Create a TWIST with a Family

My silly little brain had a bloops today and I misread Create a Family With a Twist as Create a TWIST with a Family. So naturally I had to turn that into a game.

It’s like CAFWAT, only well, twisted. And slightly backwards.

The bio comes first. The next person comes up with their name and photo, then writes a new bio for the next character. So on and so forth.

Post 1

___ is a loving yet standoffish old woman. She means well but doesn’t know how to communicate that she cares without insulting you or sounding cross. She is much better at pouring her love into the batter of her famous blueberry muffins (which she brings to every family gathering) or sewing it into beautiful, soft blankets (which she donates to the NICU and women’s shelter and anyone else in need). But don’t you dare compliment her for it! She’ll get all flustered and make it YOUR problem.

Post 2

Odette Martina Franklin

———

NEXT:

___ is Odette’s granddaughter. She is a bubbly, optimistic young woman who loves to write. Surprisingly, she writes grisly tales about monsters and assassins. When Odette raised an eyebrow at her stories (looking somewhere between disgusted and impressed), ___ explained that it’s great fun! She’s quite used to her Gran Odette’s surly ways and is actually quite fond of her.

When she’s not writing, visiting “Granno,” or sweating buckets as a zumba instructor, she plays video games, mostly ones where she shoots zombies and swears like a sailor. Her smile is like sunshine, her laugh fills up the room, and her hugs are frequent and feel like home. She has some trouble with people-pleasing and standing up for herself, but she’s finding a support circle to help her with that.

Alright, let’s use that last bio.

Next person, please give her a name and photo, then write a bio for someone related to her in some way (you choose the relation):

___ is Rae’s mother. She’s the daughter of a Baptist pastor who taught her to love [name_m]God[/name_m], love music, and love people most of all, even if they don’t love you. So that’s what she strives to do every day of her life: as a social worker, as a genealogist, as a volunteer caretaker of a cemetery, and as a co-parent with her ex-husband. They may not get along great anymore, but she treats him with respect and makes sure her kids do, too.

She floated around a couple churches throughout her life and now simply calls herself a progressive [name_m]Christian[/name_m]. She’s been doing a lot of listening in the group therapy sessions she co-hosts for LGBTQIA+ members of the congregation. When Rae’s brother came out as gay and genderfluid 3 years ago, it really opened her eyes. And she knows that she still has a lot left to learn.

Bump!

This is so underrated and there’s barely any CAFWAT threads where I’m not the last post so I’m glad to post here!

__ is Gevvie’s ex-husband. Their divorce was amicable, admittedly both had the same ideas for the future but were falling out of love personally. There’s still some bittersweetness in the air since they didn’t like how each other was becoming when they lost their attraction. He is a sweet and romantic person and besides his kids, he also didn’t want [name_f]Gevvie[/name_f] to see him look bad. However, besides her children, the person [name_f]Gevvie[/name_f] doesn’t want seeing her look bad is [name_m]God[/name_m]. There’s no way the couple will get back together and they don’t plan to, but he’s very nice and has an artistic side. He loves to paint murals and is a lover of stained-glass artwork, especially around the churches. He has a family history of doo-wop music, which he loves performing with his old friends.

In addition to his artistic side, he’s very close with the community. He is in high support of his three children and influences them to be amazing people. He keeps their bond very close with one another, even if he was the dad who often told his children to go play with each other. The whole family supports Rae’s brother in his sexuality and identity. [name_f]Rae[/name_f] is also very loved and she motivated her father a lot in his life. This man loves wholesome people and creative charm.
