Darwin, for a girl?

I’m in love with tomboy names for girls, [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Andi[/name_f]…but I’ve fallen in love with [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] for a girl. Nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. I think it’s beautiful with a lovely meaning. Any thoughts on this?

Can’t say I’m a fan. [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] has a similar meaning, plus it has the added [name_f]Bella[/name_f]- beginning, which makes it sound feminine to some. Maybe it would be a better choice.

I kinda like it, and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is just adorable.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] is terrible for either gender.

[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is cute, but I don’t like [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] (for either gender). Sorry.

I don’t like [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] at all for either gender, either. Sorry.

I like [name_m]Darwin[/name_m], I thought it was OK on a girl when I saw the title but you’ve completely won me over with [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]!

I don’t like [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] for either gender, or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

Really don’t like it on a boy or a girl but it is especially awful on a girl

[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname but I also don’t care for [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] at all.

I’ve always loved the nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] but never liked [name_u]Winter[/name_u] or [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] which are usually the full name to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]… but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Darwin[/name_m]! I think it’s adorable and perfect for the nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]; might have to add it to my list!

I think [name_m]Darwin[/name_m] could be pretty cool, I wasn’t a fan in the beginning but I’m really warming up to it. It sounds quite spunky.

While I wouldn’t use it for myself, I do find it quite cute. Especially with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

Normally I’d say it’s doable. There is nothing innately masculine about the name. However, because it’s so closely tied to a historical figure ([name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Darwin[/name_m]), I don’t think it’s usable. It conjures up very specific images and doesn’t offer the ambiguity that one needs to truly own a standout name.

Darwina or Darwinnah are female versions of Darwin… and yes [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is a cute nick name

I don’t like it, nor do I like [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
