Having our fourth, final baby and first girl next week! [name_f][/name_f]The current plans is to name her [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the meaning of [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- nickname for [name_f]Artemis[/name_f], goddess of wilderness! And [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a family name/my mn.
[name_f][/name_f]
We always intended to use [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] for first name with nn [name_m]Gus[/name_m] for a little girl, but switched it to middle this time.
[name_f][/name_f]
I love both options, but honestly can’t picture having a child with either name. I’m also not sure which one fits our vibe better now with the sibset (or if that even matters?) or if [name_f]Delia[/name_f] needs a nickname. Brothers are [name_m]Cal[/name_m], [name_m]Zach[/name_m], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] (these are all nicknames for longer names).
Congratulations! [name_f][/name_f]Both [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] are lovely and unique names but I prefer the combo [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]- [name_f]Delia[/name_f] is an absolutely beautiful name and I love the connection to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] (heart!)
I prefer [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] she’s very bright with a pretty southern [name_f]Belle[/name_f] flair that I think works with your boys. [name_f][/name_f]I also thought maybe [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] could be pretty or [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
[name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a lovely fit for you! I adore the way she honors you and other members of your family, and the sweet southern bell sound that blends nicely with your boys.
I like [name_f]Delia[/name_f] for you [name_f][/name_f]- sweet, bright and unexpected.
[name_f][/name_f]
Nicknames could be: [name_f]Dee[/name_f], [name_f]Dia[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Dilly[/name_f], Dizzy, [name_m]Del[/name_m], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (Dusty could work when you combine it with Augusta)
I like [name_f]Delia[/name_f] best in this situation. It’s bright and friendly so I feel it meshes with the vibe of your sons better. I like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] too, although it comes across a bit more quaint and formal here.
[name_f][/name_f]
I don’t think you need to be consistent with nickname usage. That level of coordination isn’t necessary, and it also may change if the any of the kids decide to go by their full name in the future.
[name_f][/name_f]
I wonder if it’s difficult to picture either name because it’s your first girl. You might find that goes away once she’s arrived and you start using the name. If you love the names and have agreement about your choice, I think you can be confident in your decision.
[name_f][/name_f]
Other names in the style of [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]:
I would go Delia Augusta - Delia is so warm and cosy and goes wonderfully with your boys’ names, and Augusta gives it something very grand & southern belle as Tori said.
I prefer Delia to Augusta for a first name - I prefer August for a first (or maybe even Augustina) and like Augusta for the middle spot.
(BTW, it’s possible that you can’t imagine a daughter called either name is because they’re both names for teens to old lady rather than infant to tween. Hold firm as easy to buckle for a baby name in final stretch.)
I think [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is fantastic! I think [name_f]Delia[/name_f] fits really nicely with brother’s names and has such great meaning for you!
