I was discussing my boys name list with one of my friends and her first response to hearing my ideas was: “so, you like dad names then?!”. So, here’s me embracing a different tactic in finding new name suggestions: What names do you consider to be “Dad names”?
Oh yes, this is much more like it!! Apparently I do like “Dad” names!
I love [name]Richard[/name], [name]Keith[/name] and [name]Graham[/name] - will add those to [name]Stuart[/name] and [name]Francis[/name] which are on our list already! I do also like [name]Adam[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Stanley[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] - will keep those in mind for middle names. I also love [name]David[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Matthew[/name] & [name]Thomas[/name] but we’ve used those already!
“Dad” names to me are names that were popular in the 60’s/70’s…
[name]Glenn[/name] is the most “dad”-like name to me, obviously because that’s my dads name. There’s also:
[name]David[/name]
[name]Peter[/name]
[name]Michael[/name]
[name]Mark[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Paul[/name]
[name]John[/name]
[name]Robert[/name]
[name]Stephen[/name]/[name]Steven[/name]
[name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Jason[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]
If you mean the names of today’s Dads then the [name]Matthews[/name] and Christophers are spot on, if you mean their Dads then you have [name]John[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Raymond[/name], [name]Peter[/name]
So my 3 sons names as well as the one we have picked out for our next boy all made this list! In defense of dad’s name neither of my older boys have another [name]Paul[/name] or [name]Mark[/name] in their school. Yet the names are familiar to everyone and have many admirable namesakes. I will say that [name]Paul[/name] tends to be more a grandpa name while [name]Mark[/name] is a full-fledged dad’s name. I think [name]James[/name] and [name]Andrew[/name] are dad’s names that are still in widespread use.
