childhood.

[name_m]Woojin[/name_m] is almost certain he’s gay although he wants to know for sure before coming out. Anyone who suspects he is gay has been very supportive of him while also respecting that only he can make the decision on coming out. Although this caused stress in the immediate aftermath for his health, there thankfully have been no lasting complications, and on reflection his parents find a silver lining in this, thanks to how it brings [name_u]Luca[/name_u] closer to his Korean heritage.

As his mom jokes, Luca’s proven himself to have his priorities in order, as his blatantly favourite thing is food. He’s not just preoccupied with eating either, as when he’s called upon to help decorate biscuits he’s entirely enthusiast, no matter how much mess is left in his wake. The other best thing in life for the little boy is his stuffed tiger, [name_m]Roar[/name_m] [Luca picked his name decisively], who comes with him just about everywhere.

The nerves she faced when it came to child birth have always been at odds with Erin’s hope to become a parent, however confronting this when she gave birth to her son has greatly helped. However, for how much she loves being a mother and cherishes her son, [name_u]Erin[/name_u] doesn’t want to rush into having another baby, something her partner completely respects and has supported her in advocating.

Unlike him, Erin’s a second generation Korean-American, and she did want to unite both family traditions in [name_u]Luca[/name_u] having a traditional Korean middle name. She’s always eager and excited to introduce her friends more to her culture, having grown up in San [name_m]Francisco[/name_m], where she also attended college - having met her partner when she took a long weekend trip to [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] over spring break and they ended up sat next to each other on the flight. Her degree in photography’s something [name_u]Erin[/name_u] jokes about not really needing, as she now works as a PA to a magazine publisher, but for her it meant most meeting the man who’s made her so happy [although being so openly mushy isn’t something Erin’s known for doing unless they’re in private].

[name_u]Erin[/name_u] and [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] were actually pregnant at the same time, and found out on a girls trip with some of their other college friends. Stacey’s daughter was born two months after [name_u]Luca[/name_u], so she actually just had her 1st birthday.

[name_u]Stacey[/name_u] and her husband are very very loving and they are the best of friends. They have an older daughter too, who loves [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and her little sister. She is 4 years old. [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] is an amazing mom and loves to spend time and make memories with her family. She wants a big big big family, but her husband is good with two kids. Both of their daughters already give them enough trouble lol.

[name_u]Stacey[/name_u] grew up kind-of chubby, and was bullied as a young child. By the time she was 11, she wasn’t eating that much and was severely underweight. When people started body-shaming her for being so skinny, [name_u]Stacey[/name_u] realized no one is ever perfect and went into recovery. Now she is teaching her daughters how to love their bodies and has them perform affirmations. She hopes that she can teach them that they are beautiful the way they are, and bullying is never okay.

While her sibling might be eager for another child in the house, [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] probably won’t be as enthusiastic, as being the baby means she’s showered with affection, and she’s already proven herself quite the performer in how she interacts with others. She’s firmly proven to be a momma’s girl already, absolutely adoring [name_u]Stacey[/name_u], and when they’re separated for what [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] considers too long she becomes quite cranky, a trait her dad thankfully finds very endearing.

Cora’s gymnastics already fascinate [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] too and she’s delighted watching her sister practice - so there are some considerations for her to start lessons too. However, the girls’ parents are going to check Cora’s comfortable with this and that no unhealthy rivalries develop between their daughters - not too hard right now as Hazel’s absolute favourite thing is helping with baking. Usually she’s primary taster, but she’s now started to do some mixing too, and is very proud of the creations she and her dad rustle up together.

The siblings have plans to invest in a Colombian holiday home for joint use as well as holidays for their individual families, thanks to their mutual respect for their heritage and wish to keep it alive in their own families. Cammi’s always been the more cautious sibling, partly because their parents were always trying to set her up with the son’s of their friends, boys they personally approved of - which [name_f]Cammi[/name_f] found absolutely mortifying [and [name_u]Tony[/name_u] thought was pretty hilarious]. A licensed dermatology nurse, [name_f]Cammi[/name_f] also experienced a lot of eczema growing up, which she hopes her child won’t inherit. Having once been very shy, [name_f]Cammi[/name_f] developed more confidence as she matured, helped by the fact she joined the debate team when she was sixteen [which helped her fend off the suitors her parents set her up with], and now she tends to be the more level-headed child compared to [name_u]Tony[/name_u], although sometimes [name_f]Cammi[/name_f] worries she’ll come across as a bit of a killjoy - in spite of her husband reassuring her it’s a display of caring.
