Georgia[/name_f]]Although gender is yet to be confirmed, my mother’s intuition has me convinced that baby number two is going to be a girl. We are already the proud parents of a perfectly darling toddler, whose own name (although a frenzied last minute decision lol) has proved to be an exact fit for everything that we value.
However, hoping to avoid the mad dash, and get straight to an awesome result -I have begun the brainstorming early!
So far though I have only encountered names that illicit either indifference or outright aversion. That is… until the name Daría came to me out of nowhere! It’s so perfect! Familiar, but certainly not overused. Beautifully spoken by relatives with a Spanish accent. An agreeable meaning. And in all of this criteria, it matches our son [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Santos[/name_m] wonderfully!
However, apprehension lingers… I mean could it really be so easy this time around? Furthermore, is it truly as winsome as I believe or is this tunnel vision? Can I possibly come up with an equally epic middle name? And what about that soggy little animated cartoon character of MTV yesteryear!?
[name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a lovely name and a wonderful complement to [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. I had no idea what you were talking about with the animated character until I did a Google search, and I’m sure that will be so removed from the present by the time your daughter is born for few people, especially those her age when schools starts, to make the connection.
I’m so sorry to say this but I think it’s what others may be thinking but are too polite to say. [name_f]Daria[/name_f] to me sounds like the word said quickly for a very bad upset stomach!
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] may be an alternative or even [name_f]Tahlia[/name_f]. Prounounced Tar le uh.
I know a [name_f]Daria[/name_f], I suppose she has a sibling but I am not sure. I think [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is really close to [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], nearly all the same letters in different order, sorry. It’s up to you to decide whether it is too close or not but in general, [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a good name with great meaning.
I’m not thinking that at all. [name_f]Daria[/name_f] makes me think of Russian ballerinas first and a sarcastic animated teenager second. Not bad associations at all! It is cool and glamorous, and perfectly on-trend without being trendy. I think it would be a wonderful choice.
[name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a stunning name- I think of the model [name_f]Daria[/name_f] Werbowy. It sounds elegant, lithe, athletic, ethereal and poetic, delicate but not frilly- as someone else said, the perfect ballerina name. A wonderful choice with [name_m]Adrian[/name_m].
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and [name_f]Daria[/name_f]- lovely. Honestly, the cartoon character is gone from my vision.
I love [name_f]Daria[/name_f]! It is a romantic name, but it is also very strong and would age well with your daughter.
[name_f]Daria[/name_f] immediately makes me think of Australian gymnast [name_f]Daria[/name_f] Joura, who was born in [name_f]Russia[/name_f]. She goes by the super-cute nickname “[name_f]Dasha[/name_f].”
Anyway, I associate [name_f]Daria[/name_f] with gymnasts, ballerinas, students and world travelers. [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Daria[/name_f] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] have a gorgeous Eastern European vibe. GO FOR IT!
Other names with a vibe similar to [name_f]Daria[/name_f]:
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Daniela[/name_f] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Very similar to [name_f]Daria[/name_f], and rarely heard in the U.S.)
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Gianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gina[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]: nicknames include [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], etc.
[name_f]Irina[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]

In my analysis of the name I definitely took into consideration the possible negatives i.e. association with the animated character and well that other unpleasant thing lol.
But I came to the conclusion that the television show, while relevant to my age group will probably be all but unknown to her’s. In fact, it reminds me of how people (of a certain age/era) warned me that [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] would constantly be teased about his name because of the movie [name_m]Rocky[/name_m], but two years later and I’ve heard a total of three mentions thus far. Hardly anything to count against such a beautiful name!
Similarly I don’t feel like it’s wise to stress too much over anticipated teasing. I mean I’m sure some genius along the way will figure it out but this name will grow and blossom with my child over an entire lifetime!
So I guys it’s just one of those names that people either decidedly love or hate
Also THANKS for the beautiful lists. Really! I’ve been hitting a brick wall on middle names because baby’s last name will be 3 syllables, ends with an A, and is just SOOO very Spanish
[name_f]Daria[/name_f] is lovely. The upset stomach associate never would have occurred to me and I think it’s a huge stretch to get there! I’d say, look no further!
I think [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is pretty, but I also think it’s very close to [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] consists of all the letters of [name_f]Daria[/name_f] plus a n. Although I supposed that could be a nice tie instead of a drawback, especially since they don’t actually sound much alike.
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] are 2 of my favorite names, so I suggest/second these as potential alternatives.
I love it! I don’t get any of the associations. It just sounds like a lovely name! I love the name with [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], which is one of my favorite guy names
I think [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a wonderful name. I think it will go lovely with your son’s name. If you are looking for other options then how about the name, [name_f]Dania[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful in name when said in Spanish.
The name sounds lovely to me. But for some reason [name_f]Daria[/name_f] seems rather dated and frumpy to me, but [name_f]Darya[/name_f] (pronounced the same) feels so glamorous and exotic. [name_f]Darya[/name_f] does bring to mind like a svelte Eastern European ballerina, gymnast or model, cool and confident with the looks to match. [name_f]Daria[/name_f] seems like a gangly, awkward teenager to me though. Sorry.
