i am on the lookout for names that have associations with animals - either by belonging to one or by having a meaning that pertains to it.

as far as my own research goes, i have exhausted every name under the sun. i am looking for names that may directly reference an animal (eg: wolf), may have a meaning that relates to animal (eg: arachne) or something/someone associated with the animal (eg: circe, morrigan). i don’t mind names of animals that belong to our imagination only (eg: phoenix) because that’s where the fun is!

i want something a bit more on the fantasy-side, so unfortunately we’d have to cancel out well-known names like leo or ursa. go all out!

I always loved [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] (a type of falcon) with the nickname [name_f]Pear[/name_f] or [name_m]Perry[/name_m] as a boys name or Aranea (ah-rain-e-ah) for a girl (means spider & is one of Charlotte’s babies in Charlotte’s web which majority of people don’t remember)

Lupo means wolf (not the most extravagant but is still a fairly unique name and is very unisex)

You could use Paikea which is a Māori name for Whale [name_m]Rider[/name_m] (it’s a male name but the [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]Zealand[/name_m] movie “Whale Rider” follows a female with the name)

I’m not sure what you’re using the name for but I’d recommend google translating different types of animals under different languages and seeing if any of the translations spark a name for you. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
