Della

Looking for some opinions on the name [name_f]Della[/name_f]. I recently finished reading a book where one of the majored characters was named this, and it’s been stuck in my brain. I’ve liked the name [name_f]Delia[/name_f] for a while, but I think [name_f]Della[/name_f] would make a great alternative!

I think [name_f]Della[/name_f] is very usuable, shes sweet and uncommon and has the comfortable 'el’sound in the middle.

I honestly prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f], as my husband vetoed every D name and I do find the D sound to be a little harsh…but if it does not appear harsh to you, go for it!
[name_f]Della[/name_f] is easier to say than [name_f]Delia[/name_f] to me also

I have a older cousin named [name_f]Della[/name_f] and a great aunt…it feels like one of those vintage names making a comeback. Not my style, but not bad.

I think it’s a cute name, right along the lines of the dainty [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]. Very usable in my opinion. In terms of my personal style, I prefer [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], but [name_f]Della[/name_f] definitely isn’t bad.

I prefer [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].

My grandmother is named [name_f]Della[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. It screams 40s deep south to me, for that reason. But it’s ok.

[name_f]Della[/name_f] is a strong contender on my list! She sounds bookish and beautiful to my ears. My mother actually had a great-aunt [name_f]Della[/name_f], and she considered bestowing the name upon me. Too bad she decided against it, as it’s much more suiting than what I ended up with.

It’s pretty, sweet, and Southern. The “D” gives it more weight than the expected [name_f]Ella[/name_f], but I feel like [name_f]Della[/name_f] would blend in with all of the other -ella names.

Thanks for all the opinions!
I love old-fashioned southern names, so I’m always excited when I come upon a new one.
