Sorry if this topic has been brought up recently. If it was, I missed it.
What’s the most creative spelling to a common name that you’ve heard?
Ones I’ve heard in the last few years:
[name]Krystyna[/name] (mom is Aundi)
Broady (not sure how this is supposed to be pronounced, I’m guessing like [name]Brody[/name])
[name]Haidyn[/name]
Glori
[name]Austyn[/name] (for a girl)
[name]Tait[/name] (also for a girl)
[name]Kristyn[/name]
[name]Krysten[/name]
[name]Saraha[/name] (pronounced like [name]Sarah[/name])
I was wondering everyone else’s thoughts. And it’s not just the ‘change the i to a y’. It’s adding silent letters that aren’t usually there, changing ‘y’ to ‘i’, changing the letter order but not the pronunciation, etc. My take on it is that it’s not a unique name just because you spell it in an uncommon way. [name]Christina[/name]/[name]Kristina[/name]/[name]Krystina[/name]/[name]Krystyna[/name]/etc. are all pronounced the same. If you want a truly unique name, why not use a name not used as often rather than a unique spelling for a common one. I think it makes it worse for those do have a normal spelling in the end, too. Rather than people guessing 1 of 2 or 3 spellings, they’re now trying to guess 1 of who knows how many they have going through their head!
I mean no disrespect if you do like creative spellings. So please don’t take offense. I’m just trying to understand the reasoning behind it a bit more. Especially hearing so many lately!
Have a great day, Berries!
[name]Sarah[/name]
