Looking for opinions and thoughts on the name Creedence for a boy.
I think of the boy from fantastic beasts…it’s alright but I’m not big on virtue names like that usually
My first thought was the character from Fantastic Beasts as well. I think it would make a very handsome virtue middle name.
I really don’t like Creedence (it just sounds creepy to me), but I do like [name_m]Creed[/name_m]! Though [name_m]Creed[/name_m] is a bit unusable.
[name_m]Creed[/name_m] is much more accessible than Creedence. I think Creedence is too lofty of a name for this day and age.
I think of Creedence Clearwater Revival. I don’t like it.
Creedence Clearwater Revival for me, as well.
It just makes me think of CCR.
I don’t like it.
My first thought was Creedence Clearwater Revival…
I like [name_m]Creed[/name_m], but I am not a huge fan of Creedence. To me, that has a feminine ring to it. If I met a Creedence, I would probably assume the nickname, [name_m]Creed[/name_m]. Not a bad name, just not my style.
I know a lttle girl named Kreedance, they call her Kreedy lol so I think of it as a feminine name. I think of it as a GP but usable as a middle name if you love it.
I am not a fan, sorry! It has a creepy vibe. I don’t like [name_m]Creed[/name_m] either.
I thought of CCR also, but I like them and I like the name! I do not see creepy or virtue, but I also do not know the movie/book/show that was mentioned.
I don’t think it’s really usable as a first name. Maybe put it in the middle slot?
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
I immediately thought of CCR and I like their music. The name reminds me of summer BBQs with the whole neighborhood, music from a boombox, and little children sleeping in their parent’s laps. I would use it, but since that seems to be a minority opinion, be prepared for a lot of people questioning your choice if you name your son this.
I think it’s usable as a name, but it’s usually spelled Credence. I prefer [name_m]Creed[/name_m]; I’ve known a grownup and a little boy with the name. I do think of both the Fantastic Beasts character and the band, so that may be a nuisance for him. But I also believe that the kid defines the name. If you like it, use it.
The Credence spelling looks much smoother, better-balanced and more correct, for me at least. The Creedence spelling comes from the band, so if you were to go with that it would be taken for an obvious reference / nod to the band.
Historically, I believe, it was most used as a feminine name, and this makes the most sense to me. These virtue names typically have their roots in a grammatically feminine Latin noun (in this case, credentia), and this is why names such as [name_f]Constance[/name_f] and [name_f]Clemence[/name_f] have always been feminine, while the boys have got the adjective forms ([name_m]Constant[/name_m] and [name_m]Clement[/name_m]). However, this rule is less strict with Credence, because there certainly have been men with the name.
I’m not sure if Credent has ever been used as a name, but it would make a rather handsome one! I do like Credence as well, especially for a girl, but there’s no reason you can’t use it for a boy.
I immediately think of the Fantastic Beasts character, but I like the name well enough. I prefer the spelling Credence, though.
Thank you everyone for yoir opinon!
I like Creedence with or without nickname [name_m]Creed[/name_m]. Either would be a great name. I think of the band. I do not know what Fantastic Beasts is people are referring to. [name_m]Creed[/name_m] sounds like a comic book character also to me.
