Crisp and Catchy Ender Combos

I seem to really enjoy crisp sounds with the newest addition to our list, Ender. My favorite sounds thus far are Ender [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and Ender [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. However, I’m not yet willing to break up my existing [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] combos, and Ender Caspain also breaks my Husband’s “at least one practical name per combo” rule. I think I’m attracted to the hard C and K sounds. I’ve also considered Ender [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (out because of the double –er ending, which is tripled when you add our –ar surname) and Ender Kenshin (concerned about too many “en/in” sounds and it breaks the practical rule again).

So have at it, Berries! Give me all your crispy crackly ones :slight_smile:

I hope you don’t mind me combining responses. I adore Ender - it has been on my list for years and years! My fav combo has always been Ender [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] but that isn’t very crisp…Hmmm. Ender [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is so perfect but I totally get why it cannot be.

I like Ender a lot. Have not read the [name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Card[/name_m] series, but have heard a little about the film and it looks good.

Ender [name_u]August[/name_u]- no C’s but it still feels crisp to me
Ender Calidore- awesome but might not be normal
Ender Cardamom/[name_u]Clove[/name_u]/Coriander- ok I’m not getting it but surely there is an herb name that fits here
Ender [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]- I feel like this is a no but can’t remember why
Ender [name_u]Mica[/name_u]/h- if it counts as normal it has a nice earthy feel to it
Ender [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]- naturey and vowel-y and all the other -y reasons
Ender [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]- is sometimes on your middle list, but it works here

I’m with your hubby here. I think one name should be more “practical” (eww!), if only b/c at some point, it just crosses the line into preciousness (eww! x2!). A name should be evocative of some trait of his/hers, not you! Besides, a more common MN emphasizes the first names uniqueness more. And yes, stay away from names with the same suffix.

JudyAriel – Hooray! I am feeling the name love :smiley: Ender [name_m]Christian[/name_m] has all the right sounds, I’m just not sure I’m comfortable with naming a child after my religion. Isn’t that silly? We have so many Biblical names on our list…maybe it just feels to billboard-esque. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] Ender [name_u]Kai[/name_u], but Husband thinks it’s way too sci-fi sounding, and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] is on our list as a nn for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. Ender [name_m]Crispin[/name_m] is swoonworthy! I also like the sound of Ender [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], even though on its own, [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is one of those names I wind up hating O.o I’m also warming up to [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], even though I’m not keen on the EE alliteration. Sweet list! You seem to really get what I’m going for with the sound.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] – I’ve been kinda crushing on [name_m]Jack[/name_m] lately….there are so many Jacks in the world and popularity is normally a huge turnoff for me. But [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is so dashing and mischievous…he reminds me of MSND’s [name_u]Puck[/name_u].

[name_f]Moon[/name_f] – Ender [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] is pretty smashing. [name_m]How[/name_m] funny, you have my Husband’s name on your list! I bet he’d have a total geekout moment if he saw it. I like the sound of Ender [name_m]Felix[/name_m], but something about it bothers me… Kushiel! Ooh…do we have a [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] fan in the house? Husband would never let that one fly, but it’s an awesome idea. [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] wouldn’t work because my FIL teaches at a university by that name…so sad, because [name_u]Korbin[/name_u] [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] is such a cool character! [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is a long-time GP of mine, but Husband won’t go for it. Stupid veto power…Ender [name_m]Axel[/name_m] is also cool. Why do I love all the “not-practical” ones so much? Haha.

Twinling – That makes two of us! I’m constantly spluttering at his comments on names that I think are perfectly fine…and yet he’s willing to consider [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]! (I know you love [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], but where I’m from that name is the very definition of the ultimate redneck hillbilly redheaded step-child. Like [name_m]Bubba[/name_m]. Eek! Anyway.) Ender [name_u]Constantine[/name_u]! Oh if only! That is such a fabulously handsome name. Ender [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is strangely attractive, but I am not down with [name_m]Fred[/name_m] as any sort of nickname. Ender [name_m]Cornelius[/name_m] is also fun…[name_m]Cornelius[/name_m] always makes me think of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice for some reason. Ender [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] wouldn’t work because Ender’s sister is named [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]. And I would love Ender [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], but there is a world of family bitterness behind the name [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] that makes it utterly unusable, despite the fact that the name itself is perfection.

Elja – Ender [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is smashing! Hubs has vetoed [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] a few times before…I’m not sure I should try that one again, but it does have just the right sound. I also like Ender [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], Ender [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m], and Ender [name_m]Noble[/name_m]. [name_m]Noble[/name_m] really appeals to my word name obsession :wink:

[name_f]Amy[/name_f] – Ender [name_u]August[/name_u] is so so gorgeous. I really need to find a way to get Hubby on board with this name! I always think of [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Rush[/name_m]…crisp autumn leaves and unearthly beautiful music. Want! [name_m]Herb[/name_m] names are so fun! Coriander is such a cool name…I really need to see someone use this someday. Ender [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is my clear favorite from your list. I don’t remember why [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] was vetoed either, but it’s got the sounds I want and it’s the perfect mix of practical/familiar and quirky/unusual.

[name_m]Bear[/name_m] – Yes, my Husband is definitely the practical one in this scenario. He keeps my head on straight. The finished product is always a good balance…usable, but with a magical flair.

So since your hubby love Ender I’d see if he’s go for Ender [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. (Men are weird and happy to break their own rules when it works for them…. wait that’s really everyone… ) I think it’s pretty awesome.
