Daylee for a boy?

I am thinking of calling my child Daylee if i have a boy. I love the way i spell it because i think it is unique! my reasons for doing this is that my nans maiden name is [name]Day[/name]. All suggestions welcome! plz help nd i would like a manly hansome mn also. my main concerns with Daylee that i need reasurance about is:
is it too soft for a grown man?
is Dayley a better spelling?
What comes into your head first when you hear the name?

thank you!

Okay. First thing - there was a little girl on a TLC show that I watched (don’t remember which or when) named Daylee. Also, the -ee ending, 9 1/2 times out of 10 means a girl. (i.e. [name]Haley[/name] is sometimes used as a boys name, but [name]Haylee[/name] is always a girl).
To answer your questions - I think Daylee is [name]WAY[/name] to soft of a name for any boy, let alone a grown man. [name]Even[/name] Dayley would be too soft to me.

If you really love the sound of Daylee, use [name]Daley[/name]. It’s a nice name, but the werid spelling is [name]WAY[/name] too feminine. If you want to honor your maiden name, here are some other suggestions.

[name]Dayton[/name]
[name]Dayne[/name] or [name]Dane[/name]
[name]Damon[/name] or [name]Daymon[/name]

Good [name]Luck[/name]!!!

Daylee is very, very feminine with the use of a y and an -ee ending. Maybe consider [name]Dale[/name] or [name]Dayton[/name] as possible alternatives, or use [name]Daley[/name] as the spelling. I think the “lee” ending is going to sound feminine regardless of how it’s spelled, since so many female names end that way. You could also look to see if there is a name that means “day” and use that instead.

is it too soft for a grown man - Yes
is Dayley a better spelling - not really. I’d take out the first “y”
What comes into your head first when you hear the name - the guy who used to be mayor of Chicago in the 60’s.

I like [name]Dailey[/name] spelling. I say if you [name]LOVE[/name] it then go for it!

It was on Toddlers and Tiaras on TLC that the girl was named Daylee.

I don’t necessarily thinks it’s girlie though, I think it could be for either gender.

Without a doubt, Daylee is [name]WAY[/name] too feminine for a boy.

I agree with the other coments - the Dayley spelling isn’t as bad and seems to take the stress of the -ee ending (to me, it almost sounds like “daily” rather than “day-[name]LEIGH[/name]”). And what about using it as a middle name, such as “[name]Thomas[/name] [name]Daley[/name]”, etc?

I love the sound of “Daylee.” I think the name itself is just fine for a boy - not too feminine (after all, [name]Riley[/name] has a similar sound, and is quite popular as a boy’s name).

However, I do agree with the other posters that the SPELLING “Daylee” does look very feminine. I think it would be a great, creative spelling for a little girl. However, for a little boy, my opinion is to go with DAYLEY. Other options: [name]DAILEY[/name], DAELEY.

I would use [name]Day[/name] for a middle name and leave it at that.

Or, I would spell it [name]Daley[/name], but then it wouldn’t be the same name, ‘[name]Day[/name]’.

The only [name]Daly[/name] I knew was a woman, she (her parents actually) spelled it [name]Daly[/name]. It’s not common for either a boy or a girl, but getting the excessively cute spelling out makes it more fit for a boy. I also don’t like the cute spelling for a girl, but that’s not important, as you are naming a boy. I like other names suggested like [name]Dane[/name] or [name]Dayton[/name]. Or [name]Dale[/name] or [name]David[/name] or [name]Davis[/name].

Most names listed that end with -day are also feminine names, but I was thinking something like Farraday, and wow that looks more feminine written down than it sounded in my head, but I think you could snoop around or people can come up with better suggestions of good names that end in -day. Nameberry suggests [name]Canaday[/name] (variation of [name]Kennedy[/name] that really looks like you are trying to commemorate [name]Canada[/name] [name]Day[/name] instead of your nan to me), [name]Corday[/name], [name]Day[/name], and [name]Saturday[/name]. There has to be better than that. I did know someone named [name]Corday[/name], but she spelled it [name]Cord[/name]”. Of all the names, [name]Day[/name] with no fuss on it seems to come off the best.

Other options could be to look into foreign language for the word [name]Day[/name] for a name or for syllables that might be included in a legitimate name.

Why not just [name]Day[/name], or perhaps Dey?

Simple, masculine…I think it sounds cool.

[name]Daulton[/name]?
[name]David[/name] (Nn [name]Davey[/name] as a child)
[name]Dale[/name] (nn [name]Daley[/name] as a child) --not a huge fan of the name…but if you really like Daylee…you can use it…and he can stop it later in life if he wants.

I’m not a fan of made up names (maybe it’s not a made up name…maybe I just haven’t ever heard of it before, I don’t mean anything by the comment) nor am I too big a fan of names that end with the EEE sound. I loved the name [name]Evelyn[/name] until my SO said “aww…[name]Evie[/name] (as in [name]EVE[/name]-ee)”

Perhaps you could give him a formal name like [name]David[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Damion[/name], etc., but use the nickname “Daylee.” Daylee might sound like a cute little boy’s name, but it does not sound like a man’s name to me.

I immediately thought “daily”. As in “once a day”.

Hey! I know that I’m biased, but I have to recommend against naming your little boy Daylee. My name is Daylee (I’m a girl), and although I’ve only met a few other [name]Dailey[/name]'s, [name]Daily[/name]'s, and Daleighs, they’ve all been girls. It is DEFINITELY a feminine name!! [name]Don[/name]'t do that to your poor son! Or my feminine name…

It seems feminine to me. You could use [name]Day[/name] as a middle name.
suggestions-
[name]Dayton[/name]
[name]Daymon[/name]
[name]Dayne[/name]

I agree that Daylee sounds 100% feminine to me. Sure there are men who are very masculine who happen to have names that are more popular for girls ([name]Ashley[/name], etc.) but you can’t predict your child’s personality.

I would think about Daylon for a boy (not sure about the spelling, but the sound of the name is more masculine to me and it still includes the “day” tribute that that you want.)

I love this name, although not too keen on the spelling. [name]How[/name] about [name]Daley[/name], [name]Daly[/name], or [name]Dailey[/name]?
