Daisy Dove?

[name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother’s name is [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], and I love how cute “Dove” sounds as a middle name. But now that [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] used it, I’m not sure if I still can.

What are your thoughts/solutions?

Many people don’t follow celebrity baby names unless they are a big fan of that particular celeb, or just a fan of celebrity gossip or names in general. So while you may occasionally get the “like [name_f]Katy[/name_f] Perry’s daughter?” comment, I think most people wouldn’t notice. The one issue that I think might be a deterrent is that you don’t know if she will become more famous as she gets older. It’s not uncommon for celebrity kids to become celebrities of their own when they become teens and young adults (Willow and [name_u]Jaden[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] Gerber, [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] [name_u]Baldwin[/name_u], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] Hadid, [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] [name_u]Beckham[/name_u], the list goes on and on). So if [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] makes a name for herself in 15 years, it may be weird for your child to share a name with her. It would be kind of like being named [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] now. But I think if you’re using [name_u]Dove[/name_u] as a middle name and she would primarily go by [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] only then I think you could get away with it, as long as your last name isn’t [name_f]Bloom[/name_f], since most people only go by their first name and very rarely ever mention their middle name.

I think it depends on how you feel about your child having the same name as [name_f]Katy[/name_f] Perry’s daughter, and if you feel that it would be a problem, maybe you would use a different middle name? Otherwise, I don’t think it’s a big issue and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is a lovely name

I do associate it strongly with [name_f]Katy[/name_f] Perry’s daughter and that would be enough to put me off, but I’m definitely in the extreme minority knowing lots of celebrity kids’ names!

I’m sure most people wouldn’t make the connection at all, and middle names aren’t always common knowledge anyway. I’d use it if it’s the clear favourite.

Although if you’re unsure, I’m sure the Nameberry hive mind could help you find something equally cute and cool to use in place of [name_u]Dove[/name_u]!

Thank you all! That’s all great feedback :slightly_smiling_face:

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due today and we didn’t find out the gender, so there is still a lot up in the air. You are all so helpful!

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is sweet and I hadn’t actually heard that [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] had a daughter with that name. To be honest, I think the fact [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is such a familiar name, it’s not too big a deal, especially since she’ll mainly be known as [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [lastname]

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Love[/name_u], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] (means dove), [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u] came to mind as similar options

Those are all really good options! Thank you!

I don’t follow [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] at all so there was zero association in my head.

If your child’s last name just happens to also be [name_f]Bloom[/name_f], then maybe consider alternatives. Otherwise I find it very unlikely that most people will make a connection, no matter how famous little [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] may become some day. While [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_u]Dove[/name_u] are both a little uncommon, neither name is unheard of, and most people are addressed by just their first name anyway.

I had no idea [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] even has a daughter. However, my guess is that I am in the minority as [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] is such a popular celebrity. [name_f]My[/name_f] suggestion is not to go with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I feel you could hear, more than you would like to, “oh, that is [name_f]Katy[/name_f] Perry’s daughter’s name!”
Also, my original thought when I read [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] was [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] Duck. Personally, I don’t love [name_u]Dove[/name_u] with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as it’s very wordy.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Wynne[/name_u]

What is your grandmother’s middle? If you don’t care for it, is there a name that you love that matches her middle name initial?

It’s an adorable combo but if you are not a fan of [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_u]Perry[/name_u] I can see the issue here

I also love the name [name_u]Dove[/name_u] and some alternatives are…
[name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
