Daizy/Dayzee?

So, a friend of mine is having a baby girl, and is planning to call her [name]Daisy[/name] - but will be spelling it either [name]Daizy[/name] or Dayzee.

I love the name [name]Daisy[/name] personally (though I know its not a nameberry favourite!), but I’m concerned about the spelling she is going with!

Also, the babies last name will be D@y - I can’t decide if this is as bad as I’m thinking it is, or if its cool and I’m just not getting it?!

I’m not going to say anything to her about it, as its her choice and as someone who’s baby name choices are also being ridiculed by family right now I couldn’t stand to upset another pregnant woman - but I just had to ask the opinion of you berries! Maybe its not as bad as I think it is?

I actually quite like [name]Daisy[/name] D@y, sounds very 60’s! Or like a superhero… a flower-power, happy-go-lucky, flower-in-her-hair superhero! [name]Daizy[/name] and Dayzee, please please no…

The child will constantly be correcting the name spelling, ugh. I don’t mind [name]Daisy[/name], but hate the “alternative” spellings…

Yeah, thats what I mean - it seems like it COULD be cool but I’m just maybe over thinking it?!

Also - do the Z spellings make you pronounce it more harshly?! It does with me, it somehow forces me to really pronounce the Z because I know its there…it almost becomes like two seperate words…[name]Day[/name]-Zeee

Maybe its just me, spellings can really irk me

[name]Daisy[/name] D@y reminds me of [name]Doris[/name] D@y, so it is cool. I don’t like the spelling she is going with. If I was to pick I would choose D@izy though, since that is the closest to the original.

Putting a Z in there definitely brings the name, and all of the associations, close to the word ‘daze.’ It’s not a positive word. I picture a little girl wandering around, stunned from head trauma.

I’m okay with the first-last combo…a little cartoony but very sweet.

The spelling though, not good. I love the name [name]Daisy[/name], but please not with a z! I agree that it subtly changes how I say it…more emphasis on the second sylable.

Spelling it with the “z” makes [name]Daisy[/name] go from sweet to stripper. And as much as I like alliteration, the first name, last name pairing is too much. Have they thought about using [name]Margaret[/name] (or [name]Marguerite[/name]) with the nickname [name]Daisy[/name] instead? That way, even if they go with the “z” spelling, at least it won’t be on any official paperwork.

The girl having the baby is young and very trendy, not a [name]Margaret[/name] kind of person at all!

I won’t tell her I don’t like it as its her decision and she obviously likes it for a reason. I just wanted to see what others thought out of curiosity!

I like the name, [name]Daisy[/name], but I don’t like it spelled with a “z.” This girl is going to be correcting people in terms of its spelling all her life, I imagine.

I love [name]Daisy[/name] (I’m a huge fan of the Great [name]Gatsby[/name]) but I HATE the spelling of [name]Daizy[/name] or Dayzee. [name]Daisy[/name] is so beautiful on it’s own… I think [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Day[/name] would be a cool name. But not [name]Daizy[/name] [name]Day[/name] or Dayzee [name]Day[/name].

[name]Daizy[/name] and Dayzee both look ugly and uneducated. I always thought [name]Daisy[/name] sounded sort of ditzy in the first place (no offense to any Daisys or moms of Daisys out there), but those awful misspellings make it so much worse.

I think [name]Daisy[/name] is adorable. However the alt spellings are not. Can you imagine trying to be a working professional with an alternative spelling like that? No one would every take you seriously.

[name]Daisy[/name] D@y is quite cute, but [name]Daizy[/name] or Dayzee, for [name]Pete[/name]'s sake STOP HER!

A family member of mine was responsible for one of the 8 baby girls who was named Daizee in the US in 2011. I am still trying to come to terms with it!

The ‘z’ almost makes it a bit harsher to me. I actually know someone who has a Chelzie and a Mazzy. Not [name]Chelsea[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name], but Chelzie and Mazzy. And she did it on purpose, simply because she really liked z’s! I don’t think those children’s names will ever grow on me.

These spellings just ruin the name, in my honest opinion. [name]Daisy[/name] looks a million times better. And [name]Daisy[/name] [name]Day[/name] is actually really sweet.
