Cully?

For some of you this will be a brand new name. For others that have seen midsomer murders you will be familiar with this name.
What does every one think of the name [name_m]Cully[/name_m] for a girl. Cullie/[name_m]Cully[/name_m]?

It’s not a name I’d go for but it’s not my baby so if you love it do it. I find it a bit harsh and Cull (like to get rid of for a fault).

Some other similar alternatives might be [name_u]Tully[/name_u], [name_f]Callie[/name_f] ([name_f]Calliope[/name_f])?

I really dislike it. I don’t find it appealing or feminine at all.

I am not a fan. To me it sounds like inappropriate slang for a body part. Sorry.

Not sure if I’m honest. I find it slightly awkward in sound

I can’t say I’m keen on [name_m]Cully[/name_m]. All I see is ‘cull/culling’ (as in to reduce by slaughter), and that’s not at all a nice association.

I actually like it! I think it would be really cute on a little girl and think it would age okay (I dont think it would be much different from the common [name_f]Callie[/name_f]). The sound may take a minute for most people to get used to but I definitely think it would grow on people. It’s also got a really nice meaning of [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] or [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I say if you like it, go for it!

Written, I dont care for it, but I feel like if i heard the name [name_m]Cully[/name_m] I’d be fine with it.
I kind of like the idea of [name_m]Cullen[/name_m] as a unisex name for a girl, nn [name_m]Cully[/name_m].

Other ideas:
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f] [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_m]Clarke[/name_m] [name_f]Yolanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Cari[/name_f] [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]

I think it works as a nickname, but I personally wouldn’t use it as a full name. Like pp said, [name_m]Cullen[/name_m] nn [name_m]Cully[/name_m] is cute, though too attached to Twilight for me. I think [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] nn [name_m]Cully[/name_m] would also work.

I’m not familiar with the TV character. Unfortunately the name reminds me of the word “cull”. Plus the first three letters have a not-so-great meaning in [name_m]French[/name_m]… I think it would be okay as a nickname, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a full name.
