Ryōtarō " [name_u]Riley[/name_u] " [name_m]Leif[/name_m] Miyamura (25) is the frontman of Frenemy, and many refer to how ill equipped he is for that job given he lacks diva tendencies or sudden moodswings regarding the vision of the band [having been the one with [name_f]Sereia[/name_f] to decide on their sound being a mixture of grunge and alt. rock, but there’s never been an opposition for them including jazz elements, as their bassist also plays saxophone, and a lot of [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and he’s college friends are likewise involved in that scene]. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to a Norwegian mother and Japanese father, Riley’s parents emigrated from their home in [name_u]Kyoto[/name_u] at the behest of his uncle. At the time, Riley’s parents were newly married but didn’t have any children, so when the business started to gain international interest and someone needed to move to manage the international customer base, his dad offered because his brother had a young child and another on the way. [name_u]Riley[/name_u] was born just over two years later, once they were comfortably established, and his parents decided to remain in the States rather than uproot their family once more; especially as it would be much more stressful attempting to find a replacement for the management roles they served in the business.
This doesn’t mean [name_u]Riley[/name_u] hasn’t had a lot of contact with his maternal and paternal families: he’s flown to Japan and Norway frequently with his parents, and has gone on solo trips out there since he turned 18, being especially fond of [name_m]Halden[/name_m], where his maternal grandparents and mom’s sister live; having developed a love of snow based sports from his time spent with them. [name_u]Riley[/name_u] actually did an [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] year of study in Tromsø while completing his music degree, quickly developing a popular reputation as he speaks and reads Norwegian fluently [although he’s a bit less confident in writing the language], and is even more confident with Japanese. Sometimes growing up he wished he wasn’t an only child, or that his cousin’s could live closer, as he envied his friends bonds with their siblings; but upon learning his own birth had been traumatic and taken a serious toll on his mom, he knew why his parents never had or adopted more children - they knew they didn’t have the time, especially as Riley’s mom needed a lot of physical therapy to overcome the unforseen complications.
He tends to be quite a homebody when not performing, enjoying time relaxing with his roommates - one of whom is a fellow musician but not a member of Frenemy, instead belonging to a group called 115% sasquatch - or doting upon his adopted cat, [name_m]Joji[/name_m] the tortoiseshell. [name_u]Riley[/name_u] wants to have kids of his own someday, and is prone to asking [name_m]Eros[/name_m] a lot about fatherhood, being endlessly proud of how his bandmate handles the responsibility and dotes upon his children. He and his girlfriend - who uses she/xe pronouns - are in agreement about this in the future, but know they need their own place, as she also lives in the shared house, which has 5 inhabitants [Riley, his girlfriend and 3 others] and that’s not counting pets. The songs [name_u]Riley[/name_u] writes tend to reflect his calm demeanour, but also his black sense of humour, and tend to have a wry spin to them, not reflecting on personal stories but more so quirky amusements. He’s a very private person, which also influences this style, and doesn’t feel comfortable exposing himself to strangers, which is the only rule [name_u]Riley[/name_u] has: that no-one feels they owe anyone else vulnerability.
