I don’t really like it when names are viewed as pornstar names… but I might just be being sensitive.
The description for [name_f]Jonna[/name_f] is just “Lacks personality or power”.
The entries for [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] seem rather harsh.
Nefertiti
The description for [name_m]Norbert[/name_m] seems particularly bad… This is a normal name in some countries, please be respectful.
This one comes with a sign on it reading “[name_u]Kick[/name_u] me”.
Could the pronunciation of [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] be added? I’ve never known how it’s said.
Okay!
One more thing, could the origin and meaning of [name_u]Sora[/name_u] be added? It’s a Japanese girl name that means “sky”.
[name_f]Fairuza[/name_f] isn’t Turkish. Never even used in . It’s feminine form of the Arabic male name Fayruz, which is ultimately of Persian origin.
I saw several people considering it to honour their Turkish heritage, but unfortunately it just doesn’t. You can try Firuze instead.
ETA: I just searched and there are 0 Fairuzas recorded.
just bringing attention to [name_f]Linde[/name_f], it’s rather empty but there is some information towards the end of the page
@Katinka Thanks for adding that information! Could you also add the information for the names [name_f]Lucina[/name_f] and Catrin?
Cosima, i know a [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] who pronounces her name Koh-zim-ah
On [name_m]Yul[/name_m]: the description says that [name_m]Yul[/name_m] Brynner was born “Youl” or “Taidje.” He was actually born “Yuliy” or Юлий and both of the listed names were his own inventions.
a source: Yul Brynner | Biography, Movies, The King and I, & Facts | Britannica
And I don’t know about the Mongolian meaning listed, but in this case [name_m]Yul[/name_m] is derived from Yuliy and would also have the [name_m]Julius[/name_m] family’s “downy-bearded” meaning.
Derya’s Turkish pronunciation is derr-yuh, not 3 syllables
I don’t know what it is for most people, but the two and three syllable pronunciation sound the same for me. Same for a name like [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. Some people say they say it Jool-yuh, and some people say Joo-lee-uh, but both of those sound the same for me.
Well, jule-ee-a and jule-ya also sound identical to me but it’s not the same in Turkish, they sound different
[name_f]Jamesina[/name_f]
Jelena can also be pronounced yell-uh-nuh/yell-enna. This is the way the one I knew pronounced it.
[name_f]Callaia[/name_f] description says ‘it’s a girls name of origin’ and doesnt actually give the origin of the name anywhere
What @LibelluleClaire said goes for [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] as well @katinka
FYI, in the “Origin and Meaning” description section of [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], it says “in the book Eragon , it’s the name of a dragon.” but her name in Eragon is spelled [name_f]Saphira[/name_f] with 1 p
