Cressida

Thoughts on the name [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it or leave it?

Nicknames…Cress?

To be honest, I don’t care for it, though I’m kind of surprised that I don’t because I like several other names with the “ess” sound in the middle: [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], or the somewhat similar [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f]. I’m having trouble thinking of a good nickname for it–Cress makes me think of watercress. [name_f]Cressie[/name_f]? [name_f]Siddie[/name_f]?

The sound doesn’t really appeal to me to be honest. Plus here in the UK it’s a stereotypical “upper class” name. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] Bonas is exactly the kind of person I’d expect to be called [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].

Not my style, but it’s a nice enough name.

I actually really like it. I wouldn’t choose it for an actual child, personally, but I like it. No need for a nickname.

I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. It feels elegant but fun and refreshing, and makes me think of water and waves. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] Bonas, [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Harry[/name_m]'s ex-girlfriend, wore it well and made it seem more like a name that worked on an actual person rather than something too unusual to use, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I like it on other people/other people’s child. It is pretty and sound quite badass. Cress/[name_f]Cressie[/name_f] is a cute nickname.

I love the name but don’t like the nicknames. I’m a big nickname person. I also have trouble seeing it on a child or even adult. Not sure my babies (future) could pull it off. But I’d love to see someone use it because maybe it will help me see it as more usable.

I think it’s elegant. I really like it. I would not use a nickname.

I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. I think nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f] is doable or [name_f]Ida[/name_f] (EE-duh).

I really like [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. It was once on my list (years ago now!) with the nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f]

I like it. It’s unusual but now weird and makes me think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]. A lot of nickname options, too -from [name_f]Cressie[/name_f] to [name_f]Essie[/name_f] to [name_f]Ida[/name_f].

I love it! And I love the nn Cress. It is on my list but my husband isn’t sold. I didn’t get around to asking him what he didn’t like about it once we found out we were having a boy. I’ll have to dig into his reasons next time around.

I like it, it’s a little bit posh sounding but it’s sweet. [name_m]Sid[/name_m] would be a gorgeous little nickname!!

I like it. It fits quite well with my style of recognisable but unusual names. And there are a few notable namesakes now to give it a boost such as [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] Bonas and [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] Cowell the author. I wouldn’t use cress as a nickname, it just makes me think of watercress sandwiches. [name_f]Cressie[/name_f] could be cute though, or [name_f]Ida[/name_f]?
