Daycare Names

I previously worked at a childcare center and now I have my own home daycare. I’ve come across some interesting names this way…here are the ones I found most unusual (at least in my area)–let me know what you think!

[name]Lola[/name]…not my style.
Makinley…I am so over the “Ma” or “Mc” names.
[name]Brayden[/name]…I hate all -aiden, ayden names with a passion.
[name]Liston[/name] [name]Pearl/name…Different, but kind of cute. I called her Lissy.
[name]Zhane[/name]…I hated the “h.”
[name]Canon[/name] [name]Raye[/name] [name]Blu[/name] (F)…Awful name, in my opinion. As my husband said, “[name]Canon[/name] doesn’t make blue-rays.”
[name]Sutton[/name] [name]Faye[/name] (F)…I came to love this name.
[name]Leighton[/name]…Not my style.
[name]Ralph[/name]…I can’t imagine naming a little boy this.
[name]Amaya[/name]…Awful. The “a” is so awkward.
[name]Brynna[/name]…It’s ok.
[name]Britton[/name]…Not my style.
[name]Thea[/name]…[name]Love[/name] this one!
Bladen…Awful. [name]Blade[/name]?
Kylin…Not a fan of the “ky” names.
[name]Sullivan[/name]…Very cute. He was called “[name]Sully[/name].”
[name]Kellen[/name]…Not my style.
[name]Carson[/name] (F)…Not my style.
Medin (short for an Arabic name)…Not my style.
Brecken…Looks made up to me.
[name]Carlea[/name]…Ditto Brecken.
[name]Traven[/name]…Ditto [name]Carlea[/name].
Beyna…Ditto [name]Traven[/name]. haha.

Also, the names of the children at my daycare:

Brilyn [name]Taylor[/name]…Seems made up to me.
[name]Kaden[/name] [name]Lane[/name]…"-[name]Aden[/name]" name. Ugh.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Shae[/name] ([name]Izzy[/name] or [name]Shae[/name])…The best, in my opinion, although I’m not crazy about the nickname [name]Izzy[/name].

Ugg, ugg to almost all of them. Like [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Thea[/name], [name]Ralph[/name] (think [name]Ralph[/name] Fiennes), [name]Sullivan[/name], [name]Carson[/name] (think [name]Carson[/name] McCullers) … [name]Amaya[/name], [name]Lola[/name] are okay

[name]Canon[/name] [name]Raye[/name] [name]Blue[/name] is up there with [name]Moon[/name] Unit.

Most of them are pretty bad.
But I like (I am pretty open to more uncommon names):

[name]Brayden[/name], I liked before all of the -adens started popping up.
[name]Leighton[/name] (wanted it for my daughter, but hubby doesn’t like it) - is this a boy or a girl in your daycare?

[name]Leighton[/name] is a girl…forgot to mention that one.

Wow! Those are very interesting names! I work at a daycare, as well. I have found some pretty interesting names myself.

[name]Bruce[/name] (It’s ok, but it’s just weird calling a 2 year old [name]Bruce[/name])
[name]Hunter[/name] (she’s a girl!!)

Bladen? WHY?

I know. I thought it was the most awful name ever. And sadly, his personality fit–he was the naughtiest, rudest child I’ve ever known.

Kardyn? Ugh. That’s awful. As is [name]Hunter[/name] on a girl.

I also work in childcare, here are some highlights from the last few years

[name]Blade[/name] (boy)
[name]Sky[/name] (boy)
[name]Octavius[/name] - This name threw me for a loop, but it really fit him!
Kamsi (girl)
Kosy (girl)
[name]Aleah[/name] (girl)
[name]Ayla[/name] (pronounced like braid)
[name]Bri[/name]’[name]Onna[/name] (Yes, that was how it was spelled)
Skylina (I swear)
[name]Chandra[/name] (I like it, but the parents pronounced the first part like [name]Jackie[/name] [name]Chan[/name], which I did not like)
[name]Elysa[/name] (No one could ever pronounce it right. It was meant to be E-[name]Lisa[/name] but everyone said [name]Alyssa[/name])

When my brother was in day car their was
[name]Azia[/name] ([name]Asia[/name], girl)
[name]Reagan[/name] (girl)
[name]Jeff[/name]’[name]Ray[/name] (boy, but i thought this was terrible cause it wasnt prnounced jeffrey. it was literaly jeff-pause-ray oh and not to mention he had 3 older brothers who all had [name]Ray[/name] in part of their names!)
[name]Holiday[/name] (NN [name]Holly[/name] made this one OK but the name alone was just…well horrible)
[name]Asha[/name] (girl)

Thats all i can remember right now. Not all are bad, just names i had never heard before. Oh but i did babysit for twins Grape and [name]Apple[/name] when i was in HS

[name]Jeff[/name]’[name]Ray[/name]…Wow, I have no words
