I’m a writer from Germany and quite picky when in regard of my characters’ names.
Currently I’m looking for a name for my female main character. I don’t want to reveal too much about my story yet. However here are a few facts about her:
- she is 24 years old
- she studies literature and history at university
- she is an introvert
- she will discover a mystery/crime
I would love to name her Marigold. However I can’t find a combination that convinces me. I’m looking for a fitting middle name and last name.
My ideas so far were:
Marigold Alice + last name
Marigold Ellis + last name
Marigold Elise + last name
Marigold + middle name + Austen
Please help me out. I seem to have a writing blockage because my brain is desperately trying to figure out the names of the characters.

P.S. Although I write the story in German, the story takes place in an english-speaking country, so the name should fit in this environment.
Maybe something like [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Avice[/name_f] (like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], only more unique), [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Isis[/name_f], or [name_f]Lillis[/name_f] (like Ellis)?
Before I read your name ideas, I was thinking of [name_f]Perdita[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Alara[/name_f], [name_f]Lorna[/name_f] and [name_u]Laurel[/name_u].
If [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] isn’t quite right, how about [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]?

Thank you for your suggestions! [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] feels too soft for this character, but I truely love [name_f]Cara[/name_f] and Ingrind as middle name options.
