Dandelion is a gp crush for me, and I would love to use it in the middle spot, but sometimes I like to think about putting it in first.
What do you think about Dandelion? And what are some nickname suggestions for boys or girls?

I adore Dandelion. It is definitely only my guilty pleasure list. But sadly, it will be staying there because it is viewed as a very common pesty weed where I live, and that just doesn’t feel fair to give a child. If I lived in a place where they weren’t so common, I’d definitely consider it for a middle name.
Dandelions have an attractive flower but generally speaking, most people/gardeners consider them a nuisance plant that they want to get rid of in their yard, so I would pass on it,
It is a gp for me as well, but I adore it!

Dandy
Leo- since it means lion and we got some similar sounds going for you here.
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
Whimsical but definitely a mouthful. Also a “dandy” isn’t really a nickname Id want since its sort of describes a vain aristocratic dude? Too much Yankee Doodle Dandy! [name_u]Danny[/name_u] or [name_u]Dani[/name_u] would be ok.
dandelions are super important to me and have been the ultimate symbol of inner strength and perseverance for years and years (you can’t get get rid of them) (they’re literally the epitome of resilience)
i think it’s wonderful as a name! it used to be on my list as a middle name but i took it off a little while ago because it felt too heavy for me to give to a child, but honestly— i think it’s great. sounds lovely, tons of nicknames!!! dillie, della, lella, leo, lonnie, dandie, dellen, sunny, petal!
I knew a [name_u]Dandelion[/name_u] growing up in the 80’s. She went by Dande (pronounced dandy). Her little sister was named Clover. I was obsessed with their names back then, and still am now! I think [name_u]Dandelion[/name_u] is fresh and delightful. Any girl named that is bound to grow up sunny, sweet, spirited and bold. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the imagery and the nn Dande is just adorable.
(fwiw I don’t really believe in gp names. I think nearly all names are usable!)
Maybe a name that means that?
I know they are considered weedy in some places, but thankfully I don’t think the association is strong enough where I live to make the name unusable. And I think there enough positives to outweigh the negatives for me personally. @columbiacharm I’m glad you get to enjoy it on your list even if you can’t use it!
That’s great to hear of people actually going by the name! And I love the spelling Dande for the nickname. Thanks @drfox for believing in all names!
Yeah, I agree, I go back and forth on whether Dandy is an acceptable nickname, I’m not sure where I fall right now, but I don’t love the association
Those are all such sweet nicknames, I love the idea of Leo spelled Lio for DandeLIOn. Dillie is super cute too, and I also love sunny!
I love this imagery around Dandelions, rather than seing them as pests or weeds. Thanks for sharing how meaningful Dandelions are to you @lumosmaxima
I am a big fan of dandelions (of course ) and I love the meaning and symbolism I get from them. [name_u]Dandelion[/name_u] is definitely quite a lot braver than I’d personally be willing to go for a first name, but I like it as a middle. Nicknames (depending how much you’re willing to stretch)…
