I was reading through the forums and I stumbled across the name [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]. It immediately enraptured me and feels like the one. However, I have a few questions:
Is [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] actually usable in the real world?
Can you imagine a toddler called [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]? Can you also imagine an older woman wearing the name at all?
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it?
What sort of names would fit in for siblings? [Please suggest some]
I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]! It’s such a beautiful name. I definitely think it’s usable, maybe a bit brave, but you could definitely use it. I can imagine the name on a toddler, a woman, and on any age, really.
I pronounce it cres-see-dah, but I’m 99% sure it’s also pronounced cres-i-dah (‘I’ as in lid, hid, igloo). As for siblings, I’ve always thought [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] would make an awesome sibset.
It’s unusual, but I think it’s usable. [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] Bonas gives the name some familiarity. [name_f]Essie[/name_f] is a cute nickname option if you want something less formal to use when she’s younger.
I pronounce it with the emphasis on the first syllable: CRESS-id-uh
For siblings, I could imagine names that are classic but unusual, or mythological, or posh:
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], thank you, I needed that reassurance! Yeah, it’s a bit bold but it’s pretty known with the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] reference and all.
I absolutely love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]! Thank you!
The nicknames I using are probably going to be Cress/[name_f]Cressie[/name_f]/[name_f]Cressa[/name_f] but I really like [name_f]Essie[/name_f]!
I honestly don’t know why, but I have a thing for Shakespearean names lmao. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] are my favourites from the girls and I absolutely love [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] and [name_m]Titus[/name_m].
I like Cressida. I think it’s very usable - just the right kind of familiar without being overused. You could call her Essie or Chris or Edie for short.
I can’t believe Titus and Octavia have already been suggested! They would make perfect siblings.

I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]! With names like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] being popular, I think [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is different but it doesn’t seem unusable in the slightest.
I pronounce it Cres-si-duh and I love the nickname [name_f]Cressie[/name_f]!
I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and I think it’s absolutely usable in the real world! I pronounce it CRESS-id-uh. (I first heard the name in the Hunger Games movies, so that might be a place you could hear it used and make sure you like it.)
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is modern but not trendy, both unique and familiar. I can imagine a toddler, a teen, an adult, and an old woman all with that name. Great choice!
I love [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]! [name_f]Sister[/name_f] names are [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]… mostly older names
I feel like it’s just as wearable as [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]. They share similar sounds and are both a bit clunky, girly, and elegant. I would say it CRESS-id-uh although I’ve only seen it written so I may be saying it wrong. I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for sisters. Some other sibling names:
I think something a bit clunky and more unusual would match well with [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], but of course there are a lot of options. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
Thank you for all the lovely feedback! My girlfriend and I have decided [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is going to be the name… of one of them! We’re expecting twins! Time to go name hunting again!
