[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] “ [name_m]Ian[/name_m] “ [name_m]Ruben[/name_m] Servey-Kinkaid (5) is one of the brothers of [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] and the half-brother of [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]. He has another brother in the family as well. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] loves the glamourfied hearing aid [name_u]Avi[/name_u] has, seeing he’s obsessed with creativity, although he doesn’t understand that [name_u]Avi[/name_u] has FASD. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] loves colours and loves glitter even more but can’t be unsupervised for too long or he’d make a mess. He’s very excited about Halloween, definitely incorporating face paint in his costume. He’s not afraid of monsters or witches or vampires and whatnot, knowing they’re not real, but [name_f]Eva[/name_f] had to hold in her laughter when [name_m]Ian[/name_m] also stated there’s no such thing as skeletons. Deep down, [name_m]Ian[/name_m] didn’t believe in pumpkins either until the [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_m]Chip[/name_m] took him to a pumpkin patch. He was surprised they didn’t look like Jack-o’-lanterns but that’s because he wasn’t told yet that they need to be carved to be Jack-o’-lanterns. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] likes scary stories told to him before bed, something most of his classmates are surprised by, but the scary stories are mainly just silly monsters and aren’t scary at all. Usually these stories were told by [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_u]Scott[/name_u], or an older sibling. They like Ian’s innocence in terms of “scary” because they know it’s far more lighthearted than the scary truths behind [name_m]Chip[/name_m] and [name_f]Gina[/name_f].
[name_m]Ian[/name_m] isn’t self-aware on this, but he’s not felt a close bond with [name_f]Gina[/name_f] and [name_m]Chip[/name_m] like he feels with the rest of his family. He knows [name_f]Gina[/name_f] and [name_m]Chip[/name_m] are his parents but doesn’t see them as close as he feels he “should” and gets bothered when people talk about how close they are with their own parents. He’s even asked, “Why is everything all about the parents?” He didn’t realise it wasn’t the fault of other people for having closeness with their parents, it was [name_f]Gina[/name_f] and Chip’s fault for not giving him that good parental bond. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] won’t admit it, but he won’t miss it when [name_f]Gina[/name_f] and [name_u]Scott[/name_u] lose custody of the kids to [name_u]Scott[/name_u] and [name_f]Betty[/name_f]. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] is very close with his brother who’s only a year older than him but he also enjoys not being the youngest and feels [name_u]Avi[/name_u] plays that role perfectly. He used to not understand the three eldest, but warmed up to them after getting “scary” stories told to him before bed. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] sees them as loyal and strong people and he’s told he’ll understand it all more when he’s older. For now if he wants to enjoy spooky season, he can and if he wants to paint, he can. It’s important for him to find interests he loves and people who won’t judge him, so it’s a big focus for him at the moment.
