We’re expecting #2 next [name]April[/name]. We don’t know the gender yet (a bit early, obviously) but we’re thinking of names… Our daughter’s name is [name]Zaida[/name]. I am kind of in love with the name [name]Dahlia[/name] though I’m concerned about it’s rising popularity. I see there’s a lot of chatter about it. We have a very unique middle name we want to use, while our first daughter has more common middle names (named after two grandmothers). [name]Just[/name] curious on your answers to various questions I have running around my mind.
[name]Do[/name] you think it’s ([name]Dahlia[/name]) going to end up hitting the top 100?
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Dahlia[/name] and [name]Zaida[/name] ‘go’ well together? (I do; just curious what others think)
Is it weird to give one child two middle names and not another one?
Any other names you think we’d like based on these choices? We like unique but not totally out there or hard to spell.
[name]Zaida[/name] and [name]Dahlia[/name] is a great combo, and I don’t think [name]Dahlia[/name]'s going to make it into the top 100 by next [name]April[/name] at all! It’s only at number 583 currently. It doesn’t jump in high increments either, 2010 it was 647, 2009 it was 660. In fact it wasn’t even in the top 1000 until 2006! You’re safe imo.
It’s not weird, it might be a bit peculiar since they’re both girls, but I don’t think you have to stick with it.
I have two middles, and my brothers only have one. They really couldn’t care less! lol

Is [name]Zaida[/name] pronounced [name]Zada[/name] or Zah-ee-da?
Either way, I think they work well phonetically as sisters. [name]Dahlia[/name] is very English botanical, whereas [name]Zaida[/name] is a not particularly religious Arabic name. But if the British royal family has a [name]Zara[/name], then why not?
If you’re specifically looking for Arabic names, there are some real beauties. Let me know.
I love [name]Dahlia[/name]. I cannot see it getting too popular. It is popular in the nameberry community but in the general public I don’t think it will go beyond the 200’s.
[name]Dahlia[/name] and [name]Zaida[/name] go together really well.
I think it would be strange giving your second child 2 middle names and the first one only one. But vice-versa that is okay to me.
We pronounce [name]Zaida[/name] as ‘Zay-Dah’. We’re not Middle Eastern or anything, but the name just struck us as pretty and unique and I liked the meaning as well.
I love the name [name]Dahlia[/name]–that’s the name of one of my cats. I’m not sure how popular it will get, but keep a lookout for alternate spellings, like [name]Dalia[/name] from Suburgatory, that could make the name actually more popular than it might seem with just the [name]Dahlia[/name] spelling.
I really like [name]Dahlia[/name]. I think it’s appeal is not broad enough for it to ever get to top 100. I can see maybe top 200, in several years time, but not much higher than that.
That said, I also love [name]Zinnia[/name], and it’s definitely not going to the top of the charts any time soon.
I love [name]Dahlia[/name] and chose it for the oldest sister in my book series. I wanted a flower name that wasn’t too trendy, but not so obscure and unusable that it was off-putting to the reader. That being said, those very reasons could make it become trendy in the near future. BUT, is it ever going to be [name]Rose[/name], [name]Lily[/name], or [name]Violet[/name]? In my opinion, NO. It’s just not as user-friendly. I don’t think you have anything to be worried about. Plus, [name]Dahlia[/name] works beautifully with [name]Zaida[/name]; I say go for it!
I think [name]Dahlia[/name] is very pretty, nn [name]Dolly[/name] makes it both botantical & vintagey/cutesy, but the [name]Black[/name] [name]Dahlia[/name] is a darker connection that comes to mind.
I think double mn for one kid & single mn for the next is fine. I might endup doing that myself. My daughter has a double mn, both very normal names, [name]Ida[/name] & [name]Simone[/name]. If I have another & can’t think of 2 middles that work for us I think I would be fine with one middle. Especially if it has a very unique & special feel to it!
[name]Dahlia[/name] will probably rise, but I don’t know if it’s destined for top 100. [name]Don[/name]'t know where it’s at now though!
