[name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Nautica[/name_f] Briar-Roy (newborn) is [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] and Joshua’s daughter as well as [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] 's goddaughter. She is a quiet and perpetually sleepy baby who can snuggle up and have a nap in the arms of just about anyone once held. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] experienced this first hand recently when she visited [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] to catch up and grab a cofee at the family’s home.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] was named by her father , as [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] felt that despite being a little scared of the massive life changes of parenting , looking in the little girl’s eyes give him just that - [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that they’ll handle everything maturely despite their young age.
Her middle name is also significant - [name_f]Nautica[/name_f] means “pertaining to ships or sailors” - ships, sailors, water , mermaids and diving were the absolute biggest passion of [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] 's late sister , [name_f]Amy[/name_f] , who died at 17 as a result of a scuba-diving accident where the bottle with oxygen wasn’t adjusted properly to the depth at which [name_f]Amy[/name_f] was diving, eventually making her unable to breathe and causing her to drown. She was going to write her SATs the next year and sign up for the [name_u]Navy[/name_u] after finishing school because she wanted to know how to operate and maintain battleships. [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] came to the conclusion that [name_f]Amy[/name_f] would rather be honored through her passion than her actual name being given to his daughter , so [name_f]Hope[/name_f] recieved the middle name that she did. He hopes that his sister’s memory will live on and have an impact on her daughter , her late aunt’s story reminding her that it’s doing what you love which makes life worth living.
