Desireé🍒

So this name seems to get quite a lot of mixed opinions, most of them being bad lol. I really like it and think it’s beautiful! [name_m]Dez[/name_m] is such a cute nickname too.

What is everyone’s thoughts?

What middle name would you pair it with?

I love Desireé! and [name_m]Dez[/name_m] is an awesome nickname

I think it’s cute! It feels slightly dated but in a way where it gives it a certain vibe instead of feeling tied to a certain generation. I think it’s a very bubbly, spunky name, really cute. Des/Dez makes it a bit more edgy, I really like it

I actually really like the name Desiree. I think it’s super feminine and pretty. I do know that it gets mixed reviews. My impression of others’ impressions is that it’s a type of “faux fancy” exotic name typically coming from a lower class individual (see Kevinismus / Chantalismus for the German equivalent). I’m not saying that’s my impression, but that is what I’ve read from others. I think it has a really nice sound and a very distinct look. Slightly dated but not untouchably so (and I myself love 80s/90s names anyway).

I would probably try to find a different style name to complement it, but nothing that’s too stark of a contrast. I think a 1-2 syllable name is best. Perhaps…

Desiree Violet
Desiree Summer
Desiree Claire
Desiree Georgia
Desiree June
Desiree Alice
Desiree Jane
Desiree Laura
Desiree Pearl

i think it’s lovely. I know a [name_f]Dezray[/name_f] and it always reminds me of [name_f]Desiree[/name_f]

[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Yael[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Blessing[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

I definitely don’t think it’s bad in any way! That said, I don’t personally like it, since it feels pretty dated and my first association with it is romantic/sexual desire (which I’d feel awkward bestowing on a baby). I’d go for something fresher as a middle! Desireé [name_f]Luella[/name_f], Desireé [name_f]Liana[/name_f], Desireé [name_f]Colette[/name_f], Desireé [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], Desireé [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], Desireé [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and Desireé [name_f]Margot[/name_f] come to mind.

It’s not my cup of tea, but I think it has cool sounds! I know one who is called [name_m]Des[/name_m], pronounced like [name_m]Dez[/name_m].

I really like [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - such a fun name to say, distinctive and kind-of-dated-but-in-a-cool-way! It’s also used in one of my favourite books, so that helps  :person_facepalming:

I’d consider the middles:

[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Jade[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Jordana[/name_f] / [name_f]Jordanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] / [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_u]Lilian[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]

I would love to be named Desirée!

I agree—it feels 90s in a stylish way to me.

I actually like this name but it will be mispronounced some so just be prepared.

To pair with I think you need something grounded yet faintly fantasy-esque.

Maybe [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Desiree[/name_f] [name_f]Helene[/name_f]?

I like it - though I can see it being mispronounced in a variety of ways, which could get a little annoying.
Also the traditional [name_u]French[/name_u] spelling is Désirée rather than Desireé. (I don’t know if that matters to you or not, but I just wanted to point it out.)

I haven’t really seen the hate on here for [name_f]Desiree[/name_f], other than some saying it’s dated. I’ve always found it charming and underused!

I think Desiree’ is one of those names that gives off a lower class vibe.

It does feel very 80’s early 90’s to me. I dont think it will have a whole lot of pronunciation issues personally.

I like [name_f]Desirée[/name_f] or Désirée, but the Desireé spelling doesn’t make any sense.

It’s a little dated, but not in a bad way. I think a classic middle could make it much more timeless.

[name_f]Desirée[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Desirée[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
