I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. I love its sweet yet un-frilly sound and feel, its links to the What [name_f]Katy[/name_f] Did books, and its association with good luck. It also sounds fabulous with our surname (similar to Winterfield).
But I know lots find it too bovine, or too linked to butter spread (in the UK). What are your thoughts? Would it be an embarrassing name to have, or would you like to be called [name_f]Clover[/name_f]?
And any middle name suggestions? I’d prefer longer names, on the traditional side but not overly popular, and preferably not ending in -a (since -er and -a endings sound the same in my accent). Ideas so far:
Oh I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f]! A family friend used it as her LO’s middle name, and I think it’s darling.
From your options, I’d say [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is near-perfection, imo. I also think [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] is pretty.
Thank you! I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] too. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] feels like just the right balance between unusual and traditional/familiar. I know it’s a favourite of my husband’s, too.
I really like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] from your suggestions! Great flow and great historical namesake in [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Pankhurst.
I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f]! I don’t find it too hipster, tacky, or anything like that. If she grew up and wanted a more “polished” name she could always go by a nickname, like [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] or Cler (pronounced like [name_f]Claire[/name_f]). But it’s so cute as a ful name, and I like the imagery with your surname.
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are all lovely.
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
@emmievis Haha, you hit the brief so well that you have my two elder daughters’ middles on your list! Of the rest, I’m really liking [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] (or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]), [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. Thanks!
I actually follow a photographer with a daughter named [name_f]Clover[/name_f].
I believe her name is [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but it’s a very cute and sweet name.
There was also a cartoon when I was younger, where one of the girls was named [name_f]Clover[/name_f] (Totally Spies!) which brings familiarity without popularity for me.
I really like the suggestion [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] as well.
I’ve loved the name [name_f]Clover[/name_f] for a few years now! Unfortunately, my husband hates it… I would’ve done [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] for her full name.
I love the name [name_f]Clover[/name_f]! [name_f]Clo[/name_f] or [name_f]Coco[/name_f] would be such cute nicknames for this. [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] are my favorites of your combinations–[name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] would also be lovely.
I personally would not want to be named [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. It sounds sweet for a wee one, though not my style, but kind of silly for an adult woman. Reminds me of a high-powered woman I knew named [name_f]Feather[/name_f]. Many of us, men and women, felt silly referring to, addressing or introducing “[name_f]Feather[/name_f].”
@susette That’s my worry with [name_f]Clover[/name_f] Although, the current (and longest-serving in history) [name_m]Lord[/name_m] Mayor of [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] is named [name_f]Clover[/name_f], so it hasn’t done her any harm. But she does have the personality to pull it off!
@yuma Gorgeous suggestions! I especially love [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Madelief[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Petronelle[/name_f]. Thank you!
