Hey everyone! I was just going grocery shopping and I heard a mother call to her son and his name was [name_u]Denver[/name_u]. I had never heard of anyone naming their after that city, I have heard children named other cities, but not that one. The more that I think of it the more it grows on me.
I was just wondering what everyone else thinks of this city as a name and whether they would use it or not. Also maybe some potential nn or mn for it!
This is the name of my friend’s best friend (a boy). I still can’t read his name on Facebook without thinking of the city and I’m not even American. They’re both from Ohio.
I wouldn’t use it, but I don’t like place names.
Nicknames could be [name_u]Denny[/name_u] or [name_f]Dee[/name_f]?
Place names as first names are a hot trend so it doesn’t surprise me. I would only choose a place name if it had some family significance or special connection to it and then it would only be for the middle spot.
[name_u]Denver[/name_u] as a given name was actually in the top 1,000 for all but 7 years from 1889-2001. Since then, it hasn’t been in the top 1000 and I’m super surprised about that given the popularity of surnames/place names as given names! [name_u]Denver[/name_u], CO was actually named for politician [name_u]James[/name_u] W. [name_u]Denver[/name_u].
