[name_f]Lenah[/name_f] O’Rourke (13) would occasionally see [name_f]Estera[/name_f] when going to pick her Mom up from work when she was around 8. [name_f]Lenah[/name_f] would go to her Mom and ask her why that woman was so sad and why did they keep her in this cell because she looked upset. Lenahs Mom always looked at her sadly and told her, sometimes people do bad things because they have too. Lenahs maternal grandparents had also been on a low income and her Mom grew up with terrible life and she knew what [name_f]Estera[/name_f] was going through was really bad. [name_f]Lenah[/name_f] is quite young for her age and can be really naive as she was home schooled till she was 7, and missed out on a lot of life lessons. She is the middle child but she does not fit the usual traits of a middle child as she is definitely the favourite child. She loves her little sister but her older brother teases her.
Marija Liepa [Pečiulytė] Prapuolenienė (54) is the friend of Lenah’s mother and the mother of Aras, Estera, and Inesa. She is the aunt of Darius and Oliver. Marija is extremely close to Lenah’s mother and wants to be her friend forever and says she wouldn’t have survived the past two chaotic years without her. She also enjoys having someone to relate to in terms of low income and someone who never judged her or made her feel like she and her family were inferior. Marija is deeply angered when people say poor people are “lazy” or make excuses to why they “brought it on themselves.” Marija worked two jobs when her children were growing up just to support the family in hopes that they will have better lives than what she had. It’s broken her heart realising they haven’t. She admits she regrets over-sheltering Inesa because Inesa had to learn the hard way about reality. She just wants to hug Estera once she’s freed and tell her how grateful she is to see her and will do everything she can to make things better for Estera’s life after jail. Estera has worried Marija won’t accept her due to her criminal record but Marija constantly sends Estera letters saying she would never think ill of her. Marija knows Estera was closer with Aras because he was the only one who she was comfortable talking honestly to. Estera loved Marija, her husband, and Inesa, but she always felt like she had to act like nothing was wrong around them whereas Aras also worked in a stressful workplace and the two related to each other. Marija herself still hasn’t gotten over Aras’s death and absolutely adored him and his quirky Baby Predictor talent, wishing he was there. Despite being the youngest, Inesa constantly felt like the only one of her siblings due to Aras’s passing and Estera’s imprisonment and Marija couldn’t get over it.
Marija is happy Lenah’s mother is helping her children live a good life and hopes Lenah and her siblings are doing fine. She understands first-hand what Lenah’s mother goes through in terms of low income. Marija knows Lenah is rather naïve like Inesa despite Lenah being 3 years older and Marija hopes Lenah isn’t too over-sheltered. But she won’t get involved as it’s not her business and she doesn’t want to come off as hypocritical. Despite Inesa being the youngest in the family, she’s been nothing but grateful and supportive of her mother and Inesa is trying to help Marija and Estera stop blaming themselves. While Lenah is the middle child, Marija finds her more similar to Inesa than to her middle child Estera but Marija adores Lenah’s sympathy for Estera and how she’s never judged her for being in jail. Thankfully Lenah’s older brother has made things easier for Lenah growing up despite his friendly teasing while Lenah’s younger sister is always sweet and putting people in good moods. Darius and Vi are starting to enjoy them as well, especially the youngest O’Rourke sibling who absolutely loves babies. Inesa is starting to see Lenah and her siblings as cool surrogate siblings for the time being although she and Marija both know they’ll never replace her real siblings. Still, this makes Marija very happy that she’s so close with the O’Rourke family and vows to stay friends with them.

[name_f]Martina[/name_f] ‘Marty’ [name_u]Louise[/name_u] [name_u]Arlington[/name_u] [20] is a young woman who was also confined at the prison where [name_f]Estera[/name_f] resides. The two became friends of circumstance when they were both targeted by the same bully in their cell block, while they harassed [name_f]Estera[/name_f] for growing up in poverty they went after [name_u]Marty[/name_u] for being a ‘pregnant jailbird’ since she had been six months along when she was arrested by an undercover cop who had been following her in a sting operation. The bully was also well aware of the fact that it was not her first stint in jail or prison. [name_u]Marty[/name_u] had been born as the fourth out of six children to a single mom who struggled to make ends meet due to her drug addiction, she had turned to hooking to pay for her habit and when [name_u]Marty[/name_u] was old enough she joined the profession as well to help keep herself and her siblings off the streets.
But it wasn’t hooking where she had gotten pregnant, that happened much later. One of the ‘clients’ she met up with offered to pay for her to stop selling her body to other men and to just sleep with him. It was a large sum offered and she couldn’t help but take him up on it. Turns out that money came from drug dealing, he started offering her products in addition to her monetary payment and as they became closer their relationship became more romantic in nature. He later introduced her to the fold of his drug running and showed her how to make more money to send to her family with that. Eventually taking on clients of her own and co-ruling his ‘empire’ alongside him as a queen of sorts.
Due to this fast paced and drug-centered world she didn’t even realize that she was pregnant until she was out of her first trimester. While she was terrified to be a mother it shifted her perspective about the world she lived in and began to make her question her career choices. Her boyfriend was much less excited about the baby, but was typically too high or simply never around to really care. [name_u]Marty[/name_u] didn’t know at the time but in truth she was not the first woman he had gotten pregnant although his ex had gone to rehab and gotten clean upon finding out about her pregnancy and currently lives out of the country. Meanwhile since her baby’s father was never around to hear about her prenatal anxieties she turned to one of her clients. The two became very close, she could feel herself developing feelings for him despite her commitment to her boyfriend and could tell that her client had reservations as well about the intimacy of their relationship. She would later find out it was because he was informing on her to the police for the last two months.
One night the rundown apartment were she lived with her boyfriend and some of his other dealers was descended upon by police. Multiple arrests, including hers, took place that night. As she was being placed into a cop car she recognized one of the officers at the scene, it was her friend. She was devastated and inconsolable for the first several nights she spent in jail. During her interviews she still refused to give up any information on her boyfriend, fearing retribution from him when and if they got out. Only to find out that he had turned on her to take a plea in order to receive a reduced sentence. However through the testimony from the undercover cop allowed some lenience with her sentencing as well, receiving a large fine and three years in jail.
While incarcerated she focused her time on getting better so as to become a better mother to her child in hopes that she could keep them. She also learned of people like [name_m]Gizmo[/name_m], [name_m]Aras[/name_m], [name_f]Inesa[/name_f], [name_f]Marija[/name_f], [name_m]Philo[/name_m], and others through [name_f]Estera[/name_f]. [name_u]Marty[/name_u] longed for an interconnected life like the one that her unlikely friend used to have. She was also hopeful to keep in contact with her once she got out and even asked her to be the godmother to her unborn baby.
Though unfortunately when the time came to deliver her child she was not deemed to be a fit mother by the prison’s psychiatrist and her child was placed into the care of a relative, though they refused to tell her which one. She wasn’t even allowed to hold her baby after the child was born, nor was she informed of the sex of the baby. Shortly after her delivery she was placed back into the general population of the prison almost as if she had never been pregnant at all. This was a deep blow to her mental health and she attempted to take her own life within her cell just days after. However during a spontaneous bed check she was found by a prison guard. They placed her on psychiatric watch and over time did begin to get better, unbeknownst to them that it was not due to their help but due to the sonogram picture that she kept concealed on her body that motivated her to get better. Besides the stretch marks on her body that photo was the only proof she had had that she ever had a baby. Vowing to herself that one day she would someday hold them in her arms again.
Since recovering from her attempt she threw herself into becoming an idea inmate, volunteering around the prison, not fighting back when people degraded her, obeying the guard even when they were abusive. It all paid off when she was released after two years instead of three. Now on the other side of the bars she has been determined to stick to her new life path, keeping her promise to visit [name_f]Estera[/name_f] when she can, and looking for her baby. Using the funds she acquired from working two jobs, as both a waitress and a barista, she hired a private investigator who just sent her some feedback about her case. He’s narrowed it down to just a few people based on the information she’s given him and now she finally knows for certain that she doesn’t just have a baby, she has a daughter.

Sandera “ Sandy ” Elenore Arlington (23) is the third-born Arlington sibling and is also very intrigued by the mystery of Marty’s daughter, whom she is not the legal guardian of. Sandy’s often been bothered by her brown eyes, something she didn’t inherit from her blue-eyed mother, especially since their single mother never disclosed the father. Apparently all Sandy would know from his is basically that he’s brown-eyed. Sandy has questioned if she and her siblings may be maternal half-siblings all this time and come from different unknown fathers, but she’s decided not to pry into that and doesn’t care who is or isn’t her full-sibling. It was Marty who convinced Sandy her eye colour didn’t matter and that she can make her brown eyes her own feature.
Sandy wasn’t a prostitute in the literal sense and did not break any laws but she did sell her private intimate nude photos and videos to make money. She went by a fake name but for legal reasons, used her real age but completely regretted everything she did and felt she was soiling who she was as a person. She often withdrew from others since then but after knowing Marty’s POV during prison time, she reconnected with them and visited Marty as much as possible while she was in prison. Sandy is not going back to selling online what she has sold and deleted what was existing, but she’s still afraid it could come back to haunt her, seeing that the Internet doesn’t forget. From Marty, she knows briefly about the Prapuolenis family and Sandy fears their youngest sibling will have a ruined childhood like Inesa. Granted all the Arlington siblings are alive and none of them are currently behind bars as we speak, but Sandy still worries. She’s become a comforting source and never let the youngest know too many details about what their family went through, but never says that the world is perfect or that bad things only happen to bad people. The best friend Sandy has is Birdie, the pen pal of Estera, who has been a comfort to her as well. Despite the turmoil, Sandy and Birdie still have lighthearted moments as friends, and Sandy is happy for Birdie’s birthday planning to her great-aunt.
Sandy currently has two jobs as well now, a customer service representative and a barista, the latter in which she’s co-workers with Marty. The two have been motivating to each other and Sandy can’t imagine what prison time was like for Marty and what she had gone through. Marty has helped Sandy get through troubles and Sandy is paying it back. Unfortunately Sandy herself doesn’t know where Marty’s daughter is or how Marty will find contact but she’s also connecting with the private investigator and fellow Arlington siblings. She truly trusts this private investigator and is in suspense on the possible people who could be in care of Marty’s daughter.

[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] [name_m]Cambell[/name_m] [30] is the private investigator hired by [name_u]Marty[/name_u] to look for her baby. He’s been a PI since he was twenty-one so the task was not unfamiliar for him and he tackled it with confidence. He’s tracked down cheating spouses, missing people, alimony or child support dodgers and much more so in theory he was sure that finding the baby would be no big deal. However since a prison was involved a lot of the details are kept under lock an key, though as he’s learned in his nine year long career, there’s not much that a well placed bribe can’t get you access to. As he often is, he was proven right and a photocopied version of Marty’s file landed in his hands a few hundred dollars later.
In the comfort of his dimly lit and well decorated office he went over the information. [name_m]Reading[/name_m] all about the charges that landed his client behind bars, prenatal information from Marty’s pregnancy, and the all important information about the resulting child. The first few pages were somewhat vague, containing mostly boilerplate stuff ‘Sex: Female, Weight: 6lbs 8oz, Height: 20in.’ though bored he was pleased that he was able to definitively tell his client that she had birthed a daughter. [name_u]Marty[/name_u] also felt very excited by the information of her daughter’s height and weight, having more vindication for herself as a mother.
The next page had more exciting information in his opinion, custody agreement papers. The first few pages were who didn’t make the cut and notes why ‘Siblings of Ms. [name_u]Arlington[/name_u] have been deemed by social services to be unfit guardians due to lack of steady income, housing, or partner. Search has been expanded to extended relatives with hope that a more nuclear family can be located’ there were even more notes about the various [name_u]Arlington[/name_u] siblings such as [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] but [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] brushed past them in search of more information about the child. Which the next few pages thankfully yielded ‘Placement for [name_u]Arlington[/name_u] baby located, child has been placed with maternal second cousin once removed and her husband Mr. and Mrs. [name_u]Foy[/name_u]. The couple already have a one year old child of their own and have responded in the affirmative when approached with our request. Child will be placed in their custody tomorrow morning.’ while the information ended there it was already plenty for him to go off of. There thankfully aren’t very many [name_u]Foy[/name_u] families with a now three year old who are related to an [name_u]Arlington[/name_u] family. However there are two, both residing on opposite sides of the country. Geoffrey’s next step in the investigation is to visit both and deduce who is in custody of the child he’s looking for.
He’s planning on heading out in the next few days and has already packed up all his PI gear, he just needs to book the respective flights to each town. He’s assured [name_u]Marty[/name_u] that the end of her search is near and is hopeful that she’ll be reunited with her daughter within the year.
Kathryn ‘ Kat ‘ Vivica Arlington (32) is someone Geoffrey has tracked, being a second cousin once removed to Marty, although she’s not either of the people believed to have custody of Marty’s daughter - that’s her sister. She resides in Hampden, Maine like many of the other people she’s met around, like the Prapuolenis family, but it’s actually Inesa’s friend Josie that she knows much more. Kat knows Josie from Josie’s aunt Jessica, who moved from Maine to New York. Kat also originally was from New York but she moved a few months after Jessica. Kat enjoys the scenery of Maine and admires the small town of Hampden and admittedly, she couldn’t afford to live in NYC. She still enjoys their style of pizza and is still a pizza chef of New York style pizza, just in a different hometown. She still goes every New Year’s Eve to see the Times Square ball drop. Kat is bisexual and knows Jessica and their mutual friend Fritz, who still lives in NYC, but she’s not attracted to either of them and the three enjoy being single.
Kat doesn’t know Fritz as well as her sister, who also still resides in New York, and has him as her therapist. Kat’s sister has children, one adopted, but doesn’t know anything about the biological family of her adoptive child. Kat also is a mother to an adoptive child; but it would be impossible for her to be the adoptive mother of Marty’s child — her adoptive child is older than Marty’s daughter, adopted from China, and is male. Both she and her sister did have closed adoptions however. Kat heard her sister saying some very intriguing things about her adoptive daughter’s family, but couldn’t pinpoint what they were. Kat’s sister confided in Fritz about a lot of details but per confidentiality agreements, he cannot disclose any information regarding what Kat’s sister said. Deep down, Kat wants to know but hasn’t gotten a way to get any information. There’s been new beliefs – something off about Marty’s daughter. Who really has her? Kat wishes she knew but alas she doesn’t and Marty’s daughter story is still far more information away than she knew.
What Kat doesn’t know is that her sister may have the daughter of Marty but also possibly not have the daughter of Marty. She doesn’t know Geoffrey found another suspected distant family member of hers, on the other side of the country, who may or may not have the real daughter of Marty in custody. Out of genuine curiosity, she asked the person at the front desk of Fritz’s workplace if they held onto her sister’s private information on Fritz’s behalf. At this point, Kat cared more about her sister’s privacy and wasn’t tempted about illegally gaining private information. However the person at the front desk shockingly said the information was stolen and the computer was hacked! Kat freaked out, it wasn’t her behind the theft, and she doesn’t believe that Geoffrey would break the law. But who would have stolen it? And even if Kat’s sister wasn’t the one keeping custody of Marty’s daughter, what secrets could she have? Whatever it is, somebody got a lot to know.

[name_u]Lauren[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (Arlington) Bolinger (30) is Kat’s sister. She has been taking care of Marty’s baby daughter since she was born, and Marty’s daughter is one year old now.
tw: drug abuse & dealing mention
[name_f]Samara[/name_f] [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] (Garrick) Bolinger (6) is Lauren’s daughter. As both her mom and aunt were adopted by the Arlington’s, this has helped [name_f]Samara[/name_f] settle into her home, as she was removed from the custody of her birth mother only two years ago, having clearer memories of her biological family because of this. Samara’s mother was a serious heroin user and her father not only smoked but sold meth, with the couple constantly moving about to avoid police picking them up, although they never considered social services in the equation. Eventually, a neighbour called the police after suspicions about Samara’s fathers’ activities, and this led to her being taken into foster care.
Her initial time with the Bolinger’s was a little awkward. [name_f]Samara[/name_f] was expecting to be returned to her parents - loving her mom dearly, in spite of her emotional issues and substance abuse dominating her lifestyle - with the presence of [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] and her husband’s biological son furthering her caginess. In spite of this, [name_f]Samara[/name_f] warmed given their kindness, and the fact her adopted moms’ family background meant [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] was ideal at providing reassurance for her, leading to her coming to fully accept their embrace. Samara’s dad has introduced her to horse riding and she absolutely loves it, having been moved to tears when her parents got her a horse of her own for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]: a roan coated mare who she’s named [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f].
I noticed some inaccuracies within some bios so I will clear it. However I’m weird so I’ll clear it the CherryBomb50 way — throwing in a malevolent plot twist. Warning for deception!
Hugh Donald Burton (48) is Samara’s horse riding instructor and a family friend of Lauren. He’s loved horses as long as he’s lived but didn’t really care for a “life in the country”. Hugh hates country music, doesn’t like any other barn animals, and thinks cowboy hats look stupid. He finds that lifestyle corny but adores horses because they’re big and strong in his eyes. He’s Geoffrey’s half-brother and he’s not super close to Geoffrey but supports Geoffrey’s work and applauded, “Thank you for solving who has Marty’s daughter!” However he didn’t want to speak too much about it, stating it was for the privacy of the child.
However he’s got some dark secrets - it’s not for the privacy of the child at all. Or rather, either child at all. You see, Marty’s daughter is three years old and with a family that has the surname Foy. Lauren’s younger adoptive daughter is one and has the surname Bolinger. So Lauren’s adoptive daughter could not have been the same little girl as Marty’s daughter! He knows this but he doesn’t really want any of the Bolingers to know. Hugh plans to stay close with the family until he feels it’s time to “cut them off”. One thing Hugh does a lot is use known acronyms but the meanings aren’t what the acronyms usually are. But he’d never say this and one time when Lauren was picking up Samara, Hugh mumbled “ACDC”. Lauren asked why he mumbled that and he said, “Oh it’s my fave band.” In actuality he was meaning, “Act Cool; Don’t Crack”. Samara’s asked him before about the youngest adoptive Bolinger child, given their mutual status as adoptees, but Hugh always just brushes off information. Because Hugh was noticeably older than Lauren, he often played a role of a friendly father figure to her. He’s never adopted but he loves knowing what it’s like from people who are on that end or adopted those who were. Of course definitely wasn’t the real father to Lauren, after all he’s never been a father when he was barely legal. But someone he knows is…
Hugh likes to be helpful, both with and without the horses. He even tagged along with the family when they were visiting Lauren’s sister Kat and her adoptive Chinese son. He asked Kat, “Your son is such a cutesy tootsie pie guy. So I assume adoption is pretty common with your family?” Kat replied, “Yes, it’s worth it. My friend Jessica is also an adoptive guardian although her adoptive girl is already blood-related to her, she’s her niece.“ Hugh stated, “Cool, do tell more.“ Hugh didn’t want any possibilities of Kat or Jessica finding out about the secret behind Lauren’s 1-year-old adoptive daughter. After Kat briefly told Hugh about her friendship with Jessica, Hugh felt he wasn’t getting the info he was looking for, so he looked through Kat’s mail. He found a mail bag from Jessica of Kat’s journal with a note that read, “You left this at my house. Don’t worry, I didn’t peek, I would never do that. -Jessica“. Well Jessica is nice enough not to peek but unfortunately Hugh isn’t the same way and he secretly snuck the note and journal in his backpack before Kat had a chance to see it. He was also noticing a card with a drawing of Toad from Mario Kart driving on Rainbow Road with the caption, “You’ve heard of Elf on the Shelf, now get ready for Toad on the Road!” Hugh asked, “Kat, why do you have this ridiculous card? It says it’s from Fritz Kaiser but please don’t tell me he’s a grown adult.” Lauren walks in the room and responds, “Yeah he’s a grown adult, he’s literally my therapist. And he’s Kat’s friend.” Hugh just silently mumbled, “Oh. I’m sorry about that.” He then asked Samara a bit about her biological parents but Lauren told him to please not talk about that either. For the rest of the visit, he kept talking about GPS and when anyone asked why he was so interested in that, he replied, “It’s a miraculous invention. I’m talking about it now because you’re going to hear me talk about that a lot”. He was trying to make it sound relevant to the invention but of course in his case, GPS actually stood for “Getting Parental Secrets” and he was using it all as a cover up.
Hugh actually has a lot of stuff he’s collected both on the visit to Kat and after the visit. He was a bit paranoid Jessica, Fritz or Kat would find out about Lauren as well. Lauren asked what he’s talking about and Hugh responded that he is studying JFK and wants to know what Kat remembers anything he said on the visit. Lauren responded, “I asked her and she didn’t say anything about presidents. No hard feelings but once you called her son a cutesy tootsie pie guy, that’s all she really remembers about you.“ “Oh ok, and I don’t mind that she remembers that from me haha,” Hugh laughed. He’s glad that corny nickname is all Kat bothered to know about him and he’s glad Lauren didn’t catch on that “JFK” was code for “Jessica, Fritz, Kat”. Nobody knew about the hole in the idea about Lauren and Marty’s daughter. He went to Geoffrey and exclaimed, “Good job brother but you don’t need to search anymore for Marty’s daughter. She’s safe and sound and I know this for a fact. Just tell Marty that her daughter is fine but the adoptive parents don’t want to see her so there’s no point.” The next day, he taught horseback riding to Samara like normal and he stated he was glad she was a normal kid riding horses and didn’t care about the fact she and her family were NFT. Samara was confused, only being 6 and barely knowing a thing about the internet. Lauren was there and just laughed, knowing the NFT craze was just a stupid internet craze they wanted no involvement in. Ironically it meant “Never Finding This”, as in never finding out what he knows about her sister and Lauren’s other daughter. His main worry was Geoffrey trying to circumvent his secrets but he is putting blood above water and trying to make sure his half-brother is not trying to scope him out. After all, he’s managed to mislead Geoffrey before and it worked out.
So why did Hugh not want Lauren or Geoffrey to look further into Marty’s daughter? Hugh was the father of Marty’s ex-boyfriend! Hugh knew his son was the one who got Marty pregnant in the first place with their biological daughter. If people found out Marty’s real daughter; it would tear a rift into he and Geoffrey’s bond, lose his friendship with the Bolingers, and have his son exposed as a terrible person. This led to Hugh’s obsession with making sure no one knew and his way of misleading and coding his way out. But to the family, he was not behind anything. He was only Samara’s horseback riding teacher and friend of the family, and that’s where he wanted to stay.
tw: drug dealing, drug abuse, toxic relationship, gang activity, unhealthy lifestyle, garbage personafied in a character
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Burton[/name_m] [20] is Hugh’s son, former kingpin to a drug empire, Marty’s ex and father to her child. He’s a shortsighted narcissist who thrives off of manipulating others into performing actions that will benefit him.
He was a high energy child who was always getting into trouble and picking fights at school as an elementary student, his first real taste for crime came when he started joyriding his parents’ car and driving it 90mph around the neighborhood in the middle of the night. From there came the vandalism, and the petty theft.
When he was a freshman in high school he got his first experience with drugs when sneaking into a party held by some seniors. It was basically all over from there. A local dealer approached him not long after, having seen and heard of Russell’s antics, and gave him an offer to join his gang. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] happily accepted and rose through the ranks as a teen, eventually becoming the right hand man of the gang leader.
Being so young compared to the other members he was seen as a new opportunity to get their influence, and ‘product’, into younger crowds. His charismatic personality made him a perfect gang member and even better dealer, amassing large amounts of clients in a short amount of time.
One of his clients he had a sexual relationship with when they were seventeen. She disappeared from his usual drop-off lists at some point. He had heard she got pregnant but hadn’t seen her in months. She was out of his life, out of sight, and therefore out of his mind. It was of no consequence to him that he had fathered a child. Due to his success he was named the next in the line to take over the gang’s moves when the leader who had invited him in was killed in a shootout.
His nocturnal activities were noticed by his parents, but due to the power their son held [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and his wife grew fearful of him and started to largely just stay out of his way. They both knew he would never listen to reason since he was so drunk off his own authority, or often literally drunk and high on the drugs he sold. Though Mr. and Mrs. [name_m]Burton[/name_m] did help finance the mother of Russell’s first child in her move.
He first met [name_u]Marty[/name_u] at a gathering in the abandoned warehouse that the gang operated out of. One of his men had hired the ladies for ‘entertainment’ and upon laying eyes on her he had selected his next target. He paid for her services that night and it was cemented then that he needed her to be his. After a few weeks of back and forth he made the offer to take her off the streets and into his ‘kingdom.’ Ensuring that she would keep coming back to him by getting her hooked on the drugs he provided, and his prize was won.
He saw an opportunity in the clients that she had left behind after leaving her own career, by convincing her to start dealing for him her previous customers were now his. There was also the guarantee that she would inevitably attract more, who wouldn’t wanna buy drugs from a hot blonde like her?
Their industry was bustling, just like always the world was working in his favor. Until [name_u]Marty[/name_u] came to him crying her eyes out one night saying she had been to the clinic and found out that she was five months pregnant. Like before he couldn’t care less about her having his child, all he asked her was if she could still deal. Unsure of what her life would be like without the support of the money she made dealing, [name_u]Marty[/name_u] said yes and she continued to deal up until her arrest. The months went by in drug induced blur, Marty’s pregnancy progressed effectively unnoticed by [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. Thankfully for the both of them, none of their clients were really turned off by the fact that they were buying drugs from a heavily pregnant woman.
When the cops showed up [name_m]Russell[/name_m] refused to go quietly like most of his dealers had, he went down kicking and screaming and had to be tased. Once he was in the interrogation room he quickly turned on his other gang members, friends, and even [name_u]Marty[/name_u], dropping names and addresses that his fried brain could remember since he had been told by the officers that if he cooperated he might receive a reduced sentence. Though that proved to be null and void considering that he was the head of the operation he would be receiving the harshest sentence. All his different charges combined he got thirty years in prison.
Behind bars he’s not much different than he was outside. He’s well known by the guards for starting fights and spending a lot of time in solitary. His parents have visited him maybe twice in the three years he’s been in prison, mainly his mom who feels guilty about how he turned out. Though it’s not her fault at all. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is completely clueless about the whole drama surrounding his and Marty’s child. Though if he knew his father was trying to protect him he would be a little bit pleased. If he had known about it he would probably be able to explain the confusion as to how [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] mistakenly identified Lauren’s daughter as Marty’s.
When he was ruling his drug empire he often used the moniker [name_u]Archer[/name_u] in place of his name, feeling it was more appropriate and less dorky than [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. However one of his dealers real name was [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. Other members of the gang often referred to both of them by the same nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] had heard through the grapevine from other prisoners that [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] had also fathered a child recently and that that child would be about a year old now, give or take. This is the child that [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] and her family have adopted. Believing that [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] were the same person is what lead [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] to make this false conclusion. Marty’s real daughter is still out there, she’s three and living with [name_f]Kat[/name_f] and Lauren’s other cousin, the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family. Her adoptive mother knows how disruptive it would be, but still hopes that [name_u]Marty[/name_u] may someday clean up her act enough to be apart of the little girl’s life, oblivious to the fact that she already has started to.
[name_u]Unknown[/name_u] to [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] has a sinking feeling that his results aren’t quiet right. He made a promise to [name_u]Marty[/name_u] and he intends to keep it. While he’s decided to close the case, for now, he’s still planning to look into his on the side. He’s got a bad feeling that his brother is hiding something and he wants to find out what it really is.
Warning for mail-order brides, crimes, unlikable character, and toxic bonds.
Marsha Rasa Burton [originally Rasa Laurinavičienė] (48) is Russell’s mother, a skilled painter, but who isn’t quite the most trusty person there is. She does genuinely feel bad for Russell because she is one to have emotions and isn’t “some robot”. She doesn’t have a traditional type of romance with Burton, she was actually a mail-order bride from Kaunas, Lithuania. She has a secret within the family, she herself had a criminal background selling stolen valuables, and she signed up for the mail-order marriage website under a fake name so she wouldn’t get caught. She feels she’s partially at fault for Russell’s criminal descent because she too was a criminal. She tried to hide this from her son Russell when he grew up but it’s obvious he found out one way or another. Upon marrying Hugh, she changed her last name to Burton and changed her first name to Marsha but kept her middle name. Her son Russell’s name was slightly inspired by hers. She knows Russell did find his name dorky but that’s mainly because she didn’t know he was heading for a life of crime.
Unlike her husband Hugh who says “FR” (secretly meaning “Free Russell”), Marsha hides her secret phrases through speaking Lithuanian. She’s become good friends with Marija Prapuolenienė but more so with her sister-in-law, the mother of Darius and Oliver, because she is also Lithuanian but more subdued like Marsha. There’s some hubbub talk about when Darius’s wife Vi will give birth to her son and also more hubbub talk that Estera’s prison term ended and she is free. While Estera has been spending most of her time since freedom with Darius and Vi, Marija has been the one most chatty with Marsha about how happy she is to see her daughter again. One time Estera and Marija were both having a conversation with Marsha and while Marija seemed exuberant talking to Marsha, Estera seemed distant and didn’t trust the Burtons at all. Some of the stuff that sounded mildly cringey was making Estera more bothered than usual. Estera knew about Russell from her friend Marty and hated being compared to Russell just because they both had a prison sentence. Also Marsha was lying about Russell - she was claiming Russell did a low level offence like Estera because he felt he didn’t have a choice. Estera went to prison for stealing and embezzling from work but that’s because she was a minimum wage worker trying to make ends meet for herself and her boss was a complete jerk. Not as bad as Aras’s boss, who literally ignored him while he was dying, but terrible enough that she didn’t feel bad about stealing from corporates and needed prison to teach her otherwise. Speaking of Aras, Estera noticed Marsha’s middle name “Rasa” had the same letters as “Aras” but scrambled in a different order. Now both names were legitimate Lithuanian names and weren’t connected; “Rasa” means “dew” while “Aras” means “eagle”, but Estera is hoping that doesn’t get brought up…and it did. Estera almost puked in her mouth when Marija stated her new friendship with Marsha like “the tribute to Aras she never knew she needed.” Marija brought up Inesa a bit but thankfully didn’t go too overboard, which Estera was grateful for. If that wasn’t enough to bother Estera inside, Marsha also pointed out how “awesome” it was that she and Marija also had names that started with “M-A-R”. Estera’s blood boiled and she thought, "You know who else has a name that starts with M-A-R? Marty. And she would hate that her ex-boyfriend’s mother is trying to be a friend to my mother.
Estera may have never insulted Marsha directly in person but she’s always very intense when she tells Marty that Russell is “a son of a b#@$%”. Hugh has never met Estera and doesn’t know she hates the Burtons and this might be a good thing for Estera because then she would just be another person Hugh would desperately try to mislead and hide information from. While Marsha would remain someone Estera despised, Marsha was still liked by several others. Marsha knew Marija was naïve to her but that was something she also related to with Marija, she was naïve too - to Russell. She hated seeing him imprisoned despite him not learning anything while jailed. She was worried when she knew of his crimes leading up to it that she felt she was just too ignorant of a parent and so she acted like every dastardly deed coming from Russell was never his fault. While she is the more empathetic person between her and Hugh, she’s quite a mess with her refusal to admit Russell was wrong. Marsha, with her extreme naïvety, isn’t aware of Estera and Marty’s hatred on the Burtons. But the real person she hasn’t bothered to watch out for is Hugh’s half-brother Geoffrey. Geoffrey’s known all about her inside scoop about her past as a mail-order bride, her son Russell, her marriage to Hugh - and this wasn’t even investigation, this was just knowing her through relation. While Hugh and Marsha aren’t aware of Geoffrey’s sinking feelings, Hugh’s vigilance to avoiding anyone into his plans, and Marsha’s caring and defencive feelings towards her husband and son, are big obstacles in the way of Geoffrey’s lingering realisations. They’re hoping to put it behind before Geoffrey gets too suspicious - but just how suspicious is he? There’s another missing piece of people Hugh and Marsha are completely unaware of - the Foy family!

tw embezzlement fraud murder and extramarital affairs
Amelija [Laurinavičius] Baravykienė (54) is the older sister of Marsha. Like Russell, she’s a criminal, though not in the common sense- she’s framed people for embezzlement and fraud before and committed such crimes herself. Unlike Marsha, Amelija feels no remorse for her criminal activity. Amelija lives by the principle that if you don’t get caught, technically, it’s not a crime. She lives in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, in a fancy penthouse apartment with her husband (who earned his wealth through…not-so-legal ways) and her two teen sons. Her daughter is in her 20s and has cut all contact with Amelija, something that saddens and angers Amelija though she never really made an effort to connect with her beyond surface-level small talk such as “how was your day.” Apart from embezzlement and fraud, Amelija has also done more serious things…
Like helping her husband hide a body.
This was her husband’s personal assistant, Haraldas, who threatened to expose the couple and their scandals- as far as the outside world knows, Mr. Baravykas is simply a successful entrepreneur with a lot of money. Frightened by the prospect of a ruined reputation, the man shot his assistant and asked his wife to help hide the body. She reluctantly agreed, and to this day nobody knows where Haraldas is. They dumped the man’s body in Neris River and have never looked back from there.
Despite helping him hide a body, Amelija isn’t all that dedicated to her husband- she’s had plenty of affairs in her lifetime, and suspects that her older son may be the product of one. However her husband has no idea and believes his wife is loyal and faithful…and for the sake of their marriage and reputation, Amelija has decided to just let him believe that.
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f] Vitalija Newchurch (3 weeks) is Amelija’s granddaughter, not that they’ve ever met and it’s unlikely this will happen. Living in [name_u]Kingston[/name_u], [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], Paloma’s removed from all the chaos and insidious activity her maternal grandparents have embroiled themselves in, the precise thing her mother wanted for her, and influence in how she ended up in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] in the first place. The Newchurch family is everything [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] and her husband would scoff at: responsible, honest, tight knit and genuinely able to communicate with one another. They’re not especially wealthy - running a mechanic business, with Paloma’s paternal uncle having opted to attend college - but it’s not something they’re phased by, given the happiness that exists in how close everyone is. She may have little contact with her mum’s family but it hasn’t stopped anyone from showering [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] with affection, a bit amusing as she’s a perpetually sleepy baby, eager to lay down with her parents for a nap.
Warning for a product of a possible (unconfirmed) affair and more evil crime. Oh and it involves BoredPanda.com; if you don’t know what BoredPanda.com is, it’s a Lithuanian-based website with scroll-down lists and pictures that gets in people’s feeds randomly but they’re satisfying enough to make you want to stay and view the whole thing. It’s clickbait but like, intriguing clickbait.
[name_m]Gediminas[/name_m] " [name_m]Ged[/name_m] " Baravykas (19) is the unknown uncle of [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] and elder son of [name_f]Amelija[/name_f]. He’s recently gotten a job working as an editor of BoredPanda.com at the headquarters in Vilnius. He loves the content but he also sees it as a good distraction - like an escape to keep one’s mind off the evils of the world. Which is not only good for him in a satisfying sense but also good for anyone unsuspecting of the evils of his family. Nobody ever suspects the guy working on a site about funny moments and cat memes. He knows his elder sister moved out of the country but he wouldn’t know where. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] is used to this, his aunt [name_f]Marsha[/name_f], (then known as Rasa) moved out of Kaunas to the States under a fake name. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] still thought her name was Rasa until his teenage years, when told so by [name_f]Amelija[/name_f]. Rasa? Now she’s [name_f]Marsha[/name_f].
“Rasa? Now she’s Marsha,” [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] stated when the Baravykas family came to visit. This was during a time when he was 17 and [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] was taking her husband, [name_m]Ged[/name_m], and the younger son to a family vacation to the States to see [name_f]Marsha[/name_f] and her family. The eldest daughter of the Baravykas family wasn’t there, given she had already moved to [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and was acquainted with the Newchurch family. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] found his sister having a bit of hostility, like maybe she knew something he and his brother didn’t, although she was refusing to discuss the information. While [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was visiting his aunt [name_f]Marsha[/name_f], he met his cousin [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. He noticed Marsha’s new name and had also heard around [name_m]Russell[/name_m] using the name [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. He was completely fascinated by his cousin’s gang activity but never asked about it, he was a juvenile and he wasn’t a U.S. citizen so he believed his parents would never just let him leave the family to join. However during the vacation, he followed [name_m]Russell[/name_m] and watched whatever he did. Ironically [name_m]Russell[/name_m] wasn’t caught for any crimes he committed, he only was caught when he went to a car repair business and the mechanic noticed the car was stolen. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] insisted it was not stolen and the employee was just “being lazy and not fixing it”. This really angered the employee, because he was practically on the brink of being overworked, plus it didn’t help that [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was insulting him in Lithuanian. Turns out the employee there at the time was a then-alive [name_m]Aras[/name_m] Prapuolenis, so he understood every insult and it wasn’t working. He seemed too tired and burned out to complain and he knew how hard prison time would be for [name_m]Russell[/name_m], given what letters he’s been sent by then-jailed [name_f]Estera[/name_f]. However as soon as [name_m]Russell[/name_m] and [name_m]Ged[/name_m] realised [name_m]Aras[/name_m] would not fix the car and would report them, they drove off as quickly as possible but not before [name_m]Aras[/name_m] insulted them back in Lithuanian and [name_f]English[/name_f]. [name_m]Aras[/name_m] wrote down the licence number code on a notepad but misplaced the notepad before the end of that shift. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] didn’t get that notepad but he did happen to get some important papers at Marsha’s house before leaving to go home from the vacation. [name_m]Aras[/name_m] passed away days later before ever being able to report it, but at least [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is currently in prison. Dead men tell no tales.
“Dead men tell no tales,” [name_m]Ged[/name_m] overheard [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] say when he overheard [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] discussing the mysterious disappearance (actually death) of [name_m]Haraldas[/name_m], her husband’s personal assistant. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was never close to Amelija’s husband, his father, because he had a lingering feeling the man wasn’t his father. But he was close enough that knowing the crime history of his parents, he worried [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] or her husband would kill one another if [name_m]Ged[/name_m] knew about the affair. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] wasn’t convinced he could trust his parents, but he was someone obsessed with getting ahead in life, even through the wrongest ways. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] felt if he let his parents do their devious ways, it could work out for him in his advantage some day. Nobody really finds an aspiring meme list site editor to be suspicious and he liked not being taken seriously. However [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was someone who hated lack of answers, not just for his paternity, but where his sister was. Learning she was in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], [name_m]Ged[/name_m] went on a solo trip at 18 to find and talk to his sister. After some searching, he was able to find her. She was very shocked to see him but he reassured her that nobody else knew she lived in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] now. While on the visit, [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was mostly quiet but he did seem like he felt better about himself, mainly since he had answers for his sister. He looked at the papers he brought with him. He had these back when he was at Marsha’s house but didn’t read them at any point. He read them and he was disappointed. They were completely useless! Useless in terms of him, his sister, his apparent in-laws, everything; so he just put them in a little box. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] didn’t know he had in-laws since his sister’s husband was visiting family of his own halfway across the country of [name_f]Canada[/name_f] when [name_m]Ged[/name_m] visited. While [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was searching through his sister’s apartment, he saw a vintage baby onesie. He asked his sister why she had this in her apartment and asked if his sister had a baby. [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] was not born yet, so Ged’s sister’s answer was, “no”. Ged’s sister explained it was a special onesie passed down by the family. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] scoffed, “It’s a really ugly onesie. Also our family wouldn’t put something like this on any babies so it’s painfully obvious you found this at a granny thrift shop or something.” Ged’s sister was going to explain the tradition was from her husband’s side of the family, not her side, but felt with Ged’s rudeness that he didn’t deserve to know she was married. So she folded the sweet onesie, put inside a little box, and simply told [name_m]Ged[/name_m] to knock it off. She wouldn’t talk to [name_m]Ged[/name_m] for the rest of that day and [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was getting a vibe she didn’t want him there anymore. So before he left, he grabbed the box! He gathered his stuff and took the box at the last minute! His sister reacted in panic for [name_m]Ged[/name_m] to give the box back, but he took off with it and flew home with it too. Oh, that beautiful onesie…
Oh, that beautiful onesie…but it wasn’t the onesie [name_m]Ged[/name_m] left with, it was the box with the papers! [name_m]Ged[/name_m] looked at the papers in frustration, before realising the onesie didn’t matter to him. When [name_m]Ged[/name_m] got home, he shoved the box of papers under his bed, he figured those weren’t going to matter to him either. A year passed and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] was born, while her parents have since moved into a better house in a new part of Canada; [name_u]Kingston[/name_u], [name_m]Ontario[/name_m]. [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] has since worn the vintage onesie today and it was never ugly on her, but completely adorable! [name_m]Ged[/name_m] was packing his stuff to move out of the house, but stayed close with his parents in case he had an opportunity for crime in his advantage. When he cleared out his old room, he figured he might as well get the box of papers. He decided to read the papers again, despite the papers having no relevance on his life, as they may carry relevance on Marsha’s life. But they weren’t about [name_f]Marsha[/name_f] either, instead they were referring to a family with a last name he’s never met anyone with: [name_u]Foy[/name_u]. The papers he took were papers explaining who the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family was - the family currently raising Marty’s daughter. [name_m]Ged[/name_m] didn’t have a clue about any of that and only briefly knew about [name_u]Marty[/name_u] from his cousin [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. He regrets stealing these papers from [name_f]Marsha[/name_f] and Hugh’s house since it seemed like something that piqued them more than him. Although he feels like if he sent the papers back to them, it would out him as a thief to his aunt and uncle and they may cut off contact. So he’s mailing it in the most devious way - to [name_m]Russell[/name_m], in his prison cell!
[name_f]Austėja[/name_f] " [name_f]Taya[/name_f] " Vaišvila (25) is Ged’s sister, Paloma’s mother and the estranged daughter of [name_f]Amelija[/name_f], whose decision to cut off contact with her parents has proven to make her life much more happy and harmonious. By choice, [name_f]Taya[/name_f] uses her paternal grandmother’s surname to ensure her mother can’t spring a surprise visit on her: something she’d do when [name_f]Taya[/name_f] was attending university in Toronto [Amelija’s primary reason was a man she was seeing, and her daughter was a convenient excuse to facilitate her affair, with it not being surprising her trips stopped when the man learned she was married and had 3 children]. As the eldest, Taya’s always been the most clued into her mothers’ nature, not that she’s ever witnessed physical proof of her behaviour, but there’s an undertone to [name_f]Amelija[/name_f] she’s picked up on more as she’s aged.
This vibe is something she’s picked up less from her father, however that’s attributed to there being a natural distance between them, as he’s never been particularly emotional accessible to his kids. Ironically, the one thing Taya’s father did agree with was her natural lure towards travel. [name_m]Even[/name_m] before she decided she wanted to attend university internationally, [name_f]Taya[/name_f] was drawn towards the idea of going far and free, actually going backpacking across Australia for a gap year before she went to [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. This is where she met her partner, who was also going along the [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] [name_u]Coast[/name_u] with some friends, and the fact he was from the country she was going to be studying in led to them clicking, as [name_f]Taya[/name_f] appreciated his insights.
The pair didn’t actually become a couple til after she was in the process of completing her linguistics degree. When they parted ways at the end of their travelling, [name_f]Taya[/name_f] and he retained contact online, which continued to her arriving in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and led to meet ups between the pair, which slowly progressed to being more and more overt dates until it was undeniable they were developing feelings for one another. He’s the person with the greatest knowledge of Taya’s complex relationship with her parents - outside of her childhood friends, who she vidchats with on a frequent basis - and what always meant the most to her is, even when they were just friends, he never cast aspersions about her decision to disengage. [name_f]Taya[/name_f] does have contact with her youngest brother - who’s by far the most similar to her personality wise - but prefers to just ignore [name_m]Ged[/name_m] and his antics, especially his classism and snobbery, traits she considers embarrassing at best [and she doesn’t voice the worst part much].
Working in the forensic side of languages, the legal nature of Taya’s work is both an irony to her parents and further influences their distance from her, as [name_m]God[/name_m] forbid she got them too close to any kind of authorities. This led to another uncomfortable exchange between [name_m]Ged[/name_m] and [name_f]Taya[/name_f], as her brother began insisting she invest some money from her job with their family, something that aggravated her greatly [as she knew if another career was chosen by her, he wouldn’t care less]. Thankfully, [name_f]Taya[/name_f] managed to dismiss this without causing offence, but her plans to remain disengaged are firm - especially with [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] now born, and the last thing she wants is someone in her family to use her daughter for improving their own image [really for [name_f]Taya[/name_f] it’s a question of who gets desperate enough first].
Caila [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Foy[/name_u] [29], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlette[/name_f] [name_u]Foy[/name_u] [4], and [name_u]Alma[/name_u] [name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_u]Foy[/name_u] [3] are three out of four members of a family that seems completely far removed from [name_f]Austėja[/name_f] upon first look, but little [name_u]Alma[/name_u] is actually a blood relative of Austėja’s daughter, [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. The girls are actually second cousins, much like Caila and [name_u]Marty[/name_u] are cousins, second cousins once removed to be exact…
Caila and her family are the seemingly elusive [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family that have been the subject of many a question. The papers that are supposed to be locked away in a file cabinet somewhere confirm that Caila and her husband are the ones who took in Marty’s baby girl upon her birth. Despite not being very close with her cousin due to the distance in their blood relation and already having a one year old of their own, Caila felt compelled to take in the newborn. She had heard through the family grapevine that [name_u]Marty[/name_u] was a ‘troubled soul’ who had fallen on hard times and landed in prison. Though some people called her a dreamer, Caila prefers ‘reckless optomist’ and felt that if she took the baby in, then that was the best chance of her someday being reunited with her mother. Her husband felt a little unsure about his wife’s hope for [name_u]Marty[/name_u], he agreed to take in the baby since he agreed it was better than foster care.
The couple chose a name with more purpose than one what would sound nice along side their daughter’s, they chose a name that meant [name_f]Hope[/name_f], and a name that had the same ending of ‘-tina’ to honor the little girl’s mother on the off chance that [name_u]Marty[/name_u] was never able to recover they still wanted a piece of her biological history in her name.
Upon taking the newborn girl home the family instantly fell in love with her and three years later they feel like [name_u]Alma[/name_u] had always been with them. She’s a firm part of the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family and only a few people outside of the family even know that Caila did not give birth to her herself. While more time than she expected has passed, Caila is still hopeful that [name_u]Marty[/name_u] may someday reach out, though she now knows how hard it would be for that to happen since [name_u]Alma[/name_u] undoubtedly sees her as her [name_f]Mama[/name_f] and she is definitely a fixture in the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family now. It would be heartbreaking for all involved to have her ripped away. Unbeknownst to Caila, [name_u]Marty[/name_u] feels the same way that it would be too traumatic to separate them.
However Caila would still love to somehow incorporate her daughter’s biological mother into her life in some way, even if it’s not as her mother. It would only be temporary anyways since someday [name_u]Alma[/name_u] will be old enough to understand.
But as of a few days ago, things have become much more complicated, and even dangerous. Caila arrived home from taking the girls to dance class to see her husband holding a ragged looking letter, and a police officer sitting at their kitchen table, he told her they needed to talk. They hurried to put the girls down to a nap and then back to the kitchen to speak privately. He showed her the letter,
It was from [name_m]Russell[/name_m].
Nearly three pages of expletive ridden words, degrading [name_f]Calia[/name_f] and her family, [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m], even [name_f]Kat[/name_f], and especially [name_u]Marty[/name_u]. Most of all, demanding that they surrender his daughter, “or else he would do it for them.” He went on to mention how several members of his gang are still on the streets, and that many of them were all over the country, probably near the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] residence… [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they weren’t all it took was one phone call and then would be.
The thing is, [name_m]Russell[/name_m] doesn’t even care to be involved with [name_u]Alma[/name_u], it’s the power that he wants. All this time behind bars has made him even more power hungry and having something to hold over someone’s head has given him a thrill that he’s been craving, it just so happened to involve Caila, [name_u]Marty[/name_u], and [name_u]Alma[/name_u].
The officer assured her that her family was safe, they’d be stationing protection units around the block 24/7 until they knew the threat had been dealt with. The real issue was that he wanted to prepare her for something else. He began to divulge secrets from Russell’s file to Caila and her husband.
You see, [name_m]Russell[/name_m] wasn’t the only person who was a high ranking member of the gang, there’s someone else who had ruled beside him. They would know exactly what members of the gang were still out, who they were, what they were skilled in, where they might be, and this co-leader would be getting contacted and brought to the area to help the local police department track down Russell’s men and bring them to justice. He continued to describe the convict, telling the couple that they had already been out of jail for a year already with a steady, although low level job, deemed rehabilitated by their parole officer and ready for a responsibility such as this.
As the officer spoke Caila grew anxious about who this person was and the fact that a former lackey of [name_m]Russell[/name_m] would be in close proximity to her and her family soon, even if for good reason. But when the officer told her the name of the former right hand to [name_m]Russell[/name_m], her fears instantly disappeared, in fact she even got a little excited for what was to come:
“Martina Arlington.”
Warning: Unlikable criminal character also many gang members getting shot, although all are evil.
[name_u]Bridger[/name_u] [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u] [name_m]Lansing[/name_m] (35) is someone Caila, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], and [name_u]Alma[/name_u] had to watch out for, a member in Russell’s gang. Gaining ranks, he’s an expert at crime. He is a father of three but isn’t close to them or their mothers. It’s quite surprising who he fathers - first is [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] Gately! He was on vacation and was the real person who met [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] and fathered [name_f]Arwen[/name_f], but she thought it was [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] [name_u]Bellamie[/name_u] the whole time since [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] stole his identity. [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] still never knew her paternity so she is unaware of the identity steal. Never Tellonme, as [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] liked to call him, did get his identity back but never was able to report the theft. The second were twins [name_f]Candy[/name_f] & [name_m]Iolo[/name_m]! They were in a brief relationship [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] had with [name_f]Lena[/name_f] before [name_f]Lena[/name_f] married her husband. [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] snuck away to do more crimes, much to Lena’s dismay, but now she’s happily married to her husband, who is used to family dynamics and treats the twins as his own. Needless to say, [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] loves Russell’s tricks and schemes alongside the fact that [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] thought she had Marty’s daughter.
[name_u]Bridger[/name_u] was one who wanted to avenge and vowed to bail out and free [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. He knew that the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family would prevent this from happening, especially with Marty’s daughter so he often moved around. [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] did go to the States from time to time but was a native Canadian, born in Newfoundland. He made it to the province of [name_m]Ontario[/name_m]. With the help of other gang members, he knew where the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family lived. However, it was seriously blocked by security. The officers wouldn’t back down. So the gang made a plan: Invade Caila’s house in the middle of the night. Everyone needs to be there for numbers. The police can’t take down everyone. However [name_f]Taya[/name_f] happened to overhear the plan, which no gang members realised.
This did prove useful because on the night of the planned invasion, [name_f]Taya[/name_f] called the security. The security was maximised to full extent. There were more gang members than police but the police were stronger. Police gunned down several members and arrested several as well. Caila protected her daughters from seeing the violence. The [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family was unhurt. [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] ran away from the scene to escape, but a police officer caught and arrested him. It felt like a crazy losing warzone for the gang members. They thought the police security couldn’t “get them all”. They were wrong.
[name_u]Bridger[/name_u] is currently in prison. He knows some fellow members are in prison too but has no idea about the gang’s future. He would be very disappointed now to realise they were all gone. He doesn’t regret anything he did yet and purely only regrets being caught. Make no mistake: [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] is a terrible person. However he at least feels good that nobody in the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family was harmed seeing that he isn’t as violent as he is diabolical. He still feels bitterness over being unable to free [name_m]Russell[/name_m] although likely he wouldn’t afford the bail. What worries him now is the reunification of [name_u]Marty[/name_u] and her daughter, given she and the [name_u]Foy[/name_u] family’s mutual desire to meet one another. [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] and the gang can’t be underestimated, they did try what they could against [name_u]Marty[/name_u] and the Foys to benefit [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. But they have failed - it serves them right.

[name_f]Neelam[/name_f] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_m]Cavanaugh[/name_m] (34) is another one of Bridger’s exes, and for a time he believed he’d fathered a fourth child too: her older daughter. The relationship between the pair was very casual and they both saw other people during the time it lasted, although [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] could be quite hypocritical, becoming easily irked when [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] had made plans with someone else in favour of hanging out with him. She wasn’t aware of just how criminal his activities proved to be, but didn’t consider him anyone she wanted in her life long term, generally having little interest in [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] the more and more she got to know of him. Some would argue the psychology of this is what drove his desire for [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] higher, as her increasing dismissal and unobtainable nature was aggravating, culminating in [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] being convinced she was lying when her first daughter [who’s now 6] was born, in spite of the fact the dates made it absolutely clear that another guy [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] was seeing - who she’s still with to this day, having had another little girl with him a year ago - was the father of this child.
During the time of their relationship, [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] worked for postal services, specifically being involved in the insurance claim side of things. [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] attempted to learn more about her career, given it would help transferring goods throughout his criminal activites, but [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] was dismissive of his questions, and ultimately this led to her suspecting his true nature, prompting her to definitively cut him off. The fact he attempted to use her, and refused to respect her boundaries where her child’s paternity was concerned, proved the final straw for Neelam; although many close to her noted things would never last. Her no-nonsense, driven and stubborn personality proved impossible for Bridger’s ego to handle, as everyone noted he didn’t really respect or like her character, it was more a challenge to him being able to dominate her, one that turned out to be a failure.
Since spending time in prison, [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] heard from [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] once, when he reached out to ask about legal help. Her sister’s a defence attorney, however [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] instead provides [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] information for others, not wanting him to have contact with her family as she knew he’d continue trying to restart something with her [as had become the pattern since she broke things off between them]. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to a white father and Pakistani mother, [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] reconnected more with her maternal culture and heritage upon becoming a mother, feeling a little lost following the limbo of associating with [name_u]Bridger[/name_u]. She subsequently has started a new job, working as a translator who specialises in Urdu and Punjabi, and encourages her older daughter to keep up writing in the former, as it helps keep her confident in speaking it. [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] has contemplated speaking to the women who have children with [name_u]Bridger[/name_u], in case any of them hear from him when he’s looking for someone to rely on, however she’s cautious as merely hearing his name gives her quite the headache.
tw: depression, drug use, death of a parent/absent parent, mentions of gang activity and sexual favors
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] [20] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] [4] are neighbors and new friends of [name_f]Neelam[/name_f] as they recently discovered that they share something pretty big in common, they’ve both been tangled in relationships with members of the same gang. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is actually the mother of Russell’s first child. Back when she was seventeen she was in a pretty deep hole of depression due to the passing of her mother. She began to use drugs to cope with the loss, eventually buying regularly from [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. Her father never really noticed what trouble his daughter was in, too numb from his wife’s death to do anything other than sleepwalk through life.
Her habit started to drain on her finances and she ran out of money quickly, so she offered to pay him with ‘alternative methods’ which later elevated to a more intense romantic relationship, though it was mostly in name only as neither of them took it particularly seriously. [name_m]Russell[/name_m] didn’t obsess over [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] like he did with [name_u]Marty[/name_u], not really sincerely loving her. She didn’t really love him either, she was in it for the product.
Until she found out that she was pregnant. The discovery came as a shock to her system, inspiring her to clean up her act. Suddenly realizing that she was heading down a dead end road and that [name_m]Russell[/name_m] would only drag her down it quicker, she’d seen how he behaved and knew that it would be child abuse to subject a baby to him. So she reached out to [name_f]Marsha[/name_f] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and asked for money, which they supplied to her to pay for her move across the country.
Now financed by her baby’s biological father she was able to get clean, get back on her feet, and get ready to meet her daughter. Learning early on of the baby’s sex as she underwent multiple tests to check for effects of her drug use during early pregnancy. Thankfully [name_f]Luna[/name_f] was born healthy after her mother went through eighteen hours of labor all alone in the hospital.
Now her priority is her daughter, who’s middle name is in honor of her maternal grandmother, and raising her on the right side of the tracks. Recently when she saw the news story about the gang bust, instantly recognizing several of the members. The rehashing of old emotions came quickly, as much as she tried to fight it the emotions eventually escaped while she was out getting the mail when she burst into tears. [name_f]Neelam[/name_f], who was on her way home at the time, noticed and came over to comfort her. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] couldn’t help but pour her heart out to her neighbor, and then they realized what they had in common.
The friendship between the two women is very new but both have enjoyed having an ear who understands some of the chaos that they’ve been through. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has weighed in a little on Neelam’s idea of reaching out to the mothers of Bridger’s children. While she’s acknowledged that it might bring some closure and some prep in case [name_u]Bridger[/name_u] attempts to reach out to them, though she’s also been advocating that maybe it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie.
