Create A Family (With A Twist!)

tw: drug dealing, drug abuse, toxic relationship, gang activity, unhealthy lifestyle, garbage personafied in a character

[name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Burton[/name_m] [20] is Hugh’s son, former kingpin to a drug empire, Marty’s ex and father to her child. He’s a shortsighted narcissist who thrives off of manipulating others into performing actions that will benefit him.

He was a high energy child who was always getting into trouble and picking fights at school as an elementary student, his first real taste for crime came when he started joyriding his parents’ car and driving it 90mph around the neighborhood in the middle of the night. From there came the vandalism, and the petty theft.

When he was a freshman in high school he got his first experience with drugs when sneaking into a party held by some seniors. It was basically all over from there. A local dealer approached him not long after, having seen and heard of Russell’s antics, and gave him an offer to join his gang. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] happily accepted and rose through the ranks as a teen, eventually becoming the right hand man of the gang leader.

Being so young compared to the other members he was seen as a new opportunity to get their influence, and ‘product’, into younger crowds. His charismatic personality made him a perfect gang member and even better dealer, amassing large amounts of clients in a short amount of time.

One of his clients he had a sexual relationship with when they were seventeen. She disappeared from his usual drop-off lists at some point. He had heard she got pregnant but hadn’t seen her in months. She was out of his life, out of sight, and therefore out of his mind. It was of no consequence to him that he had fathered a child. Due to his success he was named the next in the line to take over the gang’s moves when the leader who had invited him in was killed in a shootout.

His nocturnal activities were noticed by his parents, but due to the power their son held [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and his wife grew fearful of him and started to largely just stay out of his way. They both knew he would never listen to reason since he was so drunk off his own authority, or often literally drunk and high on the drugs he sold. Though Mr. and Mrs. [name_m]Burton[/name_m] did help finance the mother of Russell’s first child in her move.

He first met [name_u]Marty[/name_u] at a gathering in the abandoned warehouse that the gang operated out of. One of his men had hired the ladies for ‘entertainment’ and upon laying eyes on her he had selected his next target. He paid for her services that night and it was cemented then that he needed her to be his. After a few weeks of back and forth he made the offer to take her off the streets and into his ‘kingdom.’ Ensuring that she would keep coming back to him by getting her hooked on the drugs he provided, and his prize was won.

He saw an opportunity in the clients that she had left behind after leaving her own career, by convincing her to start dealing for him her previous customers were now his. There was also the guarantee that she would inevitably attract more, who wouldn’t wanna buy drugs from a hot blonde like her?

Their industry was bustling, just like always the world was working in his favor. Until [name_u]Marty[/name_u] came to him crying her eyes out one night saying she had been to the clinic and found out that she was five months pregnant. Like before he couldn’t care less about her having his child, all he asked her was if she could still deal. Unsure of what her life would be like without the support of the money she made dealing, [name_u]Marty[/name_u] said yes and she continued to deal up until her arrest. The months went by in drug induced blur, Marty’s pregnancy progressed effectively unnoticed by [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. Thankfully for the both of them, none of their clients were really turned off by the fact that they were buying drugs from a heavily pregnant woman.

When the cops showed up [name_m]Russell[/name_m] refused to go quietly like most of his dealers had, he went down kicking and screaming and had to be tased. Once he was in the interrogation room he quickly turned on his other gang members, friends, and even [name_u]Marty[/name_u], dropping names and addresses that his fried brain could remember since he had been told by the officers that if he cooperated he might receive a reduced sentence. Though that proved to be null and void considering that he was the head of the operation he would be receiving the harshest sentence. All his different charges combined he got thirty years in prison.

Behind bars he’s not much different than he was outside. He’s well known by the guards for starting fights and spending a lot of time in solitary. His parents have visited him maybe twice in the three years he’s been in prison, mainly his mom who feels guilty about how he turned out. Though it’s not her fault at all. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is completely clueless about the whole drama surrounding his and Marty’s child. Though if he knew his father was trying to protect him he would be a little bit pleased. If he had known about it he would probably be able to explain the confusion as to how [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] mistakenly identified Lauren’s daughter as Marty’s.

When he was ruling his drug empire he often used the moniker [name_u]Archer[/name_u] in place of his name, feeling it was more appropriate and less dorky than [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. However one of his dealers real name was [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. Other members of the gang often referred to both of them by the same nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] had heard through the grapevine from other prisoners that [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] had also fathered a child recently and that that child would be about a year old now, give or take. This is the child that [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] and her family have adopted. Believing that [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] were the same person is what lead [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] to make this false conclusion. Marty’s real daughter is still out there, she’s three and living with [name_f]Kat[/name_f] and Lauren’s other cousin, the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family. Her adoptive mother knows how disruptive it would be, but still hopes that [name_u]Marty[/name_u] may someday clean up her act enough to be apart of the little girl’s life, oblivious to the fact that she already has started to.

[name_u]Unknown[/name_u] to [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] has a sinking feeling that his results aren’t quiet right. He made a promise to [name_u]Marty[/name_u] and he intends to keep it. While he’s decided to close the case, for now, he’s still planning to look into his on the side. He’s got a bad feeling that his brother is hiding something and he wants to find out what it really is.
