I had a revelation but I’m wondering if it’s too much.
I’ve always loved the name Savannah - it’s been my top choice for a girl since I was probably 14 years old.
I would like to do family/honor middle names for my kids and have a list of potentials. On that list of middle names would be Kathleen, after my husband’s mother, however I decided that I prefer Katherine both in looks and sound, and that it would be close enough to still honor her.
I was staring at the name Savannah Katherine, and suddenly noticed that it contains my mom’s name (Ann), my MIL’s name (Kath(y)), AND my own name (Erin). Is this a cute way to honor all three of us, or would it feel obvious to people who know us? I certainly didn’t set out to find a name that would accomplish this, it kind of just happened, but I wouldn’t want it to look or feel forced to someone else.
I think it’s cute and subtle! [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] isn’t an obvious “Ann” name to me (versus something like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], for example) and I think [name_f]Erin[/name_f] being inside [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is also well-hidden.
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is a lovely combo!
I don’t think it’s especially obvious. If you like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], go for it! I think it’s kind of a cute connection, but it still feels like the daughter would have her own separate name.
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is a gorgeous name. I adore that it would honor 3 very important women in Savannah’s life in a sutle, elegant, intelligent and gracious way. In my opinion, this combo is very beautiful, delicate, meaningful and special.
Thank you all for your opinions!! Clearly I was just reading too much into it. I’m not even pregnant yet (struggling with fertility), so who knows if I’ll ever even get to use the name, but if I do get lucky enough to have a baby girl, it seems very likely she’d be my only, and I love that I’d get to honor everyone in one go (including myself, which was again accidental, but I think more women should honor themselves with their daughters’ names ).
Praying to be able to meet [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] in the near future
The name itself stands alone as a beautiful and classic name combination. But knowing all the meanings hidden within makes it all the more special. I’d 100% go with it! What a wonderful discovery!
Definitely very cute! I love it! We honored two people with a middle name [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (a [name_f]Lois[/name_f] and a Louise), so I am all for that It looks like you have found the perfect name!
