Crushed

What are some names that you get crushed on the inside when you see it being used?

I just seen a post where this girl is putting [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] in her top names… It is breaking my heart. I feel like its MY name and no one else should use it. I know that is not the case, but its what I feel.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I don’t know why but every time I see a post about them I get really irritated and jealous, especially with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Its not that I feel like they are “my” names, but that this person is using them and I might never have the chance to. Like if I can’t have my [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], then no one else can. I’m like the spoiled brat of names.

I know it’s childish, but it irritates me a little bit that my name, [name_f]Addie[/name_f], is becoming so trendy. People seem to be giving it more these days, and using it as a nickname for full names like [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I’m 26 years old, and needless to say, my name was vanishingly rare when I was growing up. I was always the only one with my name in my schools. Now, seeing it pop up everywhere as this trendy, cute little girl name of the new millennium, I just think to myself, “Hey, that’s MY name! And besides, adults can have it, too!”

I feel this way about [name_m]Callaway[/name_m]. I cringe every time I see someone considering [name_m]Calloway[/name_m] because it’s my obscure family surname. Nobody else is allowed to use it unless they’re also a [name_m]Calloway[/name_m]. grouchy face

I feel this way with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! I don’t get it as much with boy names because I don’t fall as much in love with boy names as I do with girls. But everyone in my family and immediate friend group knows that [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are MINE!

I feel that way about [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]. It’s been my favorite for so many years, and for a long time I didn’t see it on other’s lists. I don’t get too upset, because of course I understand why people love it, but I still cringe just a tad!

I tend to like more unusual names so it’s not a reoccurring problem but the names I’m protective over are [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. Any time I see someone using these names ([name_f]Aria[/name_f] more so since it’s used more) I cringe. I always think “go away and pick something else!” Completely irrational but what can you do?

Mainly [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] as I know they will probably be called [name_m]Zeke[/name_m]… and I want his name to stay unusual (I think it is probably more popular in the States?) I hated it when [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] started getting popular, and still get a bit annoyed when I hear it being used. I was the only [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] I knew until I was 10.

[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]. I don’t even want to see someone post about it. haha

I felt that way today when I saw [name_u]Arden[/name_u] was the girls name of the day! My thought was, “Shhh, don’t tell everyone!!!”

My oldest son’s name, [name_m]Meir[/name_m].
Also [name_m]Hosea[/name_m] and [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f].

[name_f]Amara[/name_f] mainly. And when someone suggested [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] :frowning:

I used to feel that way with [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], is my daughter’s middle after my great grandma. A few yrs back we were gonna adopt a girl (her mom decided to keep her) that we would have named [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_u]Emory[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] ([name_f]Ava[/name_f]) so when my friend gave her daughter [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] as a middle it stung a little. I get it with [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], & [name_u]Elia[/name_u] too because I absolutely love them and my husband doesn’t so I probably will never get to use them

I’m a bit possessive about [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], and [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]. And [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]; I’m still freaking out about how far up the SSA list it moved last year!

Also, [name_u]Vale[/name_u]. I live off of a road called [name_u]Vale[/name_u], and have intended to use it as a weird middle since I was like 13 years old. So naturally I was annoyed when it got tons of attention after being used by a celebrity earlier this year and was in the nameberry cloud for a straight week; it felt like they stole my idea! I know I’ll be cringing when they release the 2014 statistics and I see how far it’s climbed.

I feel this way with [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], [name_u]Haley[/name_u] and [name_f]Heather[/name_f]!

I thought I’d be like that with [name_m]Konrad[/name_m]'s name, but I get excited when I see someone considering it because I think it’s awesome and want others to enjoy it too. That would probably be a different story if people considered it ALL the time, but it’s pretty low on the charts still so it doesn’t bother me. I do get a bit possessive of my girls names, [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]. Which both were on the birth announcements board this week. Super happy for their parents! But it stings a little bit.

This is me with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], and [name_u]Lex[/name_u]. They are all very special to me (the boys especially - I’ve been set on using those two in some form for a [name_m]LONG[/name_m] time) so it’s kinda maddening because in the time between now and my childbearing days, these names could become wildly popular and I would actually want to die.

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on girls!

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. When I first realized it was an uncommon [name_u]Julie[/name_u] name I knew i HAD to use it. I don’t see it as of often the other [name_u]Julie[/name_u] names, but now that I feel like it’s THE name for my daughter (I’m single, but I pray I will be able to use it someday), I feel like I’m hearing it everywhere. I don’t want it to become popular like all the other [name_u]Julie[/name_u] names (which I still adore), but I think it will. In fact, I read an article not too long ago that predicted what names will enter into the top 50 within the next 10 or so years and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] was one of them.

[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]-- especially on girls! I probably won’t have a second child but I will always pine for [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]!
