Daughter's name having the same/similar meaning as mom's name

This thing just came into my mind. I think it would be a somewhat nice way to connect a parent with a child. Not just daughter with a mom. Also, if it’s a boy, then son with a dad.
My name is [name]Diana[/name] (goddess of the moon) and if i ever have a daughter, i could name her [name]Selena[/name] or [name]Luna[/name] or something like that.
What do you think?
Has anyone of you done it?

I love that idea! I have never been a fan of naming a child after their parents. It just seems kind of conceited to me. But this is a much quieter almost secret bond for the two of you. The only issue is how a second daughter or son might feel not to have that special bond. And I think trying to do it more than once would get cumbersome.

We were thinking about doing that too. My name is [name]Cynthia[/name] [name]Celina[/name], which are also linked to the Greek [name]Goddess[/name] of the moon, and we had [name]Luna[/name] on my list of possible girl names, until a friend named their dog [name]Luna[/name]. I might still use [name]Celina[/name] as a middle name for my next if it is a girl. Not sure yet.

My name means moonlight, and I’ve thought of using names related to the sun or stars. I think it’s a cute idea!

i like it! It’s a cute way of making them similar without their being confusion! I think it’s sweet.

It’s a nice idea, and it could work very nicely for some people. If you like those options it would be a lovely connection.
It wouldn’t work at all for others though. My name, for example, is an ancient place name, so unless I was going to name my child another place name there really wouldn’t be any connection.
